Well for the longest time i always thought the internet was bad. Simply because there's so much information good and bad that it shouldn't be used by anyone younger than 18.
I mean come on, should it be legal that in 10 seconds i can find how to make a bomb or find any kind of horrible videos just by searching. It should be a parental, thing i know for sure my kids are not using the internet without supervision, but with younger parents, busy jobs, and computer illiteracy kids find there way to google and it begins..
Do you think the internet is bad or that this will become a big issue in the near future?

Hi bludshot00, the internet has become a way to help people find information/products and market information/products. The problem with the internet is that it has grown so quickly and there are no restrictions. There are so many websites that say one thing and others that say differently. How does someone find what they are looking for if they cant find the truth? In my mind I think the internet should have had laws put in place. But at the same time if you have laws that restrict people from publishing content then you do not have freedom of expression. The thing that makes the internet so unique is that you don't have to go somewhere to retrieve the information. The information is usually right in your house. That is why it is so important that parents protect their children from the bad content on the internet. I believe young children should not be allowed to get on a website with questionable content. It's just like if you go to the movies and a 12 yr old wants to see a rated R film. The internet is a virtual world inside your house that needs to have laws as well. But at the moment there are none, so I suggest getting parental control programs to limit what your kids can see on the internet. The future of the internet looks dark and chaotic to me unless there is someone who steps in and brings order. Thanks for the discussion question. :)

I don't think so. With me, internet is very great. Internet is development. If we don't have it, we can't do anything. Internet is good or bad to depend on the person who use it.

It depends on what we want to get in the internet. Internet is the most valuable tool of education we have in modern times and like mode of education, it can educate people to be good and also destructive so I think it totally depends on what kind of people we are. If we think of doing bad, that determines our use of internet, get information from the internet to do harm to people and animals. There needs to be only good education of the advantage and disadvantages of internet.

internet might be destructive sometimes because it can disturb you especially those who are addictive in games but internet is more advantage in searching information and more resourceful, educative.

Hey i've thought alot about that same subject abnd talked to other people about it as well. What i've concluded is that the internet is the first time in history that the unlimited amounts of useless and non-useless information have shaped the world into what it is today (without it we would still be using washboards and looking up at the stars wondering if the moon god will come to save us one day).
In all real cases, it is up to the parents to properly teach their children the proper morals and responsiblilties of this life as early as possible. I myself am 18 years old, and i've learned somewhat more and quicker than my peers. With that being said, it becomes the internet searchee's own choice in what to do with the information they process (you sorta need to be a bomber to want to search how to make a bomb, and if you do search it, its at that person's discretion of whether or not they choose to take full advantage of what they know).
In other words, the internet should be completely allowed for people of all ages, because it takes the person's OWN choices in haneous acts of violence or murder, and they are the ones who will take responsibility for their actions. A 30 year old has the right the look up whatever they want and get executed for their actions.
I have been using the internet since I was effin 5 years old and still going strong, I have not endangered anyone and never will, because my parents taught me the right way, basically you need to teach your children the fundementals of being a decent human being, and let them do the rest (their future is in their own hands anyway).

Like any other inventions Internet has its own destructive and constructive features. I would say it is a boon to the youth so if they misuse it they are losing on the advantages of internet. Just on the tap of a button so many information are available online. For example share trading with internet has become so easy that a person with normal computer knowledge can access it. Whereas it was a long process where too much time and money were involved. Of course initially the parents need to monitor their child on the websites visited by their children But after 18 every adult is an individual is responsible for the activity he/she does. Parents who lack time can keep the mature websites and other destructive websites barred so that the child cannot log in without the proper user name and password. It is the parents who are careless and not responsible for websites viewed by their children and not the internet.
Nature and other aspects of life provides both good and bad things. It is the upbringing and the knowledge of the person to choose the right or wrong. So I firmly believe that internet is not destructive but it is the user who has bad ideas and should be reprimanded to avoid an issue in future. Happy mylotting.

I don't think the internet is destructive. Some people can abuse the internet for their own needs. That would be destructive. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions when we are on line. We should have respect for each other and the information that we share.

If one does not use it in the right way, it's destructive. It applies to everything in life. Basic example will be match sticks and match boxes or even lighters, if one is using them for the wrong purposes, there will be arsonist all over the world, because it's even easier to hold of those things, without restrictions. Comparing internet to those things we use in our daily life, it's mild.

I think internet has two side effects, it can play major role in our life and it can destruct life, if we use it in a manner we can achieve and contribute in our family, no doubt it is source of information, but if we don't use it in right way, we can not blame internet, we should blame those factors which cause destruction, like parent engagement and moms's neglecting nature it could be reasons' we can lock and put password in computer, we can supervise things which relates to kids.

Just like any other helping tool in this world, the internet would be destructive if used in a destructive manner...
The internet is a helping tool, but yes, sometimes it is used by people who are up to no good, or children who are curious....the only thing parents could do is to make sure that their children are supervised in their use of the internet, no matter how busy they could get (it's their responsibility as parents)...

Hello bludshot00!
Internet is not destructive but rather INFORMATIVE:)
You`re right that internet contains almost all of the good and bad informations that one can learn and understand.
But for me internet is one of the precious thing that a person needed.
Internet help`s you know more things. Socialize with others and most of all earn money online.
It just depends on the person whether he/she wants to watch bad things on the net:)

The internet is just a tool for learning and communication. Yes, there is plenty of garbage on the internet that good people will have no need for. However, the truth is that it is the same way with the newsstand, bookstores, library and Television. All of these are a mixture of different items. Depending on your value system, you will be filtering what you use from all of these sources.

The destructive part is the knowledge within the internet just like books and I think this same reason is used to justify the censorship of some books. I think the internet is innocent it will only be bad when the knowledge learned from it is implemented with an intent to harm others.
