What is the future of gaming?

I was thinking about the new motion sensitive technology like the Wii, Kinect and wondering what the next gens will look like! Where are we going with gaming technology? Where are we going with gaming, period?

3D? 3D is still expensive and only people with 3D TVs can play 3D games. The Nintendo 3DS will let us play 3D games so we have to look into that.
And as the trend suggests, the future may be in our cellphones. Apple is gaining grounds in the gaming market these days. Sony is rumored to be creating a playstation phone. The future of gaming is more than the graphics department I believe.

That is a very good point I totally forgot about the 3DS! It looks really cool! The cell phone is getting progressively better and better. iphone 4 is totally awesome! I cant wait till Sony comes out with a phone. Do you think we will ever stop working with screens and start creating holograms? So instead of playing a strategy computer game on a predefined game map you place your hologram character in your backyard and make your backyard the game map! :D Totally wicked awesome!

I think that is the far future my friend :) But yeah it may happen. Holograms exist and broadcast journalists use it to conduct interviews. Maybe video games will be like that as well in the future, but not anytime soon, say, five years from now.

The next generation is far from fruition, who knows what might come out until then. Microsoft has said that they expect to continue with the Xbox 360 until at the very least 2015... I wouldn't be thinking about the future right now.
