Christmastime in Texas...

I've lived in Texas most of my life and hardly ever seen a White Christmas. That's just not something you see much of unless you live up in the panhandle or somewhere else along the Oklahoma/Texas border. Now, that's not to say it might not be cold or even icy but we just don't get much snow around Christmas time. Around here in central Texas we usually see our snow in January or February... if we see any at all, it's not something we count on seeing in any given year.
My question is, if you live in a warmer climate, like in the southern states, what do you do to help get in the Christmas spirit? It's kind of hard to go around ho-ho-ho-ing when you are dressed in shorts and sandles. I've even spent many Christmas's down on the Texas coast watching the surfers out in the gulf. It really makes you dig deep inside to come up with that Merry Christmas spirit, doesn't it? I know I find it hard to really get in the spirit of the season when I have to turn on the A/C on Christmas day (and I have had to do that at times). Don't you feel just a little bit cheated? What are some of your tricks to bring the spirit of Christmas to your mild weathered locations?

I use to live on the coast in Mississippi. We had snow just a couple of times in many years time.
I still decorate my home, I mean the whole thing in every room. I played Christmas songs on the stereo and record player...oh listen now I'm saying my age. lol
You could copy a bunch of up beat songs and listen to them. Decorate your home and call a few people over for a get together. Have a pot luck. Dress in an elf costume.
You can do lots of things to get into the spirit.
I wish you luck on this.

Thanks, moondancer. I try really hard and I think when I was younger it was a lot easier. As I get older (and, yes, I sure do know what a record player is) it takes a lot more effort. But, you're right... putting on some good upbeat Christmas music helps a lot. And I have even gone to the mall and just walked around soaking up the atmosphere there with all the over the top decorations and giddy shoppers. This year I just haven't found it yet, though.
