Decorations, giving and getting Christmas cards, food that is only made this time of the year...what is the best part of this holiday season for you? Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, is there anything you enjoy seeing or doing this time of the year? I've included a picture of a house decorated in my parent's neighborhood. Their neighborhood has a contest each year over whose house is the best decorated. Not a lot of them participated this year (my parent's didn't), but this was one of my favorite houses that did.

We love to take a ride after dark and see how everyone has decorated the outside of their homes. Also at this time of year after a snow storm, we love to go out and see all the snow on the trees and homes after dark with the decorated homes. Stringing popcorn to put on the tree, make treats, working together to get ready for the Holidays.
Merry Christmas

Some of the activities we do.. though this time we're behind on that. There are a couple of especially cool ones.
Nearby is a lake, called Onondaga Lake, it's heavily polluted, one of the most polluted in the country.. but there is a 4 mile trail along side the beach that in summer is used for walking, biking, skating, etc. Well in december they transfer this into a huge light show that we drive through at night. There are animated light displays of all different kinds. Some are arches you drive under... some of the arches are like rudolph jumping over the road or a gingerbread man doing a flip over the road then landing on a gingerbread house on the other side. There's light displays of Santa and his elves making toys.. light displays of Dorothy and Toto and the city of Oz. I mean it's 4 miles of light displays.. I can't describe them all.. here's a link to it's website though which has some pictures, it's so awesome! http://lightsonthelake.com/ Please take a quick look as my discription doesn't do it justice.
The other cool thing is that a small town nearby does "A Dicken's Christmas Carol". They actually hire actors who are all dressed up like characters from A Christmas Carol and they walk around the town singing carols and interacting with people. All the actors talk in that old British accent, it's all very Victorian. Then at set times during each day they play out a scene from Dicken's Christmas Carol. They do this every weekend.. the first weekend they start with act 1 and they progress until the story is done. Last year we went early in the season and saw the scene where Jacob Marley goes to Scrooge's house.. and we met the Ghost of Christmas past. This year we're behind and haven't gotten out there yet.. we're hoping to on Sunday. We'll probably see the Ghost of Christmas future wandering around the streets.. hope he's not too creepy looking! Oh, they also hand out roasted chestnuts, for free, horse drawn carriage rides, and all sorts of other fun stuff. We spent the entire day there last year and loved it! Here's a link to that website too so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.. http://www.skaneateles.com/visit/events-a-attractions/dickens-christmas.html

We do still observe Christmas, but my favorite is Hanukkah, especially the last day when all 8 candles are burning and the taste of Lakes, (potato pancakes) and doughnuts, yum...:)

I love this time of year, christmas cards, hot choclate, ornaments and other Christmas decorations, the beautiful lights that adorn front yards, family, friends, egg nog and comfort foods. The warm glow from candles, and the smells of delicious foods in the house. I love the Christmas holiday and the focus on Jesus Christ.

I love the Decorations when they go up
But these last 2 years I have noticed that People do make much of an effort any more which is really sad, it seems here in the UK (I don't know if it is the same where you are) Christmas is dying of, hardly anyone decorates now, they will put a Tree up but that it is
It makes me sad as I love the Decorations indoor and outdoor

We go out for drives around our area just to check out the decorations that people have put up. There are some amazing ones! One place not too far from us has created a wonderland including white sand to imitate snow. The lights are incredible; they’ve included Santa’s candy shop where the children can buy sweets and the money goes to the kid’s hospital. I wish I had taken a picture of it last time I went, I may just go back and post a photo here…I do love the effort some people make to be festive and what I love the most are the toy drives for children who are less fortunate, it opens hearts, it really does!

I absolutely love driving around the neighborhoods this time of year looking at all the Christmas decorations. I love to see how people decorate their homes. This year we didn't put up that many lights like we usually do. It has been unseasonably cold this year, and we ended up twice now with snow so this year we decided against it, and know I regret not having the pretty outside lights on.

The best part of these season of Christmas is our annual costume Christmas party. This Christmas the office agreed to have a Disney Character inspired costume party. It's fun, i knew it. Each team will present a dance number. Like last year we have a punk Christmas party. Another thing that excites my bones is the bonus and the gift giving...LOL. Merry Christmas everyone!!

When I was a child, I always thought why we couldn't live the happiness of that time every day. And now I still very enjoy sharing the most happy time of a year with folks. We decorate the hosue with colorful lights and flowers. I elaboratly prepare the gift and expect to see the excitement expression from their face. Suddenly I find that the whole year hard working is capable of making my folks happy.

I like the music of the season. Even when it starts in October over the public address system at Wal Mart. I do use the season as an excuse to cook an assortment of things that I do not make all the time. I like that it is cooler and I can do a lot of baking and not overheat the house. I really should fill my freezer at this time of year.

Christmas bonuses and holiday pays, which you all spend giving gifts to your loved ones and buying more food than you can eat.

I love the decorations and just about everything about Christmas except the snow! I like that people seem to be nicer and in a better mood than other times of year. I guess my favorite thing would be getting together with friends that you haven't seen for a while, sometimes a year.
