i've used sleeping pills for short term treatment of insomnia, been using those from last year but they're kinda addictive. so, i've decided, i want to treat this naturally :| i tried fixing a schedule sleeping and waking up at the same time but it isnt working for me , earlier i used to think alloot now i'm blank and go wild with headaches but still fail to sleep.. :| any suggestions for self treatment? or anyone who has been through this? cous sleep deprivation is not only affecting my mental and physical side but is also a great problem for social living and also i'm having trouble coping with work schedule, evrything is so messed. and i cant even fix a schedule cous of this stupid sleeping habit :|

A nice walk before going to sleep works miracles. The fresh air of the early night can help your body and brain rest. Not only the fresh air can help, but the exercising also makes your body feel the need to sleep. You can also try to drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed.

You are exactly like one of my work colleagues. She wants to loose weight, but she is always looking for the easiest method. She would try every pill or diet she hears about, but she doesn't want to hear about exercising. Do try the milk thing, maybe it will help you, but don't be scared to try the other method, a nice walk in the evening will bring you no harm.

Try some herbal teas: Catnip, Chamomile and Jasmine have soothing effects. Whenever I drink Chamomile I always feel relaxed; also, these teas have other healing properties, so you will healthier as well.

Ummm, yeah.... They really do work.... The better part of pharmaceuticals are derived from plants; herbal remedies aren't folklore, they really do work.

I think one of the most natural ways to treat insomnia is to drink warm milk (that's true, it puts babies to sleep, right?) There's a chemical in warm milk that makes you sleepy, and then a warm bath to relax your body. If you can't bring yourself to drink warm milk, try some hot chocolate (try the caffeine free) and then if you have a partner, try some cuddling!

I had similar problems.I did severe exercise during those times I couldn't sleep. That makes me so tired and pushes my body to sleep.I tried this for 1 week and eeverything became normal and in correct schedule. But I still continue to do my exercises. It sure has an impact on overall sleep cycle and general health.Try it out.

I had insomnia for almost 4 years and it was caused my severe depression and stress. Its a viscious circle because lack opf sleep causes you to get agitated and angry and then you think into things which stops you being able to relax enough to sleep. i was given tablets but i eventually got myself out of it on my own. It is horrible and i started gatting paranoid aswell. The best thing to do is give yourself a time to wind down. if you go strait from a hectic day/a run or whatever and try to get to sleep it just doesnt work. start with having a long bath, lavender scented candles etc are supposed to help and you can get pilow mist sleep spray which is lavender and camomile i still use that now. then settle down with something to eat and a book before you go to bed. Its not a good idea to use your bedroom for anything exept sleeping either as this will distract you when you go to sleep. If you go to bed angry or upset this will stop you being able to settle as everything that has been done/said will be running through your head. some quiet soothing music might help you aswel.

I also would like to know how could I treat it because I also have insomnia and it's terrible. The only way I got to how to sleep directly when I lay down on bed is when my day was so full that I got so tired that I can't move my fingers, then, I can sleep well.

Try drinking warm apple cider before you go attempt to go to bed. If that doesn't work i've always found that a night of heavy drinking can put me out quite nicely.
