I am so excited to say that I got a raise. Now, I don't really LIKE my job (OK - it's OK..) but I suddenly have a new vigor and enthusiasm for working now that they've increased my hourly pay by a buck. And I have actually noticed an extra $80 in my pay check..It's super nice.. And I am honestly surprised that the cheap company i work for did it.
Do you need the same kind of "motivation" to keep you going?

I am very happy to hear that you got a rise. It is a good news for any work and of course it is motivataion for people to work hard. I worked for three companies til lnow. My pervious two companies were very cheap. One company gave me a rise after 1.7 years, which I was supposed to get after 1 year. I worked for another company a year and they gave me a rise after 6 months, but they never give me a rise for another 2.5 years.

Well congratulations!
I know the feeling. And it is something I look for around April. At least it is April around here, in this company I work for. Because of the recent economic recession, the company has been struggling to give people raises. When I got mine this year, I was so happy too when I got it, until I realized it was only a measly $50 addition to my every other week pay check.
Still, it was better than nothing. And I could always use the extra gas money.
I wonder what you'll get for the extra $80?

lol an extra $50 though here and there is awesome if you ask me. Way better than nothing. I mean, hell, that's almost car insurance for a month for me. I like to feel like I'm making some progress within the company I work for too (even if I don't plan on staying around forever). Thanks for the response as always!

Congration. I don't get raise for years. I do think boss should consider giving the raise at the end of a year though, a bit more, apppreciate one year harding work. Otherwise the staff will lose the enthusiasm and the motivation to work. It help them focus on the job and concentrate more on it, unfortunately, my boss don't understand.

Wow! Congratulations on the raise. I think everybody loves to get a nice raise at work. I think if your company has recognized your work and given you a raise you need to be happy. And of course you do find that extra vigor and enthusiasm at work.
Cheers!

First of all greetings about that, it means that you are important for your company and your company appreciate your work. In that business world we live, it looks like there are two things one person needs at work - respect from his bosses and good salary, so the person to live normal life. In some cases, money are kind of respect too, but not always and not everywhere in the world people take extra cash for their work.
I can say that i worked two years in one big company, who had stores for food, also they were building houses and flats. While i was working there, we didn't have so much respect from our bosses, but in decembre we always had double payment for some days - Christmas and New Year day, around Christmas they always made party for all the people, who work in their shops and was giving us something like .... 40$ extra cash. It was great appreciation for us, because around the holidays everyone needs money. It was my first and last time when i worked for company, which is doing that.
Later i went to work in a company, which had more than 30 stores in whole the country i live. They never did party for us, no extra cash during the holidays, what they did it to low our work time on Christmas and New year day and the first day of the New Year, because they knew that nobody will come to shop cell phones in these days.
It's not a regular practice in our country people to receive extra cash when they work in the most important and nice month in the year, for whole world.
Congratulations friend.

Thanks. I'm sorry to hear about the conditions, and I definitely consider myself lucky, however rude my own bosses can be at times. I think it's only legal that they give you that kind of pay on national holidays, it's not out of the niceness of their hearts.. is it? lol. Thanks for responding!

Well it honestly took them forever to give me one, so I think it's totally fair. Plus, they started me out lower than they do most people in my position, so I'm finally making what I should be given the circumstances. But I'm also happy it happened, makes me feel appreciated. Thanks for the response!
