I think it is referring to the fact that even if one side loses the pieces go on with their lives rather than ceasing to mean anything. To me it is kind of like the fact that, from the losing perspective, life goes on after you are gone.

Ya, that could be so. Very insightful.

I think I can agree. We are always on the lookout for a way around or through. We keep using our different options, and we have so many more than just a few moves like in chess.

hi celticeagle my grandfa used to say to me quitters never win
and winners never quit so I guess it mean you will go on
trying and you will win some and lose some but you will'
keep on keeping on. which is where my son and I are right
now and am hoping and even praying that 2011 will be a whole
different ball game with some home runs for my son and I

Love your typos, Hatley. Not a problem. I hope 2011 is all you want it to be. The Quitters never win and winners never quit is good to live by. Hard though sometimes.

And the game is life. The adventure and strategy of it all.

When one is in checkmate one has no options left on the game board. When one is in check one may find a way out by moving said piece (the Queen) out of the direction of the attack.
I think Issac may have been alluding to the fact that in life we always have options, even if they may not always be in full view.

And I think he met also that we need to keep viewing our options so we are aware of them.
