Do finals make you burned out too?

Well, I am so happy that I finished my finals for this semester! I was so burned out that I did terribly on my Math final, and barely managed a decent grade. I know my Professor was not impressed. Do you get burned out during your finals, or even before the finals ( like I was).
Or are you the type of person that is relaxed the entire semester. If you do feel stressed or get anxiety, how do you cope? I could you the advice. Thanks!

Hi western,
Re: Avatar, yeah it caught my attention too. Maybe its just a coincidence. That pic is a snapshot on an overpass. I was just trying out my 2MP cellphone cam after I purchased it from a nearby store. I like what I saw so I used it on some of my favorite sites. The effect is like taking a picture from a helicopter or a plane on a low dive, that's what I like.
In actuality, its a picture of a traffic jam that I hate so much in the city where I had to shop 20 kms away. I wonder how light traffic was at that time so I took a picture of it. Maybe I won't be seeing that for a long time to come.

Mine is from Northern AZ, where there are "Red Rock" Mountains that come straight out of the ground. Because the land is so flat and there are minimal trees, it looks like it goes forever! It is not a sight seen in many other states in the US.

I am a bit stressed out in a subject during finals only when i know that i really need an A+. But if not, then i feel relaxed with that subject. Sometimes i don't even study for that. If i think i needed to have a really high score to be able to pass the semester than i will really be studying that subject day and night. Even a few minutes before the exam starts i would still be reading that subject. I know it's bad to stress out on the final exam, actually it doesn't help if you burn yourself out just to be able to get a high score. But of course you can't take that away from any student because we all want to pass right.?!

I cram too before the exams. I know they say that it is probably not a good strategy, but I try and get as much info in my brain as possible.
I wish there were courses that I had that I didn't need to study for the exams...those days are long gone. :)

Hi there Western Valleygirl!
That's great! Nothing feels better than seeing your hard work pay off and reaping the fruits of your labor. I guess a decent grade is a lot better than failing but you do know your capacity so you know if you really did well or not. As you have said, you're burnt out so I think it's normal. You still passed anyways, so congratulations. I barely passed my algebra the first time I went to college. I don't really stress out over exams because I see to it that I have reviewed the lessons and that I am prepared to take the exam. There are times when this is not the case though and sometimes it's just unavoidable but I try my best, at least.

Thanks so much, Nanayangel,
Yeah, so glad to be on vacation!
I also barely passed my Statistics class, before this math class (that was a real nightmare, so I totally understand).
Thanks for your support, really appreciate it!

Yeah I was the same like you when I was still studying. I would not get really stressed as I'm still taking my time revising and memorizing whatever I think I should. But I would be of course worry and nervous. I would not talk to anyone at least few hours before the exam LOL, and I noticed that a lot of student were the same as well. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Hi western,
A long time ago, like you, I went through university life. Its not an easy one, I tell you, especially when semester ends. My biggest problem are the paperwork that I have to submit on time, and I am not that good in writing research. Moreover, I had to spend a lot of time banging away on a dinky portable typewriter just to finish one page of material. Needless to say, I took me all night to do a ten-page project.
When exam week do come around, I usually spend my time in cinemas around the school. I really don't subscribe to cramming my examination materials, it overloads my system resulting in a kind of "mental blockade" as we call it then. I usually study and master every lesson as soon as it is given on that day so when examination comes around I don't have to memorize everything from the beginning of the semester.
When it comes to worst when I can no longer write anything, I only have to look at my teacher and visualize the day when he/she gave the lecture on the subject and "bang!" the answer to the questionnaire was there. That's one reason why I sometimes get low grades whenever another person other than my instructor administers the examination.

Yes. Finals made me burned out too.
Although I'm not a college student anymore, what I usually do before taking an exam is to have an exercise. Exercise increases the flow of blood to the brain and it makes me feel relaxed. I made sure that I banked high grades on the prelims and midterms tests to avoid pressures on finals.

Yeah, I tried to do well on the midterms too, but it was tough. So it did make the finals tougher for me too. I will definitely need to do exercise. Thanks!

I was pretty stressed out about my last few finals... but I don't think I bombed any of them. I probably didn't do super great on my last one. Probably a B or a C, but I highly doubt that I failed. Now that finals are over... I feel kinda burned out. Almost like my vacation isn't real. I keep thinking someone's going to call and tell me I forget such and such project or that I have to come in for one last thing... or JUST KIDDING there's really no Christmas Break and you have to come back to class now.
Freedom does weird things to my head. lol

I can be quite relaxed but when my common tests or exams come, I'll be stressed out and going all out, even waking up early in the morning to study. Most importantly, it's better to listen attentively in class so that come exam time, you'll be able to cope more efficiently.

I really didn't experience a burn out but more of a relief after final exams. Depending of course on the subject, I usually revert to my laid-back personality and attitude in life. I tell myself that I have studied as hard as I could, answered correctly as I could and I worked very hard to pass. I cannot say that I'm really relaxed becuase I do take precautions and steps when it comes to my studies but I don;t also overkill myself just for a subject or a project. I can say that I have a balanced time that is usually disrupted when exams or end of term is coming near.
