I do not have any credit cards and want it that way. I use a debit card and know it will bve paid in full and will not owe anyone as I can o nly buy paying cash and not getting back in debt. I will never let myself get into debt trap with credit cards again. not ever.

I like to use credit card. So I don't have to bring a lot of money when I go out. It is safer and cleaner. I also enjoy shopping online and paid by my credit card. It is not something to be afraid. I trust the security. The credit card gives me lots of convenience. And if I can return the money later on time and my bank won't charge me interest of it. Besides, my bank will give me some gifts according to my purchase amount. This is why I like to use it.
I love China

The answer lies on the person itself. There are people who usually does not care much as to how they use their cards. Often, they swipe to much and later on realized that they have purchased more than they can pay. So what is really important is control and discipline. A credit card is definitely advantageous if you take control of what you want to buy out of it. Moreover, it can also be very helpful in times of emergency.

Having a credit/master card may mean a larger purchasing power. But I believe that having one comes with responsibilities. You have to make sure that you can pay off the credit card bill in full every month. It is very important that you do so, or you will be incurring very high interest rates. If you are not careful with your spending, it can snowball into a large amount you cannot handle.
It's easy to just swipe, but when it comes to making the payments, some find it hard to do. You just have to be disciplined when having a credit/master card.

Well the main advantage of credit cards is that you don't have to carry a lot of cash. Also, it allows to purchase something when you don't have the money now but will have it in the future. It's like an loan you can avail of anytime.
However, credit cards should be used wisely. If someone is not able to manage his finances well, that person should stay away from credit cards as it could lead someone to incur insurmountable debts.

For my husband and me, having a credit card is to our advantage. We put every purchase over $5.00 on the card. We keep our receipts and frequently tally the amount currently owed. We do not put more on the card than we can afford to play in full at the end of the month. The card keeps from having to carry large sums of money with us or having to write checks frequently. Since we are not tempted to put more on the card than we can pay in full at any time, it is a good deal for us. It would not be a good deal for some one who has to pay the balance in installments.

If you only use the card to buy things you can afford it's great. You don't need to worry about cash. But if you buy stuff you can't really afford with the idea you will pay it off slowly, you will end up in trouble. You will pay a ton of money in interest. It's better to save up for the big things. Emergencies are an exception. If your roof springs a leak in the rainy season, you have to have it fixed. Or if your kid breaks a leg, you have to pay a doctor to have it set.

Hi visavis... nice topic... Yes Purchasing Power is the advantage of credit card, and it makes people brave to spend more than they can afford to pay.
I've been in other countries and also even there the use of credit card are rampant. Credit card holders here in the Philippines are still lucky because we don't have enough law for credits, but in the country where I've been credit card holders who cant afford anymore to pay his / debts, the Bank itself can call a police to arrest that certain person and before they let you go, you should pay what is the exact to be paid on that month. Also in that country many expat Filipinos who cannot go home in the Philippines due to the reason that the moment they enter the airport and the immigration check that you're one of the listed who have loans or still have an outstanding amount to settle in any establishments automatically the police will arrest you.
The thing there is an advantage in having a credit card, because sometimes in time of emergency you can use it, but some people abuse their credit cards, they did not manage well how to use it properly and in return credit card will give you a lot of problem.

" Use Your Credit Card Wisely"
This is the most important thing that you have to do when you have a credit card.I worked in a credit card company for the past 3 years and have been a cardholder for the past 1 year.I have some clients who almost cry because they can no longer settle their debts and credit card bills. These cardholders are the people who did not use the card wisely.they just swipe it whenever they want it!which is really wrong, credit card is only use for emergency purposes.

Out here we have debit, which is our bank card that we can use to buy things, taking the money directly out of our bank account, so that there are no costs and no debt. Thats what I use when I want to spend money, and not have to worry about transferring the funds back and forth, later on. I've always had a credit card, but I used it more for big spending, when it would be paid both now, and on my next paycheque. Thats pretty nice to have...
The biggest bonus of them, though, is that now many different credit cards have point systems, where you get a point for each dollar you spend, so you can get things for free in the end. Ones with air miles means you can go on a free trip after you spent enough, or there's gas cards so that you can fill up your tank for free after you spend enough, but the one I have is a Scene Visa, so every 1000 dollars I spend on the card, I go to see a movie in the theatre for free! Actually, it all started with 2000 free points, and since I started it, I've seen about 6 movies, and every one of them has been free. Now thats a points system that works for me, and I've never been in debt with my card and had to pay interest. Works out pretty well.

Good day to you Visavis,
Using a credit card is generally advantageous.
However, in every general rule, there is always an exception. When a person has a credit card, he/she must bear in mind not to use it excessively. As dont buy an item or itemss that are not useful. Dont go with the crowd that purchase too much and hence, they are not meant to be useful and for wise consumption. As these things will just be wasted and will just add up to your expenses. Another point to consider is, dont live beyond your means. Dont buy too much things that you cannot pay in the end. Indeed, it is really hard to pay a credit card bill when the total billed amount is higher than your monthly salary. At this point, you will just turn-up in paying the minimum amount due and end up in paying a repeated interest computation. That, it will be the start of having a high debt.
With reference to the above, when purchasing an item, it is still best to buy only those things that are really needed and useful to avoid paying a high amount due. And, when paying a credit card, see to it that you have paid the total amount due which represents the full amount to avoid incurring an additional interest in the next billing.
And, do watch carefully with your credit card, as some might be in a scam in swiping it for the purchases of another person. After purchasing the item, keep your receipts until you received your billing statement, check your receipts versus the posted amount in your billing statement. With this procedure, you can be sure that the purchases you have done are the only things that has been charged to your credit card.
I do hope that those tips that I have shared will somehow help and ease the thinking regarding credit cards.

Hello,
Actually credit card is also it depends oh how you will use it, if you need money for emergency purposes well credit card can help you but if you will use credit card just for your materialistic needs and you don't know how to use it properly that will be a problem. Some credit card users abuse the purpose of it so at the end it gives them head aches.
Piece of advice if you will have a credit card you should only have two credit cards, it is also important that you will fully understand their terms and conditions, how much is your credit limit and be aware of how you going to use it.:)
Goodeve!

well, if you have a good self-control and good at budgeting, then having a credit card is beneficial for you because it gives you up to 55 days to pay for your purchases... in this sense, you are buying time... also, some credit cards have a point rewards system which you can accumulate and redeem for some attractive gifts... take care and have a nice day...

hello friend,
Credit card is one of offering that never ever attracts me,not give me any notion to own.
I know it can helpful during emergency and most people who has it,gives that reason why they applied for credit card.
But,after receiving the card, they actually forgot the real purpose of their reason.
Once they've had the card, they keep thinking of what to buy and what to purchase, and what ?... end up with nothing (you will never win with credit if you can not control it)
I don't have against with credit card, that depends on the person who holds the card.
But somehow, that card is too powerful to resist.
Have a great day...HAPPY HOLIDAY

According to Oprah Winfrey, if you want to be financially stable, you have to get rid of all your credit cards. Yes, try using a pair of scissors to destroy all those plastic cards that will soon give you lots of headaches.

I guess that if you don't really like to carry cash around with you then it is useful having a credit card. Also if you are wanting to buy something that is expensive and therefor a big purchase then yuo would be ideal having a credit card. In the other way it is a card that will cost you as you gain interest, atleast with money you always know how much you have, with a credit card you can easily get yourself intoo debt. I have only ever had a credit card once, yes it is great to have, especially in an emergency where it really is needed but my wife spent a fortune on the card, then when we split up i was left with the bills as they were in my name. So in ways there are some good uses and some bad uses to having a credit card.

Having a credit card is nice. In cases where you have to buy of big worth and you don't have that big amount you can use your credit card . Pay big whenever you can so that the interest will not accumulate.
Somebody who has a credit card should know how to manage it though. Do not succumb to the temptation of splurging on your shopping thru your credit card if you don't have the capacity to pay it in a shorter time otherwise its interest will pile up and before you knew it you are already heavily indebted to it.
