Hesitant To Put Own Picture In Your Profile?

I've been very hesitant to upload own picture in my profile. Hiding my identity or how I look like isn't the answer, it's just that I don't want to scare and drive you all away from everytime I post new discussion or leave a comment. Ofcourse I was just kidding! Honestly, I simply don't know the reason.
I want to ask you these, does it counts on the number of responses or friends if the poster has his own picture displayed? Do you have thoughts in mind placing your pictures? What holding you back?

I like to see that Lotters have any picture rather than the anonymous default photo. It is easier to see them on discussions because we have something to remember them by.
Personally I have not added hardly any photos of myself anywhere online, escept this one that I use here which was taken on a particularly sunny day

Ah... Yes, I am not familiar with the image adjustment, I just not good at it. The reason I hold back is that I am choosing a picture that can reveal my charraccter or something like that. A shar or impressive avatar may help to attract mylotters' eyes.(Assume that you are brave enough to show lovely own photo) But the more important part is the content you write. Isn't it?

Hmm...I just don't find a need to post my own picture in my profile. Anyway, it's our own free will right? I feel that putting my own picture will put me in some risk and you know, the net is full of dangers and you don't know what will happen if you post your picture on the net or somewhere visible.

Ironically, it doesn't bother me what everyone else looks like. But I'm my own worst critique, and I figure no one wants to see a morbidly obese 43 year old female with a bearded face and bad teeth. So I'm kinder to everyone else by not showing myself.

We maybe under the same umbrella as I'm my own worst critique too but I always keep it to myself or share it to someone else and making sure that the one I was criticizing about will have no knowledge on it. Don't you worry you can see o bad words from me.. That's a promise.

I'm not afraid of posting my own photo here on MyLot. If I had a good quality picture of myself I would probably use it instead of this flower icon. Unfortunately, I'm always the one who's taking the pictures, so I'm rarely ever in them!
I don't think it should matter if a user chooses to use his or her own picture. I'm sure you've noticed by now that many MyLot users choose to use avatars that reflect their hobbies or interests. As long as an avatar isn't in poor taste, I don't let a user's choice of avatar influence my opinion about him or her. It's easy to judge a book by its cover, but getting to know users through discussions is what MyLot is all about.

Displaying your own picture does matter for those who want to be recognized by their faces. It does if the poster is a beauty or very striking enough that respondents couldn't resist commenting about. However I'm thinking to use something that describes me well as a person. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have many reasons. One I don't have a picture to upload. Second, my favorite picture of myself is of me at age 6! Third, I prefer to use my avatar. This symbol says more about me than Any picture.
You have your picture as you avatar now and I think you look nice.

I don't have a digital and good picture of myself that I would use.
My avatar is a key signal. It is a treble clef. It shows What key to play in. I have been singing since I was 3. I played the violin from age 9 til 18. I learned the guitar at age 13. I still play from time to time. So yes I'm musical.

I used to be when I first started out on here. But that only lasted a few months. Now I use a picture of myself in my avatar. In fact, I've been using it for years! LOL
I do like to keep it small for security reasons. Using a picture of oneself gives a more personal touch in discussions, I think. Although as Miss Diana pointed out (in response #8) anything is better than that darn default avatar!
As far as it helping to get more responses, no, I don't think it matters one bit. After all, I've seen users that have gotten a ton of responses and they didn't use a picture of themselves. They just figured out the secret to mylotting and took advantage of it! LOL
Happy holidays!

hi! a while back, i did put my own picture as a profile pic then changed it to my nephew's pic coz he's a lot cuter. now i'm using an avatar to represent a mood or a philosophy and i'm more happy using it than my own photo.
i'm not hiding my identity here or anything coz i'm using my name and i sometimes upload pics too. it just so happens that an avatar works better for me. i just love this avatar. i call it "touching lives". i love the way the photo captured the bird on the person's hand... and i believe that at one point or another... there are lives we touch everyday.
normally, it wouldn't matter about the picture on getting responses to your discussions or having new friends in the site. but it would be nice to have something visual attached in your username, be it a photo of yourself, an avatar or anything you fancy just so people can remember you much better or associate you with your avatar.
but for the record, regardless of a faceless username or a terrific avatar, interesting discussions or something people can relate to... gets the responses. in the same manner, the number of friends does not depend on the profile pic. at least that's how i look at it. hehe

your current avatar is very knightly LK. hehe even your previous one. very apt to your username.
yes, since being anonymous is quite accepted, we can go right ahead, enjoy mylotting and stay anonymous if we so wanted it that way.

Hello myles, since mylot honors our anonymosity, I think it's safe to say that we would rather post our symbols depends what we want others to represent about us from the rest of the mylotters. I agree with you that interesting discussions are far more important than anything just a cool profile. Well, I just made mine just to represent myself for others to see who's doing my lot here and there.

You two might have found the best characters that best signify you as a person. Now I can easily identify who's who without looking at your usernames. As for me I will start searching which picture is suitable for me and if none I'll just upload my very own picture until I find the right one.
@mylesnarvaez ineteresting discussion would be more interesting and followed if the poster is indeed stunning otherwise they'll just stick on how catchy the topic is. Same thing with having friends, beauty is an added appeal.
Happy mylotting!!

As you can see I don't really care. I'm worried more that I'll run every body off. I was hoping some guy would notice and ask to take me out for a cyber cup of coffee or something... no wait... I should have left my picture off if I wanted that! lol!

That is your reason why holding back or hesitant or other are having own, but from my opinion no reason to hide in a certain avatar or what just showing your identity, is showing your being honest. LOL that's why my real picture on my profile... see you around

You can just use avatars out of your favorite fictional character, Look I am a person who is very public at youtube (I have my own channel but I wont tell you) and Facebook but here in mylot I shared all of my secrets, so there is no way in hell I will share my pictures here because I dont want the people who knows me to find out I was trash talking them or I confessed the secrets they entrusted me to the world.
Plus I want privacy in this place. Look all of me relatives and friends are wtaching my facebook and twitter, Then there are people harassing me at youtube, That is enough for me, In mylot I was worse than nekkid with all I confessed here,My face is for youtube and Facebook only.

its not natural in youtube to be harrased, it has lots of trolls. I will give you an example. read the comments below this video:

Her channel is an awesome cooking show and she get lots of nasty comments. I get comments as nasty as that too.

Yes mwamba! Those horrible green avatars are so nothing. Please insert an avatar of your choice. Any avatar is better than the green one and will maybe get you more responses. Your own photo does not guarantee that.
Welcome to myLot to both of you.

I never cared before about having my picture on here. I figured what did it matter really. But now I am more leary about it. I think I might take down my profile picture. If someone wanted to track me down seeing my picture would be all the easier way for them to find me. Plus if someone from town comes on mylot they might spot my picture and read all my comments that I have left and discussions that I have started and run around town gossipying about me.

Hey Lance! I am hesitant to post my photo because I care what people think. I know I shouldnt but I do. I gained alot of weight after my kids and I never lost it until recently. I hated having my photo taken because I hated the way I looked. I have been losing weight slowly over the past 4 years and I must say that Im beginning to see a change in my attitude regarding photos and such. I still am my worst critic but I have a few photos I like. Eventually I will post my picture but for now I will let my boys(dogs) represent me. You by the way, have a very nice profile photo. Happy MyLotting. dl

We all know how wide internet is and how many users are abusing the use of it. I just don't want to be a victim of this abuse that is why im hesitant to place my real name online and even my photo on my avatars. But if it is mandatory then i will for myLot. I will just be editing my photo so if some members don't want my responses and try to do something with my photo then i am sure my face will not be all over the internet..

You just don't like to place your own picture, that's it? Come on there must be a reason why you don't LOL. Anyhow I do respect that for we have our own privilege to decide whether or not to post our own picture. But is there anyway I can have the real reason? JK..Thanks for passing by.
