Wrapping paper preferences?

Do you like to use a lot of different colors of wrapping paper for your gifts.. or do you use 1 color paper until it's gone? I like to use many different kinds of wrapping paper. I really don't like to wrap more than 1 gift per person in the same paper. I will if I have to.. I mean each of my kids gets more than 10 gifts and it's rare that I have 10 different kinds of wrapping paper.. but I do my best. I think I'm like that mostly for the kids. I think if it weren't for having small kids in the house I probably wouldn't care so much about the wrapping paper.

It would be too expensive for me to buy more than one wrapping paper. Having to get tissue paper and bows as well is all I can afford to spend money on. I am known to buy "different" kinds of wrapping paper for Christmas. This year, it's Scooby Doo celebrating Christmas. Everyone usually gets a kick out of getting their gifts in such unusual wrapping.

I bet people enjoy your lighthearted spirit. I love to do fun and funny things. One year I got my brother a large lawn cart. I had to take it to him at Thanksgiving. Got a box from Wal Mart, Like maybe from a case of diapers or something. I then bought a green plastic party table cloth to wrap it in, and used ribbon about six inches wide. I told him it had to stay on his porch until Christmas.

I do not bother with tissue paper and bows. The bows usually end up being squished.. and really it's just more money to spend on something that's going to be thrown away. So I stick with just the paper.

I use all different colors and try to kind of balance them out under the tree. That sounds kind of silly, doesn't it? :) I like the way the gifts look under the tree, so why not try to make the most of that? I think using all one color is boring and not creative at all.

I agree. I guess if they were going to different people it wouldn't matter.. but when the gifts stay in the house under the tree it needs to look pretty. I also try to even it out when I can.. and never put gifts wrapped in the same paper near each other.

Wow, you get a lot of gifts. I like papers that co ordinate, and I am really passionate about various tissues to put inside of boxes or wrap with or put in gift sacks. I try to get a new set of tissues each year. I really would like to make cloth gift bags.

I don't think cloth gift bags would be too difficult.

When I wrapped my mother and sister's gifts I made sure each thing had different wrapping paper.. just to give them variety. I know they won't have much under the tree this year, as usual, so I figured the variety would help a bit.

I love lots of different papers to wrap my gifts. I also use pretty sacks with colored paper inside. This year, I found some reversible paper, so I have 4 rolls which means there are 8 different colors! And I have yet to wrap a gift! Just got my tree up last night.

Hopefully you do not have too much to wrap! I've been doing it a little bit at a time. I still have quite a bit to wrap, but I've run out of wrapping paper, so I'll be going out today to get some.

I love using a variety of wrapping paper for my gifts. But I also have preferences on the paper itself too...like some characters, I wouldn't even think about putting on my Christmas gifts...like spongebob! lol...I like angels! And then, of course I have to have a variety of gift bags, which makes gift giving so much easier :) I would use paper, and gift bags even if there were noy any kids in the house.

I am not big on gift bags. I prefer to wrap the gifts. If I happen to have a few gift bags I will put wrapped gifts in them just to tote if we're visiting people that we're bringing gifts to, but I will not buy gift bags.. just save them if someone happens to give me one.

I use one colour, and like particular patterns, if I can find them. When I take gifts to family gatherings, the small children who can't read yet, know which gifts are from me, by the way they are rapped. One little girl said "those are from Aunt L, because they're rapped in red paper, with a white crossed ribbon, and they look just like a Danish flag!" I thought that was so wonderful.

I usually use one kind for the kids, one for the adults and one from santa. Sometimes I have 2 or 3 different kinds of paper that I will switch back and forth with. This year my daughter saw pet shop paper and she wanted it. So I got it for her and her sister's gifts. It was a little too girly for our son so I used reindeer paper I had here.

Husband uses 1 roll until it's gone. I switch around,as I don't want everything looking the same...

yes you would care. i still cared and still do for many yrs. its just that everything looks prettier that way. under the tree, lots of pretty colors. thats what makes xmas. unfortunately, this year i have only 3 grandkids coming over to open a couple gifts each and i saw no reason to buy more then one roll, since i might not use it all or even be here next xmas, you know

Yeah, that's understandable. I always save my extra wrapping paper from each year, and buy new paper each year, so I usually have a lot of options. I still need to get a couple more rolls to finish this year's wrapping because I've already overused the stuff I currently have and I need to save enough for hubby to wrap my stuff.

I've done things a couple of different ways in the time that I've had gifts to wrap. Last year I wrapped all of Paul's gifts in one kind of paper and all of Kathryn's gifts in another kind of paper. This year I had four different rolls or wrapping paper (bought on the day after Christmas last year) and I lined all of the different papers up in a row and alternated using all of them until all the gifts were wrapped. I don't like using just one kind of paper because I don't think it looks as pretty under the tree.

Since we live in a small place, I keep the gifts hidden until we open them! We have small kids here too. And then I know the wrapping paper is gonna be ripped apart and thrown away asap, so no one will care that much about the paper (except the initial ooh and ahh of the gifts). I tend to buy the same paper these days . . . that way if I run out, I can piece together the bits if I need more - ha ha - and like I said, no one will care.

I think that for me is whatever is on sale. Of course, if I have wrapping paper the year before, then it is still good. Of course, it is really the gift that is important, other than the wrapping paper to me. The wrapping paper is not going to be around for much longer. You're right though, the wrapping paper is more of a kids thing. For about the two minutes it takes them to rip through all of their presents that is. Still it didn't really matter to me. Well it might have when I was a child.

In my family, we usually buy those really big rolls you can get, and then use them up until they're gone. Each of us get one or two gifts though, so we do end up with lots of different papers. We also tend to re-use gift bags though, because we like to reuse things whenever possible. So not a lot of presents are actually wrapped.

When i wrap gifts i don't like them to be all the same. A variety of wraps is something i use. I might use tissue paper for one, cellophane for another. Different colors and textures can make giftwraapping more enjoyable.

It depends on how much I've left with my wrapping papers. Most of the time, it's just enough for 2 small gifts. There are times whereby I have some extras yet not enough for another gift, I will use an entirely different wrapping paper to mix with the current one. My purpose is to have a contrast effect but the patterns must be matching. If not, I would use a brand new gift paper for the present instead.
