All Dressed up and off to Bed

A friend remarked on the cost of a nightdress and that got me wondering. I am, and have nearly always been a pyjama boy. I had a few macho years where I wore just my birthday suit in bed until the night of the fire and I had to descend a rope naked with my jewels all on display! I happily spend a "reasonable" amount on PJs - say $30 - $50 and would love to spend more. We spend a third of our days in bed and I don't see why if we get dressed up to go out, why we shouldn't be equally smart in bed. Do you dress up to go to bed. What's a reasonable price to pay for PJs or a nightdress?

I have a backlog of big ol' t-shirts for summer and some nice cosy flannels for winter. I'm not about to buy any new nighties anytime soon, but if I did, I'd check out a thrift shop first. Sometimes you can get brand new clothes, still with the original price tags on, for peanuts.

I am a nightdress kinda gal myself. I find jammie bottoms too restrictive and they get my legs all tangled up. Silly, I know, but just how I feel about it.
Price? I dunno, I usually ask the kids to buy me a nice, long granny nightgown, long sleeves. I generally find the nightshirts for summer use at the 2nd hand store, for around $4 - $10.

If you would do me the kindness of modelling it for me, I think I'll judge for myself. *Giggles*

But you could have added a little 'sockie' cover for the 'boys', too, eh? lol

i'm not willing to spend heaps of money on pyjamas as well because i will be only wearing them at night time in my bedroom and the only person who will be seeing them is my hubby... for me, the most i am willing to spend on a set of pyjama is $10 and no more than that... take care and have a nice day...

Hi there Pike,
Happy Holidays! I'll tell you what...I don't spend that much money on PJs. I love pjs and especially at this time of year. I get the comfy cozy PJ bottoms and usually top it with a sweatshirt or t-shirt. I get the pants for no more than 10.00...I look for sales. Actually, one year I made some for myself and my girls and I got the flannel really cheap. They cost me about 3.00 per pair to make and about an hours work. not too shabby, heh?

Oh, what a picture you've painted!!
After thinking awhile about it, you're right. I just got done looking online but can't find anything I like yet. I really like Vanity Fair nightgowns and they are on sale right now. I will probably go look at them tomorrow. I like floor-length gowns and they're rather hard to find but perhaps I'll get lucky! They have to be soft and silky, too, and I like lace and ribbon and all that stuff. I did get a bit of cash for Christmas from my dad so it's not like I'll be spending anything.

You are of course my inspiration for this discussion. There is a wonderful company in this country that sell nightwear called David Nieper. I doubt that they cover the US too. I bought the Boss two pais of PJs or Christmas in fact. They came all gift wrapped in a box etc. The two pairs didn't cost $30!! It's knowing where to look I think. Enjoy your nightdress hunt tomorrow.

I have loads of nighties, lingerie and pj's as it is true that I also have loads of clothes. Something about my night clothing that I do not mind spending for as I do like to dress the part.
My boyfriend also enjoys each one I own and continue to buy as it is the highlight of his night.

*LOL* It would be the highlight of my hubby's day if I'd wear one too! There are few in my drawer I like. And with 3 kids quickies seem to be all that one has time for w/o being disturbed ;0)

Oh yes, I dress up for bed. You might not believe this but in most places in my state...the 'nightie' is a dress that women wear at home and sometimes go to the corner store in. My mil was shocked to hear that I wore the nightie only when I go to bed. My sils wear it at home all day.
Dressing up for bed was not the norm in our part of the country.
I'm not sure about the 'reasonable' price bit because I usually go for comfort and something not too expensive.

Hmmmm... I'd say $25 or less. However, for bed I don't buy a winter night gown or pj's. I usually wear pj bottoms or mens lounge bottoms and whatever shirt I was wearing during the day. And in summer dorm night gowns w/ short... nothing exciting. Dare I say I'm too cheap to buy myself a nice pair of jammies and night gowns when I have plenty I can wear & some hand-me-downs.
Otherwise I would be all over those pj's by Vera Wang they sell @ Kohl's.... they are sooo soft to the skin & light weight.

I do not dress up and go to bed.I just go to bed with the clothes i am wearing. My mom tells me to wear pajamas and sleep because i can save myself from mosquito bites.Though pyjamas are comfortable to wear during the night but i do not prefer it.I would wear pyjamas in camps or when i go to my native place.
I do not know a reasonable price to pay for a PJ or a night dress but you should buy a dress that is comfortable for you in the night while you are sleeping.

OK, I just want to know. Is this discussion really about pajamas, or did you really just want to tell us all about your jewels being on display?

I have not worn pyjamas for over 20 years. Too warm for them here most of the year. So it is birthday suit for me mostly. If we get a cold night, or I am camping in a cold area like I were a couple of weeks back, then I go for undies and singlet. Nothing fancy about my sleep attire!
Did anyone get you on video displaying your jewels to the neighbourhood? Any TV cameras?

I would say a price should be between at least $20-$30 some dollar. Some people feel that price doesn't matter if its something they loves to buy. I suggest you to keep buying at any price you like can't no one tell you how and when to buy something at a certain given price cause I know everyone has a special quantity that they love to buy without really considering a price tag being to high or low. Just like me I love computers and their accessories to the point where I think that I might start buying too many items from the computer world.

Hi P1key,
I have never bought a P.Js before as all my PJs are bought for me as presents, I have two dozens, so don't really know the prices of any of them. Hugs.

I don't wear pajamas to bed. But I wear a pair of oversized athletic shorts so that I have room to move around. Then I keep my old, worn-out shirts and just throw one of them on the top. To me this is the most comfortable way to be and at night I'm dressing for nobody but myself so why not be comfortable?

I also always wear PJs in bed. But I also know people who go to bed in their underwear. But I can sleep better when I wear pyjamas, and this has always been so since I was young, and I don't want to change that because it would be unusual for me, and it wouldn't feel pleasant to wear something different as usual at night.
