Does anyone have time to read anymore?

Hey everyone!
I'm in high school now, taking 6 AP classes, so I'm under a lot of pressure from my academic life. Along with that, I have tennis lessons, piano, college applications, SAT prep, art classes, various competitions, and a research project that I do with a professor. So I usually have very little time for breaks, and when I do, I spend it with my friends or family. That leaves me ABSOLUTELY no time to read for fun. I haven't finished a single book in a few months, and I find it quite sad, because I used to be a big fan of books. I'm trying to find time again. Reading books improves your vocabulary, gives you different perspectives on life, and is just fun :)
Is anyone else in this kind of situation?
Thanks, and happy holidays!
Annie

Hello oxAQUAxo!
Yes, I am in the same situation as you are now. I'm in College nearing for my hospital internship program this summer, lots of school work, tutoring for an elementary student, doing household chores, working on a part-time work-at-home job, staying up late for MyLot(LOL), and my spare time is spent for my girlfriend! Haha. I was once a reader too, during my early College days. But as I go near to my Graduation, I have less and lesser time for reading books of my interest. I find it quite depressing, because sometimes I tend to be unfamiliarized with words, well you're right it enhances our vocabulary, and helps improve communication skills. Maybe one day, I'd get a chance to find a time for reading again. I hope we would.

Personally I do most of my reading anymore online. It seems due to most of the print in books being so small, and not wanting to have to put on my reading glasses all the time, I usually do not try to read that often anymore unless online. I have always been a slower reader when it comes to books but miss some of my favorite authors that I enjoy reading as well.

I watched a decumentary once about just this subject. Do you enjoy all that you do? Are you able to make room for all of this without feeling frustrated or like you aren't able to give EACH thing your all? Is there anything you could give up? Is there time in between things that you could just go find a comfy spot and read for afew minutes? Maybe you could shorten time spent with family and freinds by a half an hour and go read before you go to bed. I find reading helps me to 'digest' my day and wind down. Maybe it can be that for you as well. Actually turning off the gadgets we are so used to having on )i.e., tv,internet, cell phone, music)and just embracing a book and entering the world of the book. It can really help to relax you and help you get your rest, not just sleep. I too am trying to find some time. I leave the television on for company at night and just to help lull me off. I really need to find a book to read. Hope you find the time.

I can understand your situation. When I was in school, I had no free time for reading either. I guess that vacation and summertime would be your only opportunity. They'll be lots of time later!

i still have time to read now because i don't have a job yet at the moment... i'm still in the process of looking for another job and i haven't been able to find one yet until now... i hope God will give me one soon... also, in the past when i was still working, i always make sure that i have the time to read as well because i think it is important... i spare time to read during my break times at work or when i am traveling to work in a train and tram... take care and have a nice day...

I'm in college right now. Not at the current moment because I'm on winter break... but I'm doing the college thing and I've spent more than ten hours up on campus doing homework (I'm a digital film student so I have to do lots of homework on campus) and then gone home and spent four more hours doing more homework. Not to mention things like work and friends... and you know... stuff that LIFE is actually made of.
But I've never felt like I don't have time to read. I carry a book with me wherever I go and whenever I get a spare minute I open it up and read. I take the train to class so that gives me lots of time to read. I also read on breaks and a chapter before bed and all.
I think that reading is important, and it's something I love. You always have to make time for the things that you love.

Hi oXAquaXo,
Our busy schedules have taken all the fun out of our lives. I am a full-time college student; attending classes in the evenings and I work a full-time job during the day, so you can imagine there is no time for me to read, but I still enjoy a good book every once in awhile. I have become a big fan of books on tapes. I check them out at the local library and listen to them while I drive or I will just take some time for myself and relax and listen. I finish the book much faster this way and I haven't lost any time. We have to take time to enjoy life and not let every part of it be about business.

I have a quality time of reading books I just love books and I really can't stay away from it.One of my hobbies is to read a book and keep them in my hand during my work break or even when travelling.
At home I use to have at least few hours of reading and a single book will last for 1 day or 2 days.Reading a book can refresh mind and as you just said it can improves vocabulary and even can learned more about things in life.
Happy myLotting!!

I'm also getting busy at high school. But I give myself time to relax and enjoy mylotting. I do not even have time to read anymore. I'm more focused in reading my textbooks and studying. I am sometimes busy in mylot that I forget to read books. High school life really gives great pressure but you can have a successful life if you take it seriously.

I love to read, but I don't do much of it. The only time I really read seriously is in bed before turning out the light. I'll read for something like 10 minutes or a quarter of an hour. That is really all the time I can afford; but I love doing it. I'll read online when I'm low on energy; but in general, I prefer to create if I've enough energy to do it. You are right: reading is wonderful fun; and the little I do I am absolutely hooked on!

I finished school quite some time ago, so I do have time to read. Presently I'm almost finished a huge book of 65 short stories by W.Somerset Maugham. There are 937 pages in this book. Its taken some time, but has been a pleasure to read because Mr.Maugham has a way with words. One of his things is to describe his story characters in such a manner that the reader can visualize them as if they were alive.

yeah, reading indeed enriches not only our vocabulary and perspectives, but overall, our lives. i admire your love for reading. and it is commendable to know your meaningful activities aside from your studies. well, you still have a lot of time in your hand being young. it is hard to keep up with reading, but good books never age. they will always be there waiting for us. best wishes.

I don't have the time I'd like to spend reading.
I'm also in high school, and that is what consumes all my time. All the morning I go to the high school, and then in the afternoon, I use to do homework. This last years, teachers from different signatures have left me a lot of homework to do, so doing it consumes almost most of my time.
I really like reading, but now I only have time to read the books I have to read as homework. That's annoying.
