While I was at my daughter's the cat went missing. We looked and looked and then we found her - asleep on top of the fridge freezer!! Now that is what I CALL a cool cat!!! Does your cat find strange places to sleep?

Hiya chem, I love that Photo of that Cat. He is so very cool and relaxed. We should take a note out of his Diary. Remember be cool and relaxed no matter what. That is a hard thing to do nowadays but not impossible though. Our Cat always used to make a beeline for my lap and he would settle into a deep sleep and if I tried to get up he would climb off very unwillingly and his claws were very sharp being outside all the time and they hurt like crazy. But he never scratched on purpose. He would never go to sleep on anyone else´s lap except mine. I don´t know why it did amuse me most of the time. The trouble was he always chose to sleep when I needed to go home to my own House round the Corner. I like the way he is lying on top of that Fridge. Perhaps he feels safer up there. He could almost put up a do not disturb sign to go with it.

Hiya chem, Oh it´s she I see. Well who can blame her. If I found a place to have a quick nap I would be like that as well. Just let the World go by. Who would not want to do that? I love to have quiet time on my own it´s a must for anyone. That´s what I love about Cats and Dogs they have that ability to relax and chill out.

Yes that would be most appropriate!! The silly thing was as we searched she just lazily looked down at us without moving a muscle or answering our calls!!

I know the feeling as we lost our cat a few years ago when he was little more than a kitten. He decided to go out one night when we were all in bed and didn't return for over a week. When he came home he looked a complete mess with his coat all ruffled and he looked as if he'd been fighting -which he probably had. Anyway, we got him neutred and that never happened again. He was a Manx cat (tail-less) and was always quite agressive and independent, but we all loved his character. Happy New Year! _Derek

Poor kitty!!! Manx cats are quite rare aren't they? I have seen a few of them over the years, I have even seen them in the isle of Man, but I haven't seen one for years.

Manx is a purebred cat breed and there are other cats that can have no tail that are not purebred. We have one now with a stubby tail who is a part of a feral litter but he is not Manx. I think you are right, though, that it is a rare breed. My brother-in-law had one many years ago but I have not seen one since then, either.

I had a cat awhile ago who loved to sleep in the bathroom sink. I didn't mind except first thing in the morning I had to remove the cat, every day, so I could get ready for the day. I didn't mind it any other time of the day, only when my brain wasn't fully awake yet. They do tend to find odd places to sleep. My current cat, Bean, likes to sleep on a bookshelf I have in the bedroom. The bottom shelf doesn't have any books on it, only some shoeboxes. He sleeps on top of the shoeboxes. Sometimes it boggles the mind as to how the cats find these places comfortable, does't it?

That is a great photo, Chem! Hilarious. I can just see her watching you all calmly while you search frantically for her. Our Chester will get between my knees on the bed and I have a heckuva time extricating myself when I have to get up to go to the little girls' room. I often have to call my daughter to come move him for me because he will just lay there no matter what. Since my knee surgery, his ten pounds can really pin me down! The really funny thing is that if my daughter (or I) grab him by the scruff and drag him to another place on the bed, he will just lie there as if he was never disturbed at all! Talk about lazy! Look the word up in the dictionary and there's his picture! LOL

Ours is currently huddling behind the TV. We have had hm from rescue for just over 4 weeks, and he's still skittish. Our work pattern does not help either. I guess that he's a media cat then?

I have a cardboard box under the shredder to hold the shredded paper and of course the cats have discovered this nice box fill of comfortable paper. So before I put anything through the shredder I have to check the box to make sure that there's no cat in there. Not that it'd be hurt, but it'd be frightened by the shredder suddenly starting up. They are always finding new places to sleep though and I think that the shredder box has dropped out of favour now since I've not seen one of them go in there recently.

we always have cats on top of the fridges or freezer - in fact, earlier this evening I was talking to Elmer and Emily who were on top of the freezer glaring at me now, one time just before we went to work we heard a cat crying and crying - turned out Flower had jumped into the fridge the last time the roomie went in there and if we hadn't heard her, she may not have survived!

Silly Flower!! That would have been really tragic, they are just so inquisitive aren't they?

My parents had a siamese cat that they named Precious and she'd get on top of the freezer from time to time. When she was up there, dad would come in and had to walk around the freezer, Precious would swipe down at him and grab his hat right off of his head! Dad never saw it coming! lol She was a right comical cat. She did all sorts of things that made us all laugh. Dad would go into his sneezing fits and sneeze one right after the other and Precious would get tired of hearing it and MEOOOW! and dad would tell her "Oh shut up cat!" and we'd all laugh our butts off! She'd even back up to dad so he could kick her or boot her and she'd back right back up to him so he'd do it again and again. She was awesome.

I have 3 manx cats. Yes they do find odd places to sleep. The oddest was Bubba Kat. One morning after taking a shower i had a towel wrapped around my head. Bubba thought it was a new bed. He curled up right there on top of my towel covered head. Hes not one to like getting out of my way either. He stayed there for a whole photo shoot. My cameras happen to be on my desk so i started taking pics.

That is funny we were only talking about Manx cats in an earlier response and saying how rare they were now!!

Cats seem to like to be where it is high so they can keep an eye on things. Territorial protection, I guess. There are lots of little hidey-holes in my apartment where my cat can go hide if she wants. If I can't find her, I just wait a while and she'll eventually show up. She usually stays in the room where I am. I don't think she'd go outside even if the door was left open for hours. I've tested this by going out and getting something from the car or mailbox and she just sits at the doorway and looks.

Why go out in the cold when she's snug and warm indoors!! This cat thinks she's the queen of the house and that the family are her pets!!

That's not just your cat that has those sentiments; it's ALL cats. We were made to run and fetch for THEM. The first and last thing a cat does for us is to agree to let us live with them. But I love 'em.

At the stable I work part-tme at there is one cat who sleeps all over the place! jane, the cat,has been seen sleeping on the manure pile! Sleeping in some the stalls! She was found once in a trash can sleeping! Once someone found Jane sleeping in a box of Christmas decorations! Another time one of the boarders found Jane sleeping on top of the cat food that was in an old trash can! Jane will sleep anywhere! Never seen a cat sleep in places she does until she came along!

Our cat crawls up to the top of our attaches garage. But she can't seem to make her way down. She will sit on the trusses about the door and look down at you. We lift her down all the time. I will have to take a picture and post it sometime. lol

Back in April my husband lost our canadian lynx, which is an exotic wild cat for those who don't know. Well, at least he thought he had lost her. Apparently, Isis had torn a hole into the box spring under my bed and crawled up in there to sleep. Can you imagine that!? A 35 lb. lynx asleep in your bed. She finally came out a few hours later, of course when mommy came home. :)

My goodness are you allowed to keep Lynx as pets!! That must be an incredible thing, presumably she is very tame!!

One of ours has been ill recently so he's sleeping in our bedroom. He likes to get under the bed and into the drawers where we keep the blankets. It really isn't strange because he's out of any drafts and on a pile of soft and warm woollens!
