Can you wear sweats to work?

By sweats, I mean sweatpants, lounge pants, yoga pants, whatever you want to call 'em. I am starting to particularly dislike my job, but I like that I can throw on a pair of black sweats, or like today - grey track pants - and not get in trouble for it (as long as I have a company smock/polo/sweater/hoodie on, as well). I like this option. It makes no sense, because we aren't allowed to wear jeans (but we are allowed to wear sweats? Weird, unwritten rules, as surely we'd look more professional in jeans..) but I won't complain. Can you wear sweats to work?

I do right now as I am working from home as a freelance writer, but when I worked for a national chain grocery store, I could not. We had to wear certain color pants and a company shirt. It was hard to buy clothes for it as you would always tear them up as soon as you bought them. I would love to be able to go to work in sweats if I wanted. Where do you work?

We don't have a dress code at work, but I don't think I could get away with wearing sweatpants. I think I have seen a few girls at work wearing yoga pants, but I don't think anybody dared say anything. I saw a guy once wearing track pants, but he was a programmer. He stays in a dark room and would just come out to take a leak which is just beside his office.

Sounds like you are comfortable in both jeans and sweats. I am too. I can wear whatever I want, because I am the boss of my home :) lol...yes, I can wear jeans and sweats to work.

At my old job I could dress in whatever I wanted. If I wanted to come to work in my p.j.'s I could. I was the office manager there, and could pretty much get away with whatever I wanted. I did always dress in business casual just because that was what I preferred. I worked at a Tile and Granite company, so on some days I did wear sweats or jeans when I would go back in the shop because it was really dusty back there.

I have never tried. But I am pretty sure it would be frowned upon where I work...

I could, our dress code is very lenient. However I won't because I don't like sweatpants. I got a sweatshirt from Christmas & am taking it back next time I go to the store.

In my previous job we can year anything we like as long as it can handle the cold. The air conditioning in our room is way too high so you have to wear jackets and pants. It could be any kind of pants as long as it will keep you warm. We have a dress code but no one really followed it. Even our supervisors wore whatever they liked.
