Chess Pie Help Please

Last night I made a chess pie. I followed the directions exactly as it was the first time I'd made the recipe. It didn't end up awful but it's not like any chess pie I've ever eaten. The undercrust was soggy and the filling wasn't set well. I cooked it just a little beyond the recommended time so it should have set, right? Even left it in the oven during the cool-down. I used 5 eggs, brown and granulated sugar and melted butter. Should the butter have been left solid and creamed with the sugar? I had researched recipes and one only site said not to melt the butter. It also called for heavy cream which I used but really didn't see the point to that.
So do any of you have any recommendations or thoughts about this folly?

Happy new year. Sounds to me as if it didn't cook long enough for one thing. U can't always go my the cooking directions because ovens differ.I never heard of putting cream in a chess pie. I always melt my buteer. Have a great recipe for chess pie if u'd like to have it just pm me.

Having not cooked long enough shouldn't have made the crust soggy should it? It was in the oven a good hour as I made allowance for the extra time it took me to open the oven and put on foil around the crust to keep it from getting too brown. That took a bit.
Thanks for your reply and Happy New Year too you as well. Maybe I should make a resolution to make a better chess pie, huh?
P.S. I've sent FR so I can get your recipe.

Now you've made me curious and I'll have to look up the recipe for this one.
