I wonder how racism is in other countries.

I know that in the United States there is a lot of racism. Whites are supposed to be the majority and blacks and other races are supposed to be the minorities. There are a lot of white people who hate blacks but there is also a lot of blacks who hate whites.
I wonder if I went to Africa where pretty much everyone is black if a white person comes to their land if they treat them with respect or if racism is prevelant there as well. I'm sure it occurs everywhere but it just makes me wonder.

Hi shaggin.
Racism and differentiation are not limited to countries and the harsh fact is that they exist in every society and every country where there are people.
Whether you experience it or now is on your luck at that instance and many are not always lucky.
In India, if you arrived, you would be greeted and trust me you would feel on top of the world. This is valid only until you stay limited / confined to posh hotels, good tour organizers and the bigger cosmopolitan locations - people out there are more interested in the foreign currency you would get - so it is more kind of business for them no personal issues.
But then if ever you get beyond these, you would see that it was all a make belief world - they expected you to come stay for a specific time and return. If you took longer, they would show the real kind and that is shocking many a times.
Lastly, if you happen to get to some good people, you would be welcome and they would do this from their heart. In India we still believe - Guest Is God and many follow this. But as I mentioned, it is more about your luck that day
Cheers,
theSids.

Well I guess its good that all the racists arent just American so that means our country isnt the worst place to live when it comes to racism. Its sad though that no matter where we go we will always be surrounded by recism. The rich people do look down on the poor people. I dont know if its the other way around. I have respect for all races and all people no matter how much money they have.

i'm sure racism exists in every part of the world... the question is, how bad it is... here, it is not too bad as the government try their best to prevent discrimination and racism here with legal law... but still, there are still some racism happening to a certain ethnic here which is very sad... take care and have a nice day...

There is an increasing amount of racism/discrimination here. For example Geert Wilder's Freedom Party members hate Muslims and especially those who are too lazy to work and speak English.
I agree on some points with the Freedom Party but not on everything.

Thats an interesting question. I am British but live in America - my husband is American. I know we have racism in England, but I was surprised when I came over here at the separation between different communities, and the things I have heard people say which would just not be acceptable among my friends back home. It has also been interesting to see the differences in living among a different set of ethnic groups here to those I did in England.
I think it is therein some form everywhere, maybe but expresses itself against different groups, sadly.

Differentiation on the colur and creed is not of todays issue. It was there from a long time ago. As you said, it is not only in US, but as a plague, it affected all over the world. Also, within the same colour itself, there are still divisions based on wealth and knowledge. I am sure that it is not going to change or improve. Unless the thinking is not changed, we never can expect a change in any of these concepts.
In fact why? Why the colour distinction. Even in our country also, no so much on colour, but there are so many divisions are there among the people. Religion, wealth, education, race, etc. Might is power and power is might. Like that, colour is power and power is with right. Do you think people will change from this concept.
Yes, it is possible. There should have famine or the current people should experience the face to face difficulties and then they will realise. I know all such things are beyond our imagination and it is far different than the reality. A minority is still suffering from such upper cast or colur. The are just self proclaims that they are superior.
It is an open fact that there is no superior or inferior. But it the need of the time to show their superiority via colour and all.
Hope these 'cultured' group of people wold think on day that they are really nothing in front of someone.....
Thank-s
