I am determined to make it work this time.
I have one left, once I smoke it, that's it for me.
This will give me a few days to go through the painful withdrawal that I've experienced in the past with it, but if I'm not working, it will be easier to just sleep it off.
I know it will be better for me in the long run, I've noticed that in the past, but have never successfully quit in the past for more than a year.
But I woke up this morning knowing that I can do this, I just need to kick myself a few times to make sure I don't fail.
This time, failure is not an option, I will fight the temptation every step of the way.
Today is the start of a new year, and also the start of a new life for me. I plan to make the most of it.

Oh, good luck Kris, better to quit now and enjoy the better health. Remember to drink lots of water, possibly gatorade. I have never smoked but I have had plenty of family members that did.

Hi GG
Happy 2011
I must admit the advice of drinking plenty of water is really effective when you start quitting these nicotine stuffs. It helped me a lot during those days.

Hi Kris182_2000,
I realize this post was made several months ago, but I was wondering how are you doing? Are you still not smoking? in 3 weeks it will be 2 years I've quit finally and after several tries I thank the Lord daily for delivering me from it. I pray that you have been successful with it.

Horay for you. I wish success for you. I quit two times myself. The second time was for good. You just have to keep fighting the urge. It will get so strong youdont think you can handle it. But when you hang in there and keep fighting it they do subside. Jsut think how smelly they are. They make evrything stink. You hair, your clothes, your house, your car, your breath. it fills your lungs with tar and enlarges your heart. As well as causes all kinds of cancer. Once you quit these effect reverse. Your lungs clear out in time, your heart goes back to normal size.
Quiting gains years to your life.
Smoking shortens it.
Reward for smoking ends with you getting to carry your oxygen around with you till the day you die.

What was the reasons you want to quit smoking? It may sound like a stupid question. I don't smoke so I don't need to try harder to quit smoking. Which leads to another questions: when do you smoke? why do you smoke?
Is it because of the taste? Maybe you can snack. Or something else? What I'm trying to say is what will you do in the place of smoking?

Good for you! That's an amazing goal to set for the New Year! If you do need help, I was going to suggest you try talking to your doctor about Chantix. I used to work in a medical office and the doctor prescribed it for all of his patients who wanted to quit smoking. I believe it was developed by a doctor who had a hard time quitting and he didn't want anyone else to have to go through that. Good luck!

Congratulations on your quitting day! New Year's day is a great day to start a new resolution and quitting smoking should be on everyone's list. I myself quit smoking last February when I came back home and both of my brothers had quit (on New Year's too). They have not smoked for over one year now and I am very proud of them. I am back in school right now with a bunch of smokers but I haven't really been tempted to smoke so that's a good thing. I will try to convince my friends to stop smoking. You should start exercising a lot too. Quitting smoking makes cardiovascular fitness easier and you'll need to to keep off the weight that can creep up on you because you quit smoking. Try to chew gum instead of snacking when you need an oral fix. Good luck with your endeavors and happy new year!

Good luck!
Quitting smoking is certainly very hard. But it seems like you are very determined to make it happen for you, and that's good. Just don't be too hard on yourself if you lapse every now and then.
Have a great new year ahead!

good luck for your determination... i hope it will really work for you this time... i'm not a smoker but i know how hard it is to quit smoking based on other people's experiences... it takes lots of hard will and determinations to be able to do that... but since you already say that this time failure is not an option and you will fight the temptation every step of the way, i'm sure you will succeed... all the best for you... take care and have a nice day...

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, I am quitting as well. I went in to the doctor yesterday, thinking what I had was a pinched nerve in my shoulder, well, it turned out to be a disease called Buerger's Syndrome. It was due to smoking and so I have no choice but to quit as well. I am determined to quit and failure to do so will be detrimental to my health, so failure for me is not an option-good luck.

Hi kris,
That is a great start indeed
I too was a chain smoker and used to puff off 40 of those sticks a day but then one day I started out with Not to Use them. A Tough and Harrowing time I remember in the initial few days... but here was what helped me - maybe it can also work out for you -
When you feel the desire to have one, brush your teeth. This helped me in reducing the desire to go back to the habit and yes, as GG mentioned - drink loads of water - it would help in detoxifying.
Good Luck and May You be Stronger than the Desire to go back.
Cheers,
theSids.

That is a very good thing for you. You don't want to have a fatal lung cancer do you? Start a new life without those hazardous objects to our health.

I have tried to quit smoking at some very important dates. But got to conclusion, that there is no need to wait for perfect moment to do things (also quit smoking).
One day I statrted thinging, "what does smoking gives to me?"
And more I tried to figure it out, more I understud that nothing...
And every time I got the feeling "I need to smoke" I asked this question to me?
This was a godd tip for me Hope that it could help you too :)
