When I was young I remember what my parents told me to consult a dictionary if I don't remember the spelling or meaning of each word. And now we used dictionary when we are playing Scrabble.
How about you? Do you still use your dictionary or all based online?
Good day!
God bless!

I use it to look up some spellings for responses on here! When I was younger I was a good speller. I haven't worked for a few years and I don't read as much as I did, so I need a refresher. When I send e-mails I use the spell check, but I can't find anything like that on here, so I use the dictonary.

Well Spelling is about memorization and it test how sharp is your memory. But as we don't use the word in everyday life so we still forgot the word no matter what. So like what you did we have to read and read and read to program our mind and the later on we will never forget it again.
Reading dictionary is a non stop learning so better to do it as a habit.
Good day!

All kinds of dictionary are good for me. When I read I use to consult them very often, either online or in paper. I do this for spelling in foreign languages or meaning for my native language or foreign languages. Dictionaries are of great help for enriching the vocabulary.

While playing Scrabble we still prefer to use dictionary book than online search. Its much easier and lesser in electricity consumption. Here we need to connect first before we can use the internet. And when I have no time to use the computer I prefer to turn it off.
Reading dictionary is a quite help to improve the vocabulary as we do it consistently may we have a brighter knowledge.
Good day!

Today actually. I keep my dictionary beside my work station at all times and use it as often as I need to. Sometimes I want to check the spelling, sometimes I need to look up the meaning of a word.
Today I even used Dictionary.com because I wanted a synonym for a word.

Daieian ~ I admire your knowledge of English...I have only one language. Usually, a thesaurus is used to find synonyms and antonyms but Dictionary.com has it all at your fingertips. I have it bookmarked in MY FAVOURITES. It's free. I know it's easy to be lazy but do try and use your dictionary as required...it's such a good habit to have.

Synonym of the word? Is that Thesaurus? I just don't know how to use everything until i graduated College and feels like stupid in English. I know lots of things. A little bit talented and skilled but its not enough in real world. They need those people who is really fluent in English.
So now I often used it. But sometimes laziness strikes me.

I can't remember the last time i did open my dictionary. When i have words that i don't know the meaning, i usually go online and search it up here on mylot or on online dictionaries. I guess dictionaries are not that common these days when we can all easily look the words correct meaning and spelling online.

I still prefer to use dictionary. Its much easier for me since I am not online 24/7 and for me its much easier to find something in the dictionary. Since I have a dictionary on the table of my computer.
Spelling is not really matters. You can use you computer on checking the right spelling.
I only used online search in finding some pictures, new things and other meanings too.
Good day!
God bless!

I do keep my teachers advice to consult the dictionary for words that I do not know or the thesaurus for new words to learn. I do keep this especially when I am reading books( I do love reading even at a young age). But nowadays even If there is the internet having a pocket dictionary is still very useful, my daughter also needs it for school as well so i bought her one set.

If got will give me a chance to go back into the past years I will choose in grade school while Im studying in school. I have many things to regret for. But its not getting late and there's still much time to improve myself. I can talk. I can write. I understand all those word but not really perfect and I think its just enough. I just need to improve more.
And If i would have a baby. I will talk to her more often and teach them those importance and knowledge.

I still prefer to use dictionary. Like when we are playing scrabble we dont have much time to get log in the computer then search for something since we still want to save electric consumption.
I only search for something in the computer if its really complicated and need more explanation.
Good day!

I write a lot nearly every day, on the Internet and preparing articles in my word processor. I have a dictionary on my desk a lot of the time to check for different words and sometimes to check the spelling of a word. It is amazing how the mind can forget how to spell some of the simplest words at times! _Derek

Yes I agree, We often need to consult to the dictionary. I also sometimes forgot even the simplest word. I don't know why. May be because we don't use the word everyday. Since English is not our primary language I often want to use it. Im very much thankful because of mylot I know a little bit improve my grammar and composition.
Its a good room for improvement and its a good place where we can talk and express ourselves too.
Good day!

I never really used a dictionary very much in my life. I dont think I even own one anymore. It would take up room on my bookshelf when I can just look up a word online. Next to me though I do have a thesaurus. I used to love writing poems when I was in high school and for Christmas one year I told them I wanted a thesaurus. I got one and I loved it. I have used it so many times. I dont keep it next to me all the time though. The reason it is down here and not upstairs on the bookshelf is because a few weeks ago I told a friend that I wanted him to dote on me and he didnt know what it meant. I thought well maybe I'm wrong and didnt know the meaning so I went and grabbed my thesaurus and I was right about the way I used the word and what I meant!

I also don't know the meaning of dote. And wait I'll check it out..... I know thesaurus is used to see the synonym of the word am I right? I know in our first house we all had all of that together with the dictionary and world map. And when I was in College I can't remember if I used it.
Now all our things are not all here since we move 3 times. Even my hair clip collection are missing.
Good day!
God bless!

I honestly think that the last time that I actually even used a dictionary was when I was in college. I am doing a lot of writing online these days and I find that my spell checker with my word processing software works just as well as the dictionary in most cases, if not just a little bit better. In addition to that, I have a pretty much photographic memory and that means that once I've seen the spelling of a word once, I never forget how the word is spelled.

Your just familiar to those words you are using. You are so lucky to live in a place where you can speak and understand good in English. It doesn't matter if the last time you look to the dictionary is when your still in College. I think you really don't need it anymore.
Its like your talking in a normal day isn't it? For me its a day by day processing and adapting the grammar and spelling. I need to improve my vocabulary too.
Good day!

I still use dictionaries but mostly online. If you are talking about a book dictionary then it was like 4 years ago. Yeah that long. Online dictionaries is much easier and faster. Though sometimes the disadvantage is that they aren't 100% accurate. But hey its still ok when the world is fast moving. :)

Oh I don't even remember if I use the online dictionary. I still prefer to use the manual or book dictionary than the internet search. We often play Scrabble I think its a good source of knowledge about the word and in playing scrabble we don't need to open the computer just to find the correct spelling and the meaning. We can also same more in electricity.
Yes, not all written in the internet are really accurate.

Im still using booklet dictionary since Im not online all the time. It helps me a lot. I can recall the word and bring up new synonym words.

I am using dictionary everyday.
For my convenient, I am using the online oxford dictionary few minutes ago..
In my country, we are not so common to use English.
In our daily life, we speak our own language or Chinese's dialects.
In government office, we use Malaysian's language or Malay language.
English was popular and widely used only during the British colonel period.
As such, I still have to refer to the dictionary for certain spelling of the English words.

Everyday? I don't often used it. We don't usually used English in normal conversation.
I also have a Chinese dictionary not only the English dictionary. I want to learn more about the Chinese language. Its so cool! And additional knowledge and skills too.
Yes I heard that even those living in the United States also used dictionary to check the meaning and some for the correct spelling too.
Good day!

We only have a Webster dictionary. Its big enough but not complete volume. And while im here in the front of the computer I also have small complete booklet on my own. I can say that I only used it when I met a uncommon word. And then we brought with us my dictionary when we are playing Scrabble at the backyard.
Just like what they said it helps to improve the vocabulary.
Good day!

So you mean your job is to correct the grammar and spelling? For what? Your Boss really needs you beside him. I think there's a lot of reports he must submit. I don't have any idea what is your job and position right now. But all I know is that may be you are really good in English.
I don't use any online dictionary since I have a dictionary here beside me.
Good day!

I do consult a dictionary quite often. I like consulting a dictionary, when I'm not sure of the spelling of a word, or the exact meaning of a word, or something to that effect. I find that having a dictionary helps me, whenever I'm writing something, whether for school or an e-mail or something.

Yes, dictionary is very useful. Its just happen that we played Scrabble and we need to check the correct spelling and also to find out what the meaning of unusual word. Since English is not our prime language here. But we are familiar into those words since its our second language.
I can also use it while im doing some comments here in my lot.
Good day!

I actually purchased a dictionary not too long ago. I tutor one night a week and have found that having a dictionary and a calculator on hand is invaluable! These are two tools I still refuse to be without!

I cant believe this. Imagine even your living in a English speaking country you still using a dictionary. What more for us who English is just our second language. Even me I can't live without calculator too. I often used it to compute the cost of my products since it was my business and source of income too.
I remember when we went to Singapore I bring the Chinese dictionary. But we don't use it often since they all new how to speak English.
Good day!

We also often used dictionary while playing Scrabble since we really memorize all the word and meaning.

I usually use an online dictionary, but I consult it quite often (at least once a week). I've always wanted to have a large vocabulary, so I love learning new words. Actually, the last time I looked in a dictionary was when playing Scrabble last week.

I think playing scrabble is really a good idea to learn more words and improve our vocabulary. Since here English is just our secondary language we don't often used to speak and use English. Im just so happy that i find mylot. It helps me a lot. I can say that I little bit improve my grammar and composition.
Still want to learn more and improve myself too.
Good day!
