Do you have time for yourself?

I always want to spend some time in myself, maybe thinking about life, reading (that's my favorite hobby), or just listen to music and doing nothing. I would like to do this at least an hour every day, but there's where the prob, lem begins. I always have a lot of homework to do, and a lot of other activities, so I can't do what I'd like to do. What about you? You have time for yourself? And if you can give me any advice to solve my problem. Thanks.

That is really good. You have all the time free to do all what you want. I would like to be like that, but I know that I have some responsibilities, and have to do my work now, so, one day I could be like you.

Two years ago, I missed doing the things I wanted because I was so preoccupied with a lot of things in this busy world of ours. One of the things I wanted to do was read good books which a friend enjoys giving me so I filed for a 3-day after weekend thus leaving me 5 days to do anything I wanted to in our time. I finished reading a book half a day, I blogged, I slept the whole afternoon and went driving around the countryside to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea and the mountains. It feels great. However, last year, I was just to preoccupied with a lot of events especially the year-end that I ended up being so stress-out. Till now, i still long to have time for myself were it not for my obligation at work. What I was happy about though, was starting the year working on the farm and being attuned to nature - away from the hassle of city life. Now am back to my old world in the city and the stresses are starting to seep in once again. I take that you're a student. Well, all I can say that you have to focus on what you are to do and don't procrastinate. Do whatever you have to do NOW so that you'll have enough time to do what your heart desires. Lessen your nightlife with your peer if you have many. Good, if you seldom go out at night. In this way, life won't be that complex. Write down your thoughts in your journal to unleash the daily stress you're experience. And make it a point that weekend is for yourself or a bonding with your family.

I'm happy for you, because you've really had fun. That's what I want to get. I want to have fun just a little, but it's really hard to be a student.

See...it depends how r u managing your time. Even I am spending 10+ hours in office. After that when I return back to home hardly i get time to spend with myself. But everyday after dinner, I spend atleast half an hour with myself. I used to think about the whole day, about my life, may be reading some of my postings, analyse them etc. So I will say its not necessary that you have to spend the time with your self at a specific time. Whenever you get time, spend with you. Thats how things will be easier.

In my opinion, take time for myself doesn't mean reading or listen to music and doing nothing. It means that I can take time at right time for right person. If you have many courses and activities to join, just leave off some of them.

Living with two children, a developementally disabled sister, and a crazy mother in a two bedroom apartment I never get any alone time. No matter what time of day if it someone is always around asking me questions. Sometime it's really annoying. I would love to have a day all to myself where I can sleep all night, in peace!

It seems like you really need a day off. I think you should try to go on vacation or something like that. It may not be a large one, but you could take a short vacation of one day. Do something you like, and try to get far from your home.

I believe that we all need to take the time for ourselves. We do so much for other people throughout our day. Taking time to do something for ourselves gives our lives the balance we need.

I can definitely relate to your situation, for the last year or so I haven't had anytime to myself. Between work, in which I am there for approximately 9 hours and home chores as well as kids and then finally end the night with school work/homework I finish finish by 11PM and sometimes I am so tired that I don't even make it that far. Before this October, I had not been on a weekend get away with my hubby for more than 4 years. But this year, my husband surprised and took me to Orlando just the two of us. That was so relaxing and refreshing, being able to wake at your own time without kids screaming and trying to wake you up. Having peace and quite to sit down and enjoy a movie. Don't take me wrong I love my kids, and love spending time and doing activities with them, but once in a while you just need that time alone.
