I don't mean the illegal kind! I am talking about the ones you can grow easily in the spring in 1 gallon pots. Do any of you mylotters sell plants like schrubs and flowers to make extra money in the spring, and summer? I personally sell banana trees, citrus trees, and palm trees down here in Florida.

I think that is a wonderful idea. You live in an area that you can do that. I wish I did because I would definitely take advantage of it. What part of Florida do you live in?

Are you near Miami then? My husband has an uncle in Naples. I'm hoping that when our kids are older that we can move to Florida too. My body craves sunshine!

I live in South Florida, and I love it down here. I was fortunate enough to find a fixerupper on a half acre of land. I would love to turn the backyard into a banana plantation with a pond in the middle but, that's just a dream for the time being. Right now it's back to grouting tiles on the back patio.

I have not done that. I would not have a lot to sell. I buy plants in the spring from the garden club, they do it as a fund raiser for their club.

Try growing carrots, peppers, and tomatos. I have heard of people selling their vegatables to their local restaurants. A lot of the owners love to support the community and buy organic at the same time.

I would just end up going to the farmer's market to sell. It may happen.

Hi Fixerupper, that is a very good idea, provided you have garden at home. It is impossible for me to sell plants and flowers to make extra money, since I stay in high rise apartment. I just plant spring onions, so that I have some green in the instant noodle if I do not feel like eating out.

Try growing majesty palms in a pot. If you learn how to seperate them, you can sell your extras on craigslist. They usually come in bunches when you buy them from the nursery, or home improvement stores.

Thats a great idea! As a kid we had a group of us that used to sell herbs and vegetables etc I think its a great idea if you can manage to get a loyal customer base and would suggest branching out(no pun intended) into compost etc as well, the organic self-made stuff is really easy and healthy.

One guy I read about sells vegatables for homemade salsa at his yard sales in Southern California. He said that even with a limited amount of space he can grow onions, tomatos, peppers, cilantro, and leaks. If you live where it's very cold, try growing container plants indoors in the room that receives the most sun.

I do sell harvest from my trees, but this is only during harvest time. I also give out harvest crops for free to some people whom I know value backyard farming!

That is great, you are selling good organic fruit to local people. Keep up the good work!

I nearly did think the illegal kind! :D That actually sounds like a good business! And Florida of all places would be great for growing plants! I've visited before, and it's generally very lovely weather and very sunny. Congratulations on your earnings so far, and good luck for the future! :) All the best, Luke

Thank you for the response, and the well wishes. I really enjoy the banana trees because they yield fruit every year behind my house. Banana smoothies are my favorite during harvest time.
