Have you ever tried to interpret your dreams??

I started a dream journal not too long ago. I have always been interested in dreams and dream interpretation, but I had just never really written it down before. I found a site called dreammoods.com. It is a really cool site. You can just type keywords into the search and it will tell you what it could symbolize. It also has some basic information about different types of dreams such as daydreams, lucid, recurring, etc; and also talks about some very common dreams like naked, falling, etc.

Most of my dreams involve falling, being trapped in high locations from which I cannot descend, and being killed. I think that most of these relate to the way that financial corporations try to restrict my life by seizing every opportunity to seize profit from us.

I don't really think that's true. It just doesn't make sense.

I've tried but I don't always succeed. Sometimes, there is an event and then I remember having a dream with elements that seem to have pertained to that real-life event. It leads me to think that some of my dreams are a glimpse into what may happen. But I don't take them seriously because I tend to have bad dreams and I don't want to think of them as omens.

That's actually why I like to interpret my dreams. The more I pay attention to my dreams, the less my mind needs to keep trying to tell me things through my dreams and the better dreams I tend to have. I believe that some dreams may be glimpses into the future, but in most cases, I don't think this is so. I don't think your dreams are omens, but rather just your subconscious trying to help you sort things out in your waking life.

I like the way you put it - dreams helping us sort things out. Just last night I dreamt about my family having to move to a new house secret. I already forgot the details or the reasons why, but we had to move really fast. Anyhoo. Thanks for a nice conversation. :)

Until now I never, but honestly, if I get a bad dream I would be very anxious until I'm really not sure to make sure nothing happened to me. I believe in most cases, the dream is related to reality.
Ok, I'm glad you gave that link, I'll save and try it for my nightmares. lol

Thank you for giving me an idea where we could have our dreams interpreted. We usually try to think what those dream really symbolizes. But as far as I am concerned it is really uncertain what this dreams really mean.

I've always tried to interpret my dreams when I remember them
But my problem is that I can hardly remember my dreams, I think I remember just two or three dreams a month.
The dreams I have are always very violent, I mean, killing people, die, being killed, etc. I don't know why I dream this, but I suppose I remember those dreams because they are very shocking to me.

If you don't remember much of your dreams, it just means that you are probably a deep sleeper. You're violent dreams may be your subconscious trying to tell you something, especially if you find them shocking, but perhaps not. Sometimes we just dream random things.

As I said, I rarely remember my dreams. But last night, I dreamed that I was a dog(or an animal like dog), and that I loved my life was walking trough the city without any worrying or anything to care about.
I think I should interpret(or try to) this dream.

I have heard dream exists only for 5-6sec. But I am a dreamer. And everytime I wake up from sleep, I use to remember that I have seen a dream. And in most of the cases, the dream is very big like I am travelling somewhere, and have met someone over there...like that. So I am pretty much sure that, it cant be completed by 5-6sec. But yes...I always try to interpret them, think about them. Even use too discuss with someone about them. But never visited a site. Surely I will try this one.

I myself have heard 20 minutes, but according to Dreammoods.com, it says you can be dreaming for 2 hrs in a good 8-hour sleep.

I've read that the average is 15 minutes, but people can dream up to 2 hours if you sleep 8 continuous hours.
Some time before, people thought that the dreams lasted seconds, but now is scientifically validated that the average is 15 mins.

Dreams are really based on the individual, rather then a mass group of people... like, 5 people could dream of a flower, but to one it was a flower they brought to their future wife at a later date, to another, it's the flower they put on the grave of a friend, to another, it grew outside their place growing up, and took over the yard, to another, it's only one they saw in a store, but knew nothing about it... each of these is a different interpretation on the exact same item, we all think about things differently, so I don't give much credit to sites like dreammoods.com, or anything like that... Freud had put it the best in showing how dreams are about the individual, and the events may seem very normal to them, but they sound like madness to someone else...

Yes different things have different meanings for different people; this site and other dream dictionaries are just common suggestions, but I still find they come in handy. I am definitely not a fan of Freud myself, but yes I get what you are saying. Dreams are all about the subconscious. At any rate, I like to use dream dictionaries like this one just as a basis because although people do all think differently, socio-cultural influence still has a big impact on certain symbolicism. I look up all the individual symbols I am not sure about and then try to find a pattern and relation to my life.

Interpreting our own dreams can be something difficult to achieve. We might see things in a different light. We may try to put our on focus on the dresm because it is what we want.

I think that a person can only interpret their own dreams because different things mean different things to different people and only we can know what those things mean to us; what is going on in our life; and even how a particular dream made us feel. I don't really think there is any bias to it. It's our dreams trying to tell us something.

No, I have not really tried to interpret my dreams. I just remember bits and pieces of them a lot of the time. Every now and then, I do remember a dream in a more solid manner. However, that is really few and far between. Still, if I thought about it, I could perhaps think of something but I tend to not think about my dreams too much, unless it is something that I would remember off hand. Still I can see why it might be interesting to think about.

Starting a dream journal sounds like a very interesting thing to do, I should probably start doing that because I have the strangest dreams. I dream a lot, usually five days out of a week. Sometimes Its 3-4 dreams per night. Sounds crazy huh? In most of my dreams I am always being chased by sometime sinister. When I'm trying to get away from the thing that's chasing me I usually feel like I'm running in slow motion and I can't get away fast enough. It also depends on what is going on in my life at the moment, If I have a big exam coming up, my dreams are usually in schools. I'm familiar with dreammoods.com as well. When I searched for information about my dream, I was told that Whenever I'm being chased it means I'm running away from something in my life or I am hesitant to face or tackle a problem. I'm usually skeptical about things like that but Its still a cool website.

Dreams are a personal thing and left up to the dreamer's interpretation. Different things mean different things to different people.

Good Day!
I always dream every night and my dreams are always weird like flying, having a super powers and many more that is really impossible to happen so I always consult the internet to know what's the meaning of my dream. Though I know its meaning, I still don't believe it 100%. It still depends on me but I really like it I'm reading those meanings and interpretations.

You don't need to believe it 100%. All people think differently and so your mind may associate something with a different symbolic meaning than the internet or books suggest. They are just listing common interpretations. This is why it's also good to note personal associations/experiences and also the feelings you felt in your dream. For example, something may hold a certain nostalgia for a particular person that may be meaningless to another.

I admit I as sceptical at first as I didn't agree with mysticism, but upon looking at the dream moods site, I must admit I'm really impressed with it. I've always been intersted in the scientific and psychological aspect of dreaming.
I know that I dream in colour, and sometimes I remember a dream, then I forget, ha ha. I should get a pad of paper to record my dreams, because I do want to dabble a bit in lucid dreaming, wondering how far my adventures will go! (er, or do I wanna know?! LOL)
I do know that I have dreams fairly often about being in love with someone, maybe that's becaue I spend too much time in romance novels? :-p *blush*

Well I wouldn't call it mysticism. Our minds just often try to work things out in our dreams and often uses symbolicism, although what we personally associate with something is all up to us, but people often have certain symbols in common because of societal influence.

I am a dreamer and it's very rare that i would forget my dream at all. I tried to interpret it myself but then i don't really care whether they will affect my life or not.
Sometimes i would talk in my sleep, get angry, laugh and even cry. If i have some problems, i would have a very sad dream and cry in my sleep. That would wake me up with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.
I will try to check the site that you mentioned and let's see what my dreams are all about. Thanks.

Dreams can give us real good insight into our subconscious. Crying in your sleep is definitely something that I think you should check out. I would think that it means that something is bothering you pretty bad. Well good luck. Thanks for responding.
