One should not be expected to wait for love. promises are important it is true, but often one thinks the other will want to wait forever, I would find this selfish. I think if one can't be with the other, he would let this one break the promise, realizing that she too needs to move on.

I would agree with that, but I have known some to disagree. It is irresponsible to "lead" someone on with the expectation that someday they would be married, unless both have made the choice.."not to marry, yet be friends and in a relationship."

When me and my husband first met we never talked about marriage. We were both coming out of a divorce. I heard him one time tell his ex that he never planned on getting married again. I was so upset even though it's something I didn't know if I was ready. Over the long run he finally told me when he accepted the Lord that we had to get married if we were to do what was right in God's eyes. We've been together now 18 years.

I have not decided to get married yet because I have other plans before marriage and then I will get married. I have girl friend but I have told her that it is not the time for me to get married and I don't promise to marry her. We are agreed to this thing and the relation is still going. I think this is the best way to maintain a relation. Be truthful and respectful to everything and you will never get hurt. I wish you good luck.

Do you spend time with this girl? Or no time, yet expect her to wait for you with the promise of eventually to marry?
