My New Year Surprise

I've been away from myLot for awhile, just logging in every now and then to read some discussions. I would like to share this story of mine and maybe you guys might share some nice stories too. New years Eve, and well, as the clock struck midnight, I started calling my friends and families to wish them. After being unable to get through some of my friends because of the phone lines being jammed, I decided to call a friend of mine who I've lost touch about 3 years ago. I did not even think for a minute there that I would be able to get through to her. I was frustrated not to be able to get through to most of my friends and tried her number just out of boredom. I was shocked when the line goes through and my friend picked up the phone!! We were screaming like kids. It has been the best surprise ever. Now, let me tell her story and how we've lost touch. First, how we lost touch. She was going through some tough times when I've last heard from her. She lives in North Carolina and me in India. We communicated mainly by email and occasional phone calls. At one point, she hasn't replied my email. She's usually quick to reply emails. One day, the email I've sent her bounced. I could not understand why. Resent, again bounced back. I tried calling her, could not get through. On New Years Eve and subsequent email later, I've learnt that her email was connected to her internet connection, which is in her husband's (now EX-husband) name, who cancelled the connection. Their marriage has been tottering on the rocks for sometime (even before we lost touch). Then she had a series of misfortunes and in one of the misfortunes she broke her leg, torn a ligament in her knee, then had to undergo series of surgeries. During one of the many hospitalisations, she overheard her husband talking to his girlfriend!!!! He had been having an affair for quite sometime and when she was lying in a hospital bed, he was on the phone with the gf telling her how much he loves her and how he can't wait to be with her!!! The F-ing Husband. So she divorced him, moved to her parents house for sometime. I am very glad to know now that she is now happy, finally after years of being shut out and mistreated emotionally by the lying and cheating husband. Let me hear your wonderful New Year Story now.
