When we all were little at one time I remember crying if my parents had to take me to the doctor or dentist like all the time throwing a fit why did we do that? And kids these days still do it. I wonder what made us so scared then. Now it is one of those things that we don't want to do but we have to do it with no other option. My question to you is do you still get scared, nervous? Do you still cry when they say you have to have a shot or surgery? Why then and not now? You ever wonder that? I don't cry anymore sometimes I do get nervous and if they tell me I need a shot I will ask them for a pill!! I get so scared at the site of needles even if they show it on television I have to change the channel! Are you like that?

I think that as a child it is so normal to be afraid, as many of us had immunizations so each time the needle came to mind.
Now as an adult I believe when it come to surgery, even if minor we think about the probabilities of something going wrong and not coming out of anesthesia.

The only thing that really bothered me when I was a kid was needles. I can remember feeling very nervous whenever I was told that I had to have a shot or have blood drawn. As I got older, and especially when I began having my kids, I managed to let go of the fear....probably because I had to go through having my blood drawn several times. Now, the only thing that really bothers me is having to have any kind of surgery. I get anxious and worried about how the anesthesia will effect me and the procedure itself. I didn't cry any of the times that I had to have surgery, but I was worried to the point of feeling that I had to make sure that everybody that I am close to in my life knew that I love them....just in case.

Personally I just think it is a normal reaction that happens. Sometimes it could be the Parent themselves is afraid of Doctors or dentists and shots and needles to where the kid cries just because of that Fear that the parent has instilled in them. I know I have been known to Cry when I find out there is really something wrong with me still like when told I need to have Surgery, etc. I think is a nervous Scared reaction and then I just Pray about it before it really happens and know everything is going to be OK.

I'm afraid all the time. When I was a kid, I always cried for shots but as I grew older, I was able to handle it, even if I'm scared. I was really afraid when I went through surgery but I tolerated it. But now that I've seen my friend faint after she donated blood, I am more afraid of drawing blood because I don't want to faint. I also get anxiety attacks so, I want to avoid panicky situations as much as possible. So, yes, I'm afraid!

hello jhr,
I feel the same way when i was a kid,i feel scared seeing needles.
But i was able to overcome as i grew up.
I never give any bad or scary impressions about doctors/nurses and hospitals to my kids.
So,when i need to take them to dentists and for check ups, they never feel scared off.
I never had any trouble taking my kids to hospitals or giving them medicines when they were small.
Now that they're young teeners, they can go to their dentists alone, and got a lot of stories when they come home (funny stories and overrated ones hahaha)
I had three C-operation (with my 3 kids)
I feel nervous with the first, but on the second time feel more relaxed.
On the third time got to exchange jokes before they give me the last shot to doze off.
You couldn't imagine the big needles used to inject the anesthesia at the spinal column (much much bigger than the ordinary needles used for shots...normal shots of injection)
Have a great weekend

I was never afraid of going to the dentist, my mother really made sure we looked after our teeth so we never had any problems with the dentist, and he used to give away free stickers when you went to him so I used to like going there for the stickers!
I dont like seeing operations on TV, but thats because I dont like the site of lots fo blood, and I think I would be afraid if I needed to have an operation myself, but I dont know anyone who likes having operations so I think thats normal. Im not that bothered about needles though, I have never been able to look at the needle but I dont get afraid if I have to have them. My doctor used to give us sweets after having injections so there was always something good after having them!

Well I am not afraid anymore to go. I do get nervous going to the dentist because of all the digging around they have to do and it is no fun at all!! The doctor on the other hand I was scared when I was little but now I am not I love the doctor I go to and I am going to hate it if he ever leaves!! He is the sweetest doctor I ever had!! I love that little Chinese man!!I will be so sad the day he has to retire!
