I need to lose weight...

There seems to always have a good reason to suspend my diet. But I know I need to stop eating with my lack of activity. I was once a skinny type. But now that I have fats, I find difficulty getting back to my usual weight. My arms and my legs doesn't appear large. But the fats can be clearly seen on my tummy and buttocks.
How can I gain that determination to resist eating? I need to start this battle against fat immediately.

Crunching exercise and sit-ups are suggested by many. But if you are like me, I don't really like exhausting exercises. What I do is that after eating, I stand up and bring the plates to the sink and washes them immediately. This gives me reason not to sit in front of the tv. Often times, I ask my mom or sister to accompany me for a walk after dinner. I ask them to go to a grocery on an easy walk. It's like getting fresh air and strolling right after eating. I have my lunch in the office. So after lunch, I have to sit again on my table and that usually is one cause of big tummy. What I do, if I have to sit down after meal, I sit only half of my butt on the chair, keep a straight body or back and I don't loosen my belt.
I learned that big tummy develops by eating rice or too much carbohydrates. Eat complex carbohydrates as a replacement, i.e. pasta, or mashed potato. Stop eating red meat and if possible eat lots of fibers.
Hope this helped.

Losing weights is a really easy thing to do.If you go to the gym, though you want be able to lose way that easily. The best way is to change your diet, you shouldn'ta have burgers and pizzas, and play a sport that you won't get how the time has passed.I play tennis and i dont get how 2 hours have passed by, and 900 calories as well.Don't any books,or other stuff saying lose weight for 1 week, that's bad for your health.

I agree with you. I will keep that in mind and try to lessen my intake of fatty rich foods. It would be a little hard because I usually crave for junk foods and I usually buy lunch from fast foods.
Thanks for sharing.

I think the trick is not that one should stop eating but the important thing is what are you eating. Have a healthy diet and more importantly fix your routine. Go for green vegetables and fruits. I am sure you will get back to shape soon.

We have the same problem. I also used to be thin. I could eat and eat and I won't get fat. I guess my metabolism has slowed a lot now that I am getting a bit older. Maybe it is also because my new job is less stressful and involves more seating in the office in my desk. I guess we should start eating less each day, but nothing too sudden.

Hi. snowhybiscuis.
You have started a good discussion, It has been done before but the matter need to be meet constantly :)
I was told by my doctor that I am obese. with diabetes that is not good. Tried to reduce weight and consume less food. It didn't work properly. The dietitian recommended a lot of changes to my diet. It is tough, be it must bee done to ensure that my health is taken care of.
To me all it takes is determination and support from your partner and family member, and not to forget your friends. They must be told of your determination and what they need to do is to help you stick to your diet. My friend used to drag me out for lunch and other meals. But now I ask the not to do that and help to stop me if I were to take in food like I used to.
All It take is some determination and support. I lost 2 kg last 3 month. It is not much but it's a start and I think I am winning the battle in putting off weight and keeping it off.

I just had a baby 4 months ago and needed to loose weight as well.
I started doing a no carbs detox, but because it worked so well i just stuck to it. It was hard at first but after a while you get use to not eating carbs.
In doing this i have gone from 160 pounds down to 125 pounds in about 3 months by doing this and regular exercise. Now all i need to do is loose another 17 pounds before i am my pre baby weight.
You can do it.
It will just take a little work.

Thanks Sarah91. I anticipate that it would be very hard for me too. You see, rice is our staple food. I am not used to eating bread. But I can eat Salad for lunch or dinner once in a while. However, with my work, I used to eat fast foods or delivered packed lunch. I would really need a very strong determination to improve my body weight.
See you around.

Hi,i think for most of us, with our ages increase, the weight problems will appear. To get more weight has something with one's parents, that is heredity. As one funny sentence i have heard: to know what will your wife look like in the future, just have a look at your mother-in-law.
Gaining more weight also because of lack of exercise or eating too much fat.And since generally speaking, thin people tend to be healthy than fat people, especially for elders. So i think you should try to do some exercises. Or if you found it is very hard to make time to do it,then the first thing you should do is to try to refrain from eating food with too much fat.

You are very right. I noticed that I started gaining weight now that I'm on early 30's. Before, I used to eat too much but never gained much weight. Now, I look at the mirror and I see curves. LOL.
Also, you are very right about time. With my eight hour work, I can't move much but just sit on my desk and do the paper works.
I confess too that I cheat on the junk foods. I will just have to curb my appetite and get back to playing badminton.

Hi snow,
What have not people been doing just to bring themselves into the shape. The young girls who are just school goers though out the tiff in on the dustbin.
What for? The answer is to bring yourself down to the so called healthy state of your physic. But that is not the way. Eating less day by day would not help the issue.
Being too fat or too skinny - both are bad and neither of them can be called healthy.
Having more food or less depends on your general health. When you starve yourself, your body remembers that. When you finally start eating normally, your body is going to store the food as fat in anticipation and as a safe guard in case you are starved again.
Starving yourself would only work to keep you skinny if you starved yourself for the rest of your life, which would be a short one.
The best way to loose weight is choosing healthy foods and exercising more. You can even cheat sometimes and have extra food, or eat something junky, as long as you make up for it in exercise.
Best of luck to you! Stay positive and strong!

Thanks krajibg. I will keep that in mind. Now that I can walk again, I will try my best to resume my usual physically active day-by-day habits. I usually walk going to my rides for work. I just stopped doing it when I got an injury. But now that I'm well, I hope to get much exercise.
See you around mylot!

There are lots of ways in which a person can effectively lose some weight. Rather a few people choose to lose weight by getting caught up in a diet of some type. Other people decide to just limit the amount of food that they intake on a daily basis. Some other people prefer to lose weight by increasing their physical activity and exercise. While other people choose to lose weight by only eating certain kinds of foods. Really, there many different ways in which a person can lose weight. Physical exercise is absolutely, in my own opinion, the very best and most effective method for losing excess body weight. Though, as I always do, I must suggest that anyone who is considering starting any kind of physical exercise first consults with a medical doctor.

Thanks pogi253. I would really need to consult my physician before getting to any workout because I just had a fracture and hopefully I will get my clearance by January 22.
I hope I haven't gotten fat too much that would have caused something bad for my heart though.
Thanks for your input and see you around mylot!
