I had watched a program the other day. It was on extreme users of coupons. I watched as person after person saved hundreds of dollars. Now I use coupons. But it doesn't consume my life. These people (IN MY OPINION) go overboard. No one needs 40 jars of Ragu! I mean really. I have saved $ 5-10 in a shopping trip. How about you?

We've been talking about this on this discussion if you'd like to hear... http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2467162.aspx Coupons aren't what they used to be. Used to be $1.00 off a single item. Now is it 25cents off 3 items! And often, it is still cheaper for another brand than the one with the coupon! Used to have double coupons all the time, now that is very scarious. But I still work at it. Not a lot of work. I find them online mostly cause I stopped buying the papers cause they have lots of coupons, but none of the coupons are for things I buy! And no, it is hardly worth bothering if you have half a dozen 10cents off coupons. More bother than it is worth. I sued to do great with them, $20-$30 a week in coupons, but these past years...it has dwindled and the freebies/samples are the same way. Only thing you have to do if you do things like buy in abundance is to make sure you rotate your "stock". No sense saving money when you buy, if it expires and you have to toss it.

I was pleasantly surprised when I printed my weekly batch of coupons from Coupons.com yesterday. There were a lot of $1 and $2 off coupons in there, and even a few $3 off. I think I saw a $7 off, too. Of course none of them are for products I use. Well, there were a bunch of OTC medication coupons in there, but I don't use them. I just print them because someone here suggested doing it through other sites to make money. Freecyclers in the area are more than happy to take them off my hands and use them.

I use MyPoints to get those coupons. Yeah, there are alot but not many for things I use! Lot for pet food, I don't have a pet. Lot for things like "Swiffer Sweep/Mop" and I don't use that. (tried it, and frankly a good mop does better!) Some good OTC stuff, but I don't use lot of that either. I just go through them and pick what I want. I do see tho that the "new" way is..."cents of this item when you buy that other item"....like cents off a gallon of milk if you buy (for regular price) a box of cereal. Granted, get a coupon for that box of cereal and you can save a little more, but most likely you need milk anyway and dry cereal keeps, but still...they are making it really hard these days!

They are. It seems like all of the food coupons that are out there are for low amounts. I've got a ton of coupons for things like "55 cents off two" or "save $1 on five." I take them with me when I shop, but I always end up leaving them on the shelf for someone else to use. It's cheaper to buy the generic store brand variety of the item than it is to use the coupon on the name brand.

It depends on what coupon. The best coupons I ever use are the ones from fast food establishments, like McDonald's. Like the ones where you get a free sundae. It's not much, but hey, it's still a sundae.

coupons - I use coupons and I like them because it helps save some money.
Recently I have done a lot of on line shopping and some of the sellers offer coupons, with which we can buy stuff we like at a lower price. I make good use of them when I buy things. It is worth it as it saves some money. Take care, ersmommy.

I do use coupons and rebate sites, but it does not consume my life either. I look for good deals when we are getting ready to go grocery shopping. We will load up on buy 1 get 1 free items and so far during the year 2010 at Giant Eagle with their discount program, coupons and store brands we saved 250 dollars and were able to get three free tanks of gas there.

Whenever I receive a coupon, I'm saving it for later use. I know that a coupon has an expiration period. Since I'm keeping it, I usually forget that I have some. I will just know if I find something in my cabinet. Those small discounts can also be a good savings.

Hello, I sometimes use shopping coupons or vouchers when I get them and especially when I actually remember tto take them to the store with me. Absolutely nothing wrong at all with using them, especially nowadays with prices gettibg higher and higher and incomes getting squeezed. But alot of people really need to check what they are using the vouchers for, what's the point in buying something you dont normally use or want just because you hhave a voucher to save alittle off the price. Remember thats what the real job of the coupons/vouchers is, basically to entice you to buy something different. Just my humble opinion, have fun and happy shopping.

Hello ersmommy1, I watched a couple of those shows last week as well and can't believe how well they did. I would love to shop like they did. I would definitly use coupons if I knew where to get more of them. I do get a few online but only a very few. I get a few in the mail as well but mostly for products I don't buy, of course. So if anyone can help me and tell me some sites where I can print more of them I would appreciate it.

I am so unused to using coupons that even when I try to use them, I forget about them. I have an envelope of coupons in my purse that I clip from the Sunday paper.. and I always forget to look at them while I'm shopping to see if I have one for something I'm buying.. and when I do look, I forget to give them to the cashier.

I sure do I use coupons to save money and it really does help because the money that you save that starts to add up after a while and I love to save money all the time when ever I can. Coupons are here to help us, but one really must be careful because some coupons do have their catch so watch out for them. When my daddy goes to the supermarket he always gets his coupons ready thanks to the cashier my dad knows were exactly to get all the coupons he needs.

Hello hun, i have never used coupons, because in my country you have to work in some company, which offer hard physical work with good earnings and a part of the earnings is given as coupons. So there is no that kind of job for me. But the second husband of my mom is working as welder and he receive coupons for something like 50$ every month. The food in our country is not cheap and people always has too many bills to pay, so it's hard for most of the people to put away some money for food. I think that coupons are very useful - first of all you will never stay hungry. It's not like you have received the money and decided to pay a bill with them, you got only one way to use them and you will never stay hungry that way. Here coupons are for special stores, not for everywhere, usually the big stores has their coupons and their system for using. My mom and her husband go to shop in the big store and buy usually meat, cheese, sunflower, beans - useful and long time without special warranty period.

Although some people may think that these are old fashion, but coupons are free money! Why not use them? But be cautious, sometimes it may drive you to shop more. Just remember to use coupons to buy the things you need only. Sales is another great alternative to save money as well. Plan your shopping and you could save hundreds of dollars a year.

I use coupons if it is on a product I normally buy. Normally if I use coupons I save 20-40 dollars in a shopping trip. There are so many coupons offered online and I also get coupons in the mail. I do not let it consume my life but if I see a coupon on a product I am going to have to purchase why not save. Even if I saved cents or just a dollar it is something and it adds up. You may think that those people go overboard but hundreds of dollars....... thats a lot! I wish I could save hundreds of dollars.
