In what order do you answer discussions?

I usually answer my notifications first..they do keep me very busy. I love them. Then I go to every homepage of the people that have responded and ansewer any discussion that I feel like I can add to. I think it is an act of respect to respond to those that have taken the time to have added to my discussions. After that, I answer within my interests. I usually don't get to those..but if I do..that's where I go..lol...So what about you? Do you stay within your interests? Is it friends? Is it people that respond? How do you choose?

Heyya Hatley! I don't usually start a lot of discussions at a time. I like to be active and it seems I am moreso keeping up with my friends and responders..lol...I suppose I have developed a bit of routine to keep me in the swing of things..lol..I will be sending you a friend request to keep up with you..[em]wink[/ema

I go to my notifications first. I answer all I can, but there are some I cannot. I very seldom start a discussion, so I do not have those to comment on the way you do. I then will go to the friends started tab, the today's top tab and the hot tab. If I still want to be active I will go to the news articles and then the blogs to comment on.

There have been some discussions that I have not been able to answer too. Not because I didn't want to but more because there was just nothing that I could add or didn't know a thing about it..lol. I have yet to be active in the blog area. I once tried to find out how that blog posting here worked but no one really knew. Have you done a blog here?

No, I have not gotten it together enough to have an active blog. That should be on my "to do" list for this year. I thought I read somewhere that you have to have had a blog for six months before you can link it here. I just learned that you could earn from looking at them here, so I read a few at Christmas time. I cannot comment on cricket and international soccer very well.

I wasn't really aware that I, too, had a pattern on answering discussions here until I read this one.
So, as for me, I usually check on discussions I have started first, there's not much there though and there aren't so much responses either.HEHE! The next stop would be discussions I have responded to, I'm checking on follow-ups on my responses, and then I go to my interests, then friend's discussion and then so on.

I also start on my notifications. I start my day by looking at my goal for the day list. I go check Factoidz and see what I have earned on my articles this month so far. I look at my list of potential subjects of interest for articles and may start my research on a given subject.(I just finished an article on Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton who was the last of the Moonshiners there in Tennessee.) I tend to go from one site to another. I stay on Yahoo with my notifications then go to Facebook, then write for awhile, then go to several other sites I frequent. Then I start over again. I demand of myself that I get all or most of notifications done daily. And I atleast select some links to check for my next article. I may have three or four articles in the works at one time.

That Popocorn Sutton was an interesting character. There was a big tribute to him in Knoxville not to long ago and they have figured out a way to put a moonshine still in Gatlinburg...legally...lol. We went and seen it.
I'd like to check out that factoidz. I haven't been very active with my Helium in almost a year.

Yes, Smitty had mentioned him on his profile when he passed and got me interested in him. I put the bit in my article about them figured out a way to distill his moonshine now. I would love to see that area(Maggie Valley, Cherokee to mention afew) someday but doubt I ever will be able to. I hadn't been on Helium in over a year and went on afew nights ago for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised and plan on trying my luck there again.

I'm still 'just starting' (lol), but I think I'm gonna be pretty-much 'discussion-centered.'
I'll start with my notifications (responding to friends' discussions- & responder's replies-as much as I can ... probably posting a new discussion somewhere in there).
Then, if I get through all those, I'll reply to hot discussions, unresolved discussions ... I dunno, just fun!

The first thing I do is answer the comments and then I answer as many of my friend's posts I can And then I try to answer posts from people requesting to be my friend and then any posts under my interests.

Hi :)
It really just varies to be honest. I guess it all depends on my mood. What I do the most though is just go through my interests or start my own discussions. I haven't been on here in awhile but need to get back into a groove. I need a certain amount of money soon so I'm hoping that I can get most of it from here on mylot!
Hope all is well with you!

I scroll through my discussions and see if I can respond to sent that way, these are friends and I try to support them first, then I hit the responses and I at least rate them, I will comment if I have time, I then start a discussion or two if I thave thought of any.

Hi jen,
Well, my way of commenting on discussion or responding to a discussion is not scheduled. I go at random. To pick up discussion I am not a choosy one. Not that I always do only those posted by my friend. This is because some friends are who often occupy the entire space with topic of different interest.
I try to answer back all the responses if possible. If something is left that is due to my own fault.
Unlike you I do not every time visit the profile of the responders.

If they are already my friends..I just respond to their notifications but if they are not, that is when I visit their page to check out their discussions started. That way I can respond to them too.
I like to be very active within my discussions too. It is what makes them discussions in my opinion.
Thanks for responding.

Besides by looking at the quality of other discussion you could decide if you would really love to respond to.

Hi Jenn, well that is the way we react to certain discussion I think. Personally I'll response according to my interests before anything else. Oh...always mind my own business

I do not feel obligated to answer every topic that comes up. If I really have nothing to add, why just clutter up the discussion? I look in my interests first. Once i have answered, i go to ones i have started. I am currently behind on that, but hope to get caught up this weekend when i have some time. i look through that what is hot area. If i have some extra time, i will then look at my friend's responses and started.

I don't feel obligated either and if I can't add anything...I don't respond either. My friends usually come up with some wonderful discussions and there have been very few times that I have had to move on because I couldn't add anything. That's one of the things I enjoy about this site. Thanks for the response.

Personally for me, it depends on the amount of time I have to be active in here, and what type of mood I am in as well. I know that if I have recently started a New discussion taking time to respond back to everyone there who responded is important as that is what helps keep that topic going. So I make sure I have more time to be here when starting New discussions for sure. Actually I usually stick with a lot of my Interests or discussions my friends have started and then go from there when choosing to respond back.

I think that activity within our discussions is important too. I comfortably start maybe one or two discussions a week. That way I can easily keep that one actuve plus participate in others. I guess we all have to find our happy medium.
Time can greatly influence our routines too..I agree. Thanks for the response and I hope you have doing well.

I usually do comments and responses first, then I do new discussions oldest to newest. But I"m so far behind that I"m doing newest to oldest....

At the moment I have 183 notifications sitting in my inbox and I am working my way through them oldest to newest. I always do those first, then I check ‘today’s top’ or my interests and have a bit of a wander around the site or start my own discussion, I guess it depends on the day! I am very behind at present because we’ve been away and to my dismay my mobile broadband did not work where we were and all I had was a really slow dial up connection and one post would take about ten minutes so I gave up and the notifications have piled up! I’m back home and with a bit of luck I may start working my way through everything.

I usually go through my notifications and then to those who replied to my past discussions. Then, I go through my friends lists and if I have time, I'll get to the interests. If I have more time, I'll go to the discussions tab to look for interesting ones I can answer.

Hi Jen. I go to my email inbox (which is a different one to my personal one) and go through the email notifications from MyLot there. I rarely get a chance to look at discussions any other way these days as that keeps me busy enough.
I still have over 200 emails that are unread that are all from MyLot friends discussions. This is why I am 3 weeks late getting to this discussion! If I ever get around to catching up with them, then I will start opening the daily digest emails or going through the site itself looking at some of my favourite interests. It has been a long time since I have had the time to do that though!

When I am ready for myLot the first thing I do is go to my email alerts. I do not block any and with the number of friends I get more then I can handle. However, I go through each one and clean out my inbox by responding to all the quality ones and deleting violations and or anything I truly cannot contribute to.
Then I will go to the board and see in the new responses if there are any in there that I can contribute to as well. My last step is to go to the no responses as so many members start so many discussions in one sitting that many quality discussions get drowned down below and not seen, thus then making them no responses.
If I have something to contribute of my own may start one but usually not for weeks at a time, as I am a busy bee with all the friends discussions. LOL.

@jastewart, absolutely I can't begin to tell you that when I have responded to a no response discussion that perhaps was started 10 - 20 hours before, the member is so grateful and almost wanted to give up on myLot. I have seen it too often that the members who start so many in one sitting, causes so many great ones to be pushed down into that tab.
That one response now pushed the discussion up to recent responses, causing the discussion to now be a thread of page fulls. Glad I can help.
