Does this annoy the heck out of you? What do you do about it?

Alright, I haven't been around as long as many of you vetran mylotters, but I'm starting to notice an unwelcome pattern. Almost every discussion that is a well-thought out question or statement that *should* provoke thoughtful responses, I see things like this: "Can't help you, sorry." or "Don't know about this, sorry." Or on a question in the "earn money" or "PTC sites" interest I will start a conversation with a question about PTCs, only to have 25% of the responses be "I don't click PTCs, sorry!" or "I would never click a PTC, they're all a waste of time in my opinion." (only appropriate if I had asked what you opinion on clicking PTCs in general was, not if I asked a specific one about PTCs or the running thereof that requires knowledge of a PTC clicker. For the first time I reported one of these people because I saw those responses from them, everywhere, all over the place. Was that the right thing to do?

Some of those responses might be from friends of the person who started the discussion informing their friend of their own ignorance. I know what you are saying, and it would be nice for people that didn't have anything relevant to say to not waste their time. At least the 25% isn't 80%-90%.

Well, it's different if you're ignorant but you want to know. Then the answer might be "Hey, I never knew this even existed, but it sounds interesting, how does it work? I'm glad I found this conversation because I just might have a new interest! Thanks!" Answers like the ones I see are so obviously just an attempt to get a penny. It's like that guy in the office or at school who just has to make everything about him, so any conversation he doesn't know about he turns into a conversation about how stupid it is.

May I have a penny please? LOL It sounds like you personally know my biological father. Mr. Blablabla oh did you say something I couldn't hear you because I was thinking about myself while I was talking about myself, muahaha. Me me me. Sometimes I wonder how he doesn't stand in front of the mirror and carry on conversations with himself. I am 30 years old and he still acts this way. Look at my new phone with this new recording of myself, seriously? No one should be this concerned with themself.

Oh that is priceless. And yes, if you are very, very good, you may have a penny. XD

Yes, that's annoying and very much against TOS. If i see a response that doesn't contribute to the discussion or answer the question I give that poster a negative rating. That is the best way to bring it to someone's attention as far as I know. People are supposed to be giving thought out answers, you are right.

Yes, I wanted to make sure that it was appropriate to do something about it. I don't go out of my way to make life hard for people but why waste my time telling me you don't know about something, unless you have a desire to learn?

That is how I feel as well. To me those are just people trying to 'game the system' and earn money without helping. Myspace is a place where people come to get information.

in a sense, yes... i dislike it when i see a one line response or one line discussion here... or people who give a response without reading the whole discussion and give an answer that is totally unrelated to the topic of the discussion... those type of people are the people who are here solely for the money reason only and nothing else which is sad because they are missing out a lot on this site... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, that is what I think. Just trying to make some money. Thanks for your response!

Hi. I think those responses violate mylot rules , that is, if my interpretation of the rules is correct,so you have the right to report them. It s annoying that someone would respond to a discussion of which he has no clear idea what to talk about. It shows that that person is only after his earning here in Mylot, thus, responding to a topic with such annoying line that doesn't even post a bit of relevance to the discussed subject.

Of course I think they will also learn their lesson when they find they are not actually earning from their "contributions"

I have only seen a few responses like that, fortunately. But yes, it is quite annoying that they don't answer seriously... they are not even supposed t answer, but they still do. Just ignore them.

I was for a long time, then I noticed this same person doing it over and over, everywhere. It's like when your neighbour's dog leaves little "gifts" not just on your lawn but everyone's lawns, so every time you take a walk it spoils your view! LOLOL!

I often see those responses also. It is against myLot discussions right? I will always follow myLot's guidelines. I'm only having notification if a discussion I responded to was deleted. That is why my lose ratings.

Yes, it always makes me sad when I make a good comment to a discussion that later gets deleted. But it has made me pickier about which conversations I respond to and now it happens less and less.

Hi rebecca, I agree with you 100 %. It sometimes annoys me to see how members contribute just for the sake of it. If one does not have any useful to contribute or does not know about the subject I feel it is better to skip the discussion.

Yes, I do not comment to topics that I don't know about, or jump in with an off-topic comment, just to make some money. I might read the whole discussion if it sounds interesting, and leave a few comments for some members asking questions, or if it seems like I wouldn't be interested I just leave it. Their are thousands of other discussions after all!
