Being a teacher to these small children, there isn't a thing much more heart breaking than watching your pupils struggle in the classroom. It is normal for a class consists of a mixed ability pupils. I really need to give my time equally to cater to the different ability of student in a 30 minutes class or an hour class. They are all hungry for knowledge but just that some are really having problem in understand or follow the speed of the normal and genius pupils. How do you tackle this situation?

This is a very complicated subject. It deals with child psychology and environmental stimulus. Now due to several reasons no two persons perceive the same thing in the same way. There are students who are extremely awake at auditory stimuli and there are children who are hyper-sensitive to visual ones. Then there are students with extraordinary IQ levels and there are students who are just ordinary. You can't satisfy both in the same way. So you need to choose something optimum for both of them. By doing this the overall progress of the class may seem to slow down. But then the progress will be a more inclusive one. This will need sacrifice on the part of those 'excellent' students, but a little bit of cooperation on their part is actually a good thing. You should continue this method, often switching back and forth between these two difficulty levels to suit the need of every individual. You will soon find out that the smarter students will offer help to the weaker ones. Soon they will catch up with their pace. This process is tedious at the beginning but productive in the end.

I was a teacher and sometimes i have to deal with this kind of situation. I think you can ask him whether he understands or not after class, or before class starts, have chit chat with him, if he asks about the lesson he doesn`t understand, explain it.Sometimes those kinds of kids are too shy to ask in front of the class. Ask bout how he`s feeling, in case there is something he doesn`t understand. Then explain it again. what do you teach?you teach in course or school?

Those students need more encouragement and positivity. I didn't mention what is the school level of your students. But you know they are mature enough, you can try asking the smarter pupils to share their knowledge to others. That was what my fifth grade English teacher told me. I was the top of our class. That is why she told me that. But as I understand what she was saying, I felt pity on my other classmates.
If your struggling students are irresponsible or not doing their assignments, projects, and what a student should do, you should talk to their parents secretly. If they knew, your students might become more discourage as they were before.

i really appreciate the fact that u r so concerned about ur students.i beleive every child is different and they all have different problems.i can just suggest u one thing,in ur free time have short chat with those weak students individually and discuss their problems. And after u know what their weaknesses are, you'll probably have an idea about what to do

Dear friend,
May be learning is a talent, as some is capable and some may not. Here slow learners are at least they are learning, only thing is that they need the time. I feel give them the time to learn. Also find some time to teach them. May be they do not have that talent, may be God would have given some other talent. Anyhow let them take their own time, studying is made compulsory to handle things and for better life. But there are many successful people who are not big genius or scholars. I wish not to hurt those slow learners.

Good Day!
WELL, for me its a bit hard to deal with those slow learners. No matter how many times you repeat the topic he/she don't still get it. Its hard! But try and try. that slow learner must focus and concentrate and be determined to learn fast so that he/she wouldn't be a slow learner anymore. I admit its hard to deal with those kind of persons :)

I think this is where your training as a teacher kicks in.
For the students that you consider as fast learners, I think you get a break from them as you don't have to spend too much time teaching. And that time saved up with the fast learners, you could then devote to the ones that need your attention more.

Just my two cents, but when teaching I believe you should always have multiple ways of explaining/teaching things. Some kids may seem slower, but just not understand one way of looking at it. You also have kids who learn better by hearing/reading/doing so being able to encorporate multiple learning styles helps a great deal. A way of giving more time to those that do learn at a slower pace is to have activities (games, crafts, etc...) and split the kids into groups that way you can focus on helping them, but also have the other kids interacting with them. You'd be suprised at how much they can simplify something for eachother.

You gotta have a lot of patience being a mentor of your students, try to make a some interesting stuff where they like it, you have to guide and help them more the best thing to do is challenge them try to make an example, like a person or it could be anything that will helps, most of my aunt's are teachers and i can see what they are doing to the students who has a low level of learning, best thing to do is motivate.
