I agree with you totally on this,I am quite new to this also I been a member on Mylot for 4 years and I can see what you are saying but unfortunatly It is a ongoing Issue thst Is hard to resolve.

Plus, correct me if I am wrong, but if someone rates another negative, doesn't it also affect their own rating? I think this might be why though I don't have a real low rating, I will rate someone negative if they are negative. (Hence the negative rate) Either that or someone rates me negative and the only one I can picture doing that is this city boy, but I won't go there..lol

Honestly, I don't care about them because I don't know what's the effect if I'll rate a post of somebody. There were instances when I rate a negative - usually when I'm getting pissed with the person who can't respect others' point-of-view. Now I'm wondering. What would be the effect? I'm asking because I can honestly say that I have no idea.

I put a - when a user is flaming or completely out of topic, and I have some months without a negative rating. As I report also the box or the discussion, I will not lodge a complaint if the rating system disappears tomorrow. The DRS has many bad effects and some are not seen immediately : when you inform kindly a newcomer that his/her discussion violates the guidelines and you don't report it, you lose your cent when the discussion is deleted, and maybe another cent when the global adjustment is made, so many old members don't stop anymore in these discussions... I am kind but not at the point to pity like you do the negative raters . It is often a troll's game, and there is two way to get rid of the trolls here : to suppress the negative box or to make the system transparent. I would enjoy a clear and transparent history of tags at myLot, wikipedia-like, but it would probably not be a good thing to make the rating system transparent because it would create enmities and nervous tension here. So let's suppress the star rating, nobody will regret it. What I am lacking now is a smiley with a pike and a phrygian cap .

Yeah, you're right negative raters are time wasters, & you're right about myLot being a friendly site too.. Like any other networking sites, here in myLot's the only site that makes me cautious on what I'm saying on others. It makes me more responsible on what my words would be speaking & making me more friendlier than I used to be because they created guidelines & rules that is helpful & user friendly. For others who does negative rating, I just wished that all their bad habits will be done back to them.. "karma"

hi letran I hate it that there are stilltrools who seem to only be here to take down 9 and 10 stars. I know they can be caught but'yhou have to contact my lot admins and hit other so uou can explain how your rating suddenly dropped big time then they put a watch on to see who is doing all gthe minusing and they will catch them and those trolls will be banned from here. I do not minus anyone as if the disucssion is reallyh mean and insulting other users I just report it and let mylot admins decide what to do. I rarely do this either.mostly I plus so we can all move up. a lot of people here are simp;ly not rating and they should be as it will help us all.

Letran- I know that Mylot administration is working to keep this from occuring, but you're right it still does happen. I am not sure why these people still are here other than they still receive the attention they crave. Someone starts a thread like this one and the trolls come and gloat at their victory for upsetting yet more people. I know, I'm replying so what does that say? We know that it is a Mylot violation to continue to rank another negatively without just cause. We know that there are "gangs" on Mylot who do nothing but troll and at times in a group negatively rank/rate others simply because they know that the numbers game will allow them to quickly decrease the rank of another. We know that a low star means less monies earned (it is in the Mylot FAQ's). We know that Mylot administration will quickly end that when they find out as they can trace the threads and find out who is doing the negative ranking and take care of them appropriately. So, in the end we can only go to administration if we experience this troll behavior and move forward. Namaste-Anora

Hello Letran, Hiding behind multiple accounts, not really having an identity over here, or like you said, some actually might be more famous ones around here too. I too don't use the negative ratings, just because i don't want to use it, on anyone. I only give pluses or nothing at all. It's a shame when they hide behind multiple accounts because they care about their ratings, maybe they don't have the guts to show themselves. I just hope there are fewer people who do such stuffs, coz this is really bad for mylot. Maybe they should track such people whose sole purpose is to rate a '-' to others. I believe mylot guys can actually quarantine such accounts who just log in and rate '-'. They should start working on it.

Hi sweetie. There are a lot of us who only pray and wish that those negative raters will come and face us. Ninnies who didn't have toys when they were children. Hopefully one day we will be so lucky as to really get to meet them. TATA.

If we like the discussion, we can give them positive rating, upto that good for looking. But some(few evil minded people) are rating negatively without any reason or with jealousy. Many of my great friends of mylot are effected by these negative rating giving persons. Really it is unforturnate. WE all are good friends here, we have to try to improve the quality of the discussions, and gives a good result to mylot management.

Well those people just put me down last time I supposed to be higher rating in this site but those are nothing to do with themself and rate mylotters negative, mylot should removed this rating and just rate it by seniority not by mylotters who are nothing to do on themself.

Hi LateranKnight25, We should be thankful that myLot is not popular like Facebook and Twitter. Those two are websites where you can only waste your time and nothing else. I had accounts on both of those websites, I deleted my accounts because those were just wasting my time. Even if myLot becomes popular, the number of active members will not be that much like facebook and twitter because there are so many people around the world who like meaningless things rather than being patient and doing some meaningful work. As far as negative raters are concerned, they should be banned, rating negative is not a bad thing but on what basis you are rating someone, that decides whether it is good or bad. As you have mentioned, there are people with multiple accounts and they tend to rate you negative, I 100% agree with you, I had this feeling a few months back and I was guessing a few people in my friend list might be doing that to me. Since I have deleted those people from my friend list, my rating seems to be stable. Let's hope mylot will take some action against this issue and these people can be banned in myLot.

I really don't mind those negative raters , because i myself do not rate negatively. I would just simply ignore them if i think they are trying to put down opinions. But i rate those i found to be the best response to my discussion though.

do not waste your time to those kind of members or to those kind of people.they will not be rich if they continuously to rate other members negatively.let us just focus on posting quality discussions.let us just continue participating to quality post in the site.we all know the word "karma" and i'm sure all of them will be out of the site.we should not worry about those people.they are non sense people.

I rate all discussions with a positive even if they have a different opinion than me. As for trolls? Who are they? I never give them a second thought, I like to mind my own business, as should others. I believe everyone has something positive to contribute. One...should not pull/bring other people down...EVER!!! Expect good things and you will get good things from these people, expect great things and you will gt great things...and just because I have that belief, no one should rate me negative...it's just my opinion, or my 2 cents!!

The thing with the rating system, is that it is abused all the time. It is to bad too, as it would be a better system if those users would stop rating others negative, just because they don't agree with them. I thought mylot is a community where we can express our opinions, and not be ridiculed for them, but there are those that will put us down because we don't agree with them, and you right, it is totally wrong. It does need to stop, but until the so called trolls are banned or controlled in here, then we will continue to have problems with them. It really makes it hard to have fun when that happens. It does sem that they might be tryi8ng to make others leave and not come back. In other words they are intimidating them to leave. I, for one, won't be forced to leave here as I enjoy myself in here and I hope to continue to have fun in spite of the bad apples in here who make it rough for everyone else. We all need to stock together, and put them in their place, and maybe someday, they will grow up and leave others alone. We can only hope anyway. Take care, and happy mylotting.

It is a never ending lost cause. I have seen great contributors to myLot come and go because of tis issue. Shame that really diligent contributors get spooked this way. You know me I have been affected one too many times. I am simply doing my thing and comfortable with my stay here. However, it is a bit petty to see the trolls in action. I sure they feel comfortable with what they do. Jealousy and vindictive actions are such a negative impact on the community itself.
