it is just appalling to see the effects of global warming. one tv anchor here before said or even predicted about 2 decades ago that because of shifting earth movement that we may have snow in our tropical country, philippines in the future. but there is no snow yet here. but in hawaii had it already. i don't know how much snow fall they had in hawaii. but regardless the amount of snow fall, it is still one rare incident. and it may be a cause of worry also . as we all know now about global warming. so do you think there will be a big change in weather in the world.

but i don't know what we can do about it. even the world's leaders are still not able to come up with concrete actions about this problem.

where do you live hotsummer? im from the philippines.. actually there is, we just have to plant trees, lots and lots of trees to compensate with the effects of the pollution and for the trash, its soooo difficult coz people complain about floods yet they throw their trash anywhere, i dont want it burned either, what we practice back in the province is bury but here in the city, we segregate then the garbage collectors collect it every night..
yes, you and i and other people are doing the right things but there are more people who dont care about it.. its just so sad.. there are so many factors to be considered but everything, every form of discipline starts from within..

It's weird where I am. WE've been having fall for most of the winter when the people above and below us have been having winter. Now we have cold an only a dusting of snow. Single digits and below zero are here. Messes with the ground (think frost heaves) and pipes (think bursting). When we used to have snow, the ground did not heave as much and fewer people had broken water pipes. I used to snow shoe for fun and to get rid of tent catepiller cacoons from trees. With no snow, I can't see or reach them. I used to just scrape the scabs off the trees, now we'll have a horrible infestation again unless things change. I'm hoping we have a decent spring for the Maple Sugar Farmers. That hasn't been working out as well some years either.

What's wild was snow in 49 states all at one time. That has to be some kind of record, don't you think?

Yeah pretty weird weather has been happening in the world lately. We have heard that flooding in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Flooding in Australia, and the nonstop rains in several provinces here in the Philippines. This are all odd weather phenomenon that is happening in our globe. Let us all pray that we can all be safe with all this disasters that is happening around the globe.
I think weather pattern is slowly evolving and up to what extent it has changed is hard to predict but I hope it would not be that drastic that we have to adapt abruptly.

Hi. hotsummer. I don't know all about the global warnings, but having snow in Hawaii is something different. You would think that this is a tropical climate area, but now it may getting snow. The weather is definitely shifting constantly. In many states and countries the weather is changing. So, it would not be a surprise if the weather changes ironically.

Is this once in a blue moon or global warming. Snowing in Hawaii, don't you think it is cool?

it is cool to have snow sometimes, but what causes is or what implications it may have on the earth is what is not cool about it.

That is quite shocking to hear- yes, there isn't any snow here in Philippines and it would be a bad thing if there was since many people here aren't ready for it. The seas and lakes and dams, the levels are getting higher because of this global warming- if this won't stop, our country might be flooded so much.

Yes, the weather and our planet is crazier and crazier in recently years. Floods, draughts, earthquakes, eruption of volcanos... ...etc. So much natural disasters. Here we are now suffering the extreme cold of the winter. And in the south of china, there are too much snows. And lots of crops are destoried. Because of the bad weather, the prices of the food are keeping on rising. Of course, because the rising prices of food, almost all things are more expensive this year than before. We ordinary people's life is harder and harder.

Hi hotsummer, Weather patterns are changing everywhere it seems, but there will be snow in the very high mountains wherever you are. We have been getting much warmer winters for the past couple of years, but this year it's really something. We usually get snow in November or early December but tomorrow will be the middle of January and we've only had one snowfall and that was two days ago and even then,it wasn't enough to shovel. It's also a beautiful day today but the wind is a bit high. Blessings.

It's normal to have snow in Hawaii up on Mauna Kea, but did they have it lower down?

So, such big change in the world temperature and weather, would it also affect our daily life, and the agricultural products? Would it be like the ancient prediction that we might have to face the end of this planet? I might read too much scientific fiction, but it might be the sign too. Don't you have that feeling somehow?

"...snow falls every winter on Hawaii's two tallest volcanoes" I got this from http://www.usatoday.com/weather/news/2010-02-11-nationwide-snow_N.htm.
So, snow in Hawaii is not new. http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=13826342 The photo below is the Mauna Kea mountain which, when translated, means "White Mountain".
Still, there will be changes (and are already) in the weather patterns we are used to because the Earth is shifting it's axis. Of course there will be changes. We just have to get used to these changes and work with them instead of being afraid of how we'll handle it.
