Facebook chat keeps freezing nearly all the time

It may have to do with your connection to the internet. If you have an old line it could be that. It could be that the site is over burdoned at that time. Facebook is a popular site and this is a busy night. I talk to a guy in the UK and never have it freeze up. And I talk to a gal who lives right in the same area where I live and it never freezes. So I am thinking it is either your connection or the amount of activity on the site.

My sister's Facebook chat has been acting up for the past 3 months or so. I keep blaming her computer, because she has had it 4-5 years and has never had it cleaned out and it is quite slow. Just like dial up....and she has high speed. I don't know if the problem is her computer or FB. Hope things get better soon for you ....and FB chat.

I am not at all a fan of the facebook chat. I've used it sometimes, but for the most part I will admit that when I am on facebook I keep myself as showing that I am offline because I really don't want to deal with it. The reason that I quit using the chat was because a friend messaged me once and I really thought I was having a conversation with her. Well, I got to where she said she wanted me to pick her up and it turns out that she hadn't seen a thing that I'd written. It looked like we were having a conversation on my end, but nothing I was saying went through to her.

Hi francis_ferns, Well does this happens only with Face book chat or even with other yahoo and gmail chats. Because i dont face this problem as i do chat with my friends daily. If it happens with all chats, i doubt if its the problem on net connectivity. Please make sure of it. Enjoy mylotting Cheers!

hi, i think it because there's a lot of users who online that time, and usually it depends of the net of the user.

Exactly facebook has a problem on chat status bar. but do you have your original picture on facebook??? because without original picture facebook will treat you as a fake user and your account will be closed by the face book admin and then you cant access your facebook account.

I am a Facebook user and I can also say that FB chat isn't that good, perhaps because of the numerous users. So, I still prefer using YM or Skype when you want a longer chat with friends.

if this happens you on a regular basis than i guess there is something to do with your internet connection, i experience the same chat feature problem on facebook but occasionally... not everytime as i use facebook almost everyday. try running facebook on different browsers... i would suggest opera and firefox as they handle such issues very well... facebook has acquired a group chat company by the name of sharegrove and is working now on enhancing the entire chatting experience... so they may come up with a new and improved version of their existing chat, you`ll have to wait for that and see..

Maybe you should try to check your internet connection because it might be the reason on why does the facebook chat freezes on you. Try all the possible aspects. Be patient to try many things.

I've found that to be true of the chat system on any social network. I think it's because so much bandwidth is being used on the page at once, it's difficult for the chat software to keep up.

hello, Is it true that facebook will soon shutdown? is that the effect being freeze? Well, I am not aware of it because I am not chatting at all. I will try it to myself so that i can prove. Maybe, that is the effect of being shutdown soon. right? I dont have idea anymore.
