I am so crazy about my little Eva. We are very tight..lol.
There is something about her that has put her above all others. When I was a child, I had a Schipperke that I was very attached to. You didn't see me without him. The only problem was he would bite thinking he was protecting me. He bit a neighbor or two and I think my grandfather got rid of him, but told me he must have run away while I was at school. I waited for him to come back..just show up.For months, but he never did. I have never been that attached until now. I am so attached to this little dog and she is as in love with me as I am her I have enjoyed pets since my little Skipper but there was not the same bond. I have it again!
So, do you have a pet that has stood above all others? Have you been so attached?

It certainly is true love I have cared for all my pets too. There are those that I have that are more attached to my girls or ones from the past that have bonded with one of the children or the b/f. This one is mine and she lets it be known..lol.

Hello JenInTN,
I loved all the animals in my life. And, of course, I love the dog I have now.
One of the reasons I can't keep more than a dog at a time is that I'm afraid I'd favorize one of them. I don't think it would be fair for the other family dogs if I had a favorite one. That's why I always said I'm an "one dog" owner. This means I won't have too many dogs in my life, but I rather have less dogs than own more dogs and don't have time to care for and love all of them as they deserve.

I know what you are saying. I think that pets are alot like people though..some of them you just get along with better.
I have always enjoyed and cared for my pets but there are the two that I have mentioned that I have had wonderful bonds with. Thanks for the response.

Dear friend,
My two litter dogs Blacky and Bow Bow. Blacky expired and Bow Bow is still here. I had got his may be around 9 years back. Still it is healthy and friendly. When I was small kid I loved small cats. But the attachment I have with Blacky and Bow is far away from any other pets I have.

I've had 12 Shelties since the early 80s. I like to say I loved them all equally, but the truth is I've had three special ones. My first Sheltie, Mystery; my ninth, Mystique; and my eleventh, Sundance. I might have to add, my twelfth, Emily, and my tenth, Reeces. But then again, I might have to add my second, Shady Lady, and her daughter, Ryan. But then there was, Nikki and Tecate, daughter and son of Mystery. And then there was...MyBoi, Magic and Lacy... OOPS, that's all of them! And I cry like a baby when I lose one...

It is hard to lose any and if we think about there are all those that have their own little special personalities and traits to treasure. It's just that the ones I have had after my Skipper were more my children's dogs. There was not that special attachment per say. This one that I have now has really been the one to choose me I suppose..LOL..she is very persistent. I actually got her for my b/f and that wasn't what she was thinking.

I'm glad she chose you...! My Shelties have always been mine (no one elses), so I love them all like they're my kids. In fact, I have to get going... I took Sundance and Emily in to the "spa". I love it when they come out, they smell so great. And now, I might be able to keep the house clean for a little while. Shelties do shed hair!

LOL Jen,
I only have two fishes who I love and care for dearly...
I can believe many can be attached to their pet as when a pet owner owns a pet to a sense that is like their baby. At least I would hope this is why. So having and caring for a pet means you treat it like your child. To love, care and protect them.
Almost like children, we love them all but something for some that either the first, last one or even the one who requires a bit more attention people tend to attach a bit more. So I think it is the same concept. You love all your pets but have attached to Ewa more so.

LOL..it has become that she is much like a child. I don't know when it happened really but suddenly she was always with me. I am crazy about her and she protects me to no end. She weighs like three pounds and when my b/f acts like he is going to hit me..she acts like she is going to eat him alive

Definitely, her name was Suki and she was a Shitzu. When we first got her she was less than a month old and at the time my dad had gotten two other ones. Out of three he acquired, we only kept her "my princess". She was my best friend, my protector, no one could get near me or my mother. She loved going for walks and on joy rides in the car. She had own personal little beds in all of the rooms and at times, she even took naps with me on the bed. I was 11 years old when I got her and unfortunately she passed away a few years ago at the age of 15, before she had the opportunity to move into our new house.
I have had two other dogs after her, but it's not the same thing, I mean don't take me wrong, I still love my dog, but it's not the same thing, the love we had for her was different, she was unique.
Most people say I am crazy, because a dog is just a dog, but I believe other wise. Then again that's just my personal opinion.

I think that dogs are very much like people with special personalities and traits. There are those that are just suited better for you and then there are those that seem like they are made for you. That's how I feel about my Eva. She was meant for me. Thanks for the response.

You are so right, even though they are animals, they bring with them special traits and personalities that make them unique and special. My Suki was just like that and I until this day, I still miss her.

Hi Jen, yes my little Gissi
I was attached to all my Dogs very much but little Gissi is just well so different lol
My previous Dog was more my Sons, he adored my Son, when I had to have him put to sleep due to Cancer it broke my Sons Heart and it took him a while to get over it, but Gissi helped him with that
I also used to have a German Shepherd that I was very attached to but my Ex Husband managed to get rid of him because Sultan always was very protective towards me, so the Ex could not hit me or shout at me

Heyya gabs! That Gissi certainly is quite a character. I can see why you are so attached to him. There are just some pets that we bond with more than others sometimes.
I think my past pets after my Skipper were my children's pets too. My little Eva chose me though.
Too bad about Sultan. I think everyone should have a big dog around to bite the fire out of misbehaving men..lol..thanks for the response and give Gissi a hug.

Usually I only have one pet at a time. So I'm usually very close to that one. I've had Baby the cat for 10 years now and Creamy the Creamcycle for only 2. So I have a much closer bond with Baby. But I do try to be fair to both cats. They have very different needs food wise and attention wise, so it's hard.

It can be hard and I'm like you about not wanting to show favor. Eva is right on me all the time though. The other dogs lean towards my girls and my b/f but not my Eva. She is with me at every turn. She is in my lap right now while the others are snuggled in bed..lol..she is my diehard fan.
Thanks for responding.

Only slightly because I have loved all of my pets very much and I love my current dog very much. My dog Gretchen who was a large German Shepherd and the dog I spent most of my years growing up with. Her and I were very bonded, we slept together and she followed me everywhere. I had to put her down when I was about 21 years old it was incredibly painful. She was about 14 years old.

We always had cats. There have been many I felt very close to. I had a dog that was actually my ex-husband's dog but he and i hit it off right a way. I would go outside and lay in the lawn to enjoy the sun and a book. Here would come Stryder and lay down beside me. He would even let me use him for a pillow when I got real lazy. Stryder was getting old and he would bite the mailman. One time he took out after a jockey boxer that was coming up the street checking out cars. He was so blind, poor thing, he went in the opposite direction of the jockey boxer! We had to put him down. We drove him up to a meadow where we used to go to camp out and buried him there. He was a blue healer. I would have another if I had room. My daughter has cats now and I have resigned myself to no pets. Not enough energy to take care of them the way they deserve.

Stryder was a awesome animal. He even let me dress him up in a scarf, hat and sunglasses and I'd take pics of him. He'd have that look on his face as if to say: "If this wasn't you I would be biting someone!" He was so cute. And he had the gal across the alley(the 7-11) buffaloed and she would feed him expired burittos from the cooler. He is missed. I have had alot of interesting and cool animals in my 59 years. I will have to tell you about Bert one day. He was a halarious cat.

Aww...Stryder sounds like he was an awesome pet. They really do become part of the family. My little Skipper would let anyone come into the yard and pet him but as soon as he caught sight of me...he bit. No warning...just bit. I do understand why something had to be done but I would have done anything to have kept him..put him up...work with him. It really bugs me that my grandfather just took him away like that. Thanks for responding.

I had a cat when I was a teenager. This cat and his brothers and sisters were left in the snow when their Mother disapeared. We thought they were frozen but then one moved so we brought them in the house and warmed them in the open oven until they were all moving. Then we had 8 kittens to hand feed. We only had a doll's bottle and we fed them every three hours for 5 days and nights, then we got them eating a little on their own. Homes were found for all but one and that was Boots, he formed a special bond with me due to all the early care and lived with me for 16 years. He helped me raise my own babies to love cats and was with me through the first very hard years of my marriage. I have never forgotten him and his love.

My late dog was very close to me and I miss her a lot. But my cat is getting pretty close. I've had many dogs in my life and they were all the best, I really can't choose since they were really all my babies. But my late dog was there with me through my toughest times. And now my cat is has taken her spot and takes care of me as I do for him.

Hiya Jen,
Yes I was very close to above any other his name was Shep he was a Border Collie pure Breed and he was very strong and noble.
He would always defend me and go to no one else except me. I had to leave him in England but they would not have let me take him with me in any case because there was Foot and Mouth disease going rampant in England at the time so I had to leave him where he was. He was never my Dog actually as such but like he was as I used to feed him, Comb him, give him to Drink, give him special treats and so on.
We would play for hours with a rubber ring thing with an elastic on it and he would pull for all his might on that Ring. But he never got out of line he just played that´s all and I was used to his ways.
Yes I was very close to him. I have been close to other Pets too but this one above all.

Hiya Jen,
I often think that he was meant for me too but he was the Family Dog and I looked after him and did everything for him too.
When I got to this Country too the problems for bringing even Pet Animals over were very awkward too so I had to give up the idea but is was not easy. I missed him so much for the first few Months and when I went back to see him after a while he went potty the poor thing. He was so glad to see me again and I to see him.

Hi Jenintn!.
I think I have connection with my dog from the day we brought him home. I think in the proses of growing it we waking stronger bond from day to day because we understand them better and they love us more too. I think the good side about having a dog is they know how to love you in return.
I had lost two dog when I was child, one drowning in irrigation pool, until know I don't know what really happen. At thats night we still playing together but in the morning we find him drowning in the pool.
While others dog is another sad story because our family had to move to others island we had to leave him with my uncle in our home town but he seem not accept my uncle as his new master and keep waiting us. He will wait for us at our old house until night than return to my uncle than go back to our old house in the morning. Until one day he hit by car on his way to our old house and every time I watch Hachiko movie its make me cry because I remember this dog.

Aww...they do miss us too when we have to part with them. There are some things we can't help though and I'm sure your family entrusted him with your uncle so that he would be cared for.
It's tough to lose them but it is so wonderful to know that kind of bond too. I'm glad you have a pet that you are connected too. It really can bring a lot of joy.
Thanks for responding.

Pets make life so much more beautiful. I remember having a neighbor with a pet dog and she was more mine than theirs. Julie used to find our place comfortable and loved me like anything. I miss her now.

Good morning, dearest Jen. NOPENOPE...just can't say that any one of my dear friends in fur coats have been more special than another. Truly..truly...each one at the time they are sharing their world with me...is the most special pet in the world. Each has a different trait...a cute quirk of personality, that makes it so individualistic at the time...I think no other will ever be better, or dearer to my heart...but then, another comes along, into my world, and I just melt. Either I have tooooo big of a heart, or I am VERY FICKLE! I have never forgot any of my pets, 3 are buried here, on my property, nor did they lose a place in my heart.
Take care...dear one, in all this tumultuos rain we are having, there was a beautiful rainbow on Monday...and I thought of you. BIG HUGZ!

So good to see you on! I have been missing and wondering about you.
I think that I have just been a bit guarded because of the way that first pet loss went. I don't think I really thought of it, but I just let them choose the children..lol. This little devil would not have that...she has her own agenda and there was no wall that would keep her little hiney out. I can't even say the moment it happened. All of a sudden I was just feeling for her in my hoodie pocket.

We have 3 dogs, 2 pairs of doves, fish and a turtle at home. They are all my pets and making each of my morning even busier. If you care to see their photos then you can see them here http://evergreenlily.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-pets.html. The other pair of doves is not shown here because they are not yet ready to pose for a picture. My favorite of all my pets is the oldest dog named Puji for he has been with us for long time and has served us so faithfully. Lately I'm also liking my doves. One of them has already given me eggs and it thrilled me. This is the first time I would see baby doves straight from the eggs. I was told that it will take 3 weeks to hatch the eggs so I am looking forward to that day with so much excitement.

We were just newly weds at the time, and I was fresh out of high school...we got this mixed breed dog...Golden Retriever and something else, but his markings for being a golden retriever were undeniable. He was a beautiful dog, and smart too...his name was Dusty. I miss Dusty...we had him for seven years, when we had to give him away when we moved to another state...that was back in 1989...

I think that it is a terrible fate for a dog. I got a rescue dog one that had lived that same life. Her paws had never even been on grass when we got her. It took a lot of work but she is a very happy girl. She is my b/f's dog. She attached to him right away. She likes us all but it is him that is so important to her. Thanks for responding and I'm glad to hear that you saved her from a loveless life.
