Currently, I am using the free version of avast. As far as I know, different antivirus programs protect the computer from different types of viruses. I prefer avast over avira and antivir since I noticed that viruses not detected by avira/antivir can be detected by avast. I asked computer technicians about the best antivirus but they couldnt name one. I would really want to get the full version of the antivirus but it is quite expensive and as of the moment it is not included in my budget. So i think I have to live with the free version. I am still in the search for a better free antivirus. Avast is not that good too maybe because the one I'm using is a free version. Last November, my computer got attacked by a strong virus (I forgot the name though) and I had to wait for a month to have it worked again. The virus was making the computer restart again and again and it didn't allow me to re-install my printer. Hopefully it won't happen again because in our world right now, computer and internet are two very important things.

Hmmm, I am not sure which one I have on my laptop, whatever brand I have is what came with my laptop when I bought it. I pretty much don't trust any of them...as someone who is going to get into your pc, they will find a way. Those geeks are pretty smart...that's why they are geeks!

I assemble and troubleshoot PCs as a hobby. I personally always use and recommend free antiviruses from reputed brands e.g. AVG, Avira etc. I have never had any problems with free antivirus software. It does the work just fine. Currently I am using AVG Free Edition 2011 and it just keeps getting better with each update.

Those free version are good (in my opinion), but don't forget to update. I am using AVG free and it works good. Then I'm also using the local antivirus Smadav, for free too. A friend once told me that, I should use 2 antivirus, one is for fighting the international viruses and the other for the local ones. So far I've survived the cyber world.
