One Word Title

Does it takes more than a word for a title to make a topic more interesting? For me the Title is the facade of the discussion. It will somehow represent the entire discussion but what we cite in there must conform to the content or body thus its purpose is justified. I just noticed most of the topics here including mine composed of multiple words in the title. Personally, I think it would make our discussions more catchy if our topic is as descriptive as possible. What do you think?

For me,the title plays a vital role in a discussion.so you have to make it sure that your title is something catchy or very attractive in the eyes of the readers.one word title?i think i haven't tried it here from the time i started.and i think,i will not catch the interest of the responders with a one word title.but if you can choose a word that is really catchy, that will be great. i've notice that if you are an old member of the site, even though your discussion is not that interesting, you still get a lot of responses, it's because you have already built good reputation to the site.

I don't know, it must be the current time now and cold right here why those things suddenly popped into my mind hehe. If you can see, the first one is for the boys and the other is for girls. LOL

Actually it should be like that but some how some of our friends are like planting rice in the field just throwing the seeds (that's all). For sure in the discussion guidelines title was mentioned as one important part of the discussion which you said must be catchy and discriptive from the body. I just affraid that may be this is it the discussion crissis here in mylot... what do you think? see you around

I just re-think again because of the title can stand alone because if you read that all ideas are arising from your mind like "Success", "Love" and others but only caution for this is duplicate discussion titles but can stand alone and will differ only in the contents - are you in or still not convincing... see you around

Sorry for am not sure if I get what you mean. If you mean the title to stand alone regardless of what the content is, whether related or irrelevant to the topic. Yes it may, as I said above with the words At most instead of using always or all the time. Meaning I am also accepting the fact that there are times the title will stand alone. Well I saw many topics that the title and the content are exactly the same but still received comments.

Hey there visavis, As I have said, "Title is the facade of the discussion'. The better the title the better chance of receiving numerous responses. At most, The title alone cannot stand by itself without a good and vivid details in the main body.

I usually try to make the topic more like an interest grabber. That's not really achievable all the time. So there are times when I just try to encapsulate the discussion in a phrase that lets myLotters know what it is all about.

Yes, I have the same trouble - at least the part about trying to find just the right catchy topic title!

Hi there macdolinger, Yes, I agree. In my case, sometimes I overdo the title not knowing by dressing it with too much words is losing the subject itself I wanted to convey. For me, thinking the topic is easy, the hardest part is how to present it in a attractive way.

I would have to agree with you. It's important to catch as many responders as possible to keep the discussion going, more fun and even more earning(lol). For me one word titles are not so appealing and that it doesn't give meaning at all. A member my have doubts in taking time to read the post because of a bad title. So for me, if i were to make a discussion, the title should have to be as descriptive as possible.

And let me just add..more knowledge. We learn from every comment or responses, that's if everybody would read the responses. We will really be growing here. :)

more fun and more earning Thumbs up for this. As the respondents increases the discussion is getting lively and broaden. The more poster is the more comments you can give and more money you can earn from it.

I say it all depends on what our post is about. Sometimes, one word title is enogh to summarise what we want to tell others. There are people who prefer their post to be in in story mode by starting off as the title before continuing into the actual body. It does not matter what the title is, as long as it draws attention.

True. Sometimes a single word Title can draw attention if the subject is really that interesting. But most of the time we tend to put more words in the title to best describe and be more specific on the subject we want to imply.

we try to make our title as descriptive as possible, it needs a period of time to make. and it is skillful to realize it,sometimes bit hard for those who use english as a second language. As you have had this idea to improve and refine the titles, would you please make some examples and teach us how to do? thanks.

Hi there xinshunhe, Like what I've commented above, English is also my second language and I do hace some discussions too with less comments no matter I tried to make it as descriptive as possible. Maybe isn't interesting at all. Actually when I think of a discussion, always come up with the title first. From there, just elaborate the topic by citing some facts and information, sharing my points of view and even my own experiences. Well, don't know if I could teach you well for I am having a hard time sometime thinking some topics. Okay let me try it. When you want to start a discussion with DOGS, don't just use DOG as the title. Think of something that may persuade the readers maybe the unusual or unbelievable things that your dog is doing. Say 'Doggie saves my day' or 'Dog is my bestfriend's worst enemy'. Expand the subject and talk about what happen like narrating a story.

Hi there henkiprananda, English is my second language and I could say am not even as good as the other members. I do have some topics too with few responses. Well, there are reasons for that, the title itself can be one. Please don't get me wrong for starting this topic as I don't have any intentions to point any one who presents their discussion with just a word. I myself can be considered newbie.
