To an extent at least. If you are never satisfied, you will find new ways to help yourself excel at life and achieve some level of greatness. Of course, you could go all the way around to the other extreme that where you are never satisfied and it can drown you in so much negativity. At the same time, if you are content with the bare minimum, life will just be an empty void. People top themselves because they can think they do better. Perhaps I could have gotten a perfect grade on that test, instead of just a mere A, things like that. So yeah, satisfaction at times can put a cap on our achievements and no one wants that.

One do need to be satisfied with who you are and what you achieve in life. I believe it all originates from your own believe in who you are. If you believe you are destined for greatness then that is what ultimately will follow because you will do great things. I knew a man who was a brilliant and very intelligent person. But when he had to write an exam, he would calculate which questions would add up to a 50% mark. Then he would just do or answer those questions and hand in his paper. Even though he could answer all the questions and receive a perfect mark. He knew his abilities and did not try to impress others. Our feelings of satisfaction is sometimes influenced by others around us that we try to impress

Satisfaction can be influenced by the people around us. Some of us have a very attainable level based on people around us not really doing anything extraordinary. Then there are sometimes where we are surrounded by extraordinary people to say the very least and that can cause us to keep raising the bar. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Wanting more isn't necessarily bad. We can attribute progress because of our desire to have something better/faster/stronger. Back in the days, the only way you can communicate to a person is by talking or writing a letter. Now, we have cellphones and emails. Our way of life gets better because of man's insatiable desire.
However because of this desire we tend to miss on those things that are far more important in life like enjoying the company of our family. Learn how to appreciate what you have right now. Take time to enjoy life!

A good point is made. You can be blinded by what success you might have. Therefore you get blinded by other great things in life and thus you lose sight of what is important. Still as long as you make sure your priorities are straight, then everything will work out. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes, that is very true. But I admire, even envy those people who are easily satisfied.. They are the ones who are truly happy. Although they are not the best there is, satisfaction is what life should be all about, not achievements.

Yes but that would be boring. To be absolutely content in some things. Although to be honest, we have to be satisfied in some things but not everything. We need to push ourselves and those who are happy with everything would not think of any way to better themselves. Why would they? They are content. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Never being satisfied gives no cause for much criticism, but when it comes to wealth and power,It should be regarded as a different matter. As the saying goes,Enough is as good as a feast.

Indeed there are times where we need to be satisfied but there are times where satisification might not be the best thing. It really does depend on the situation. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Newton's world-famous scientist once said:"I do not know how people look at me, but I just feel like a child playing at the beach, sometimes with a smooth and happy to pick up beautiful shells, but the truth of the sea I have not found."
Truth is infinite, personal achievement is limited, so we can never be satisfied.

i have to disagree with you on this to some extent even though what you say might be correct... i think that we have to be contented with all that we have because they are all blessings from God and they all come from Him... the problem with human beings is they never satisfied with what God has given to them and they always want more and more... and therefore, they become greedy... this is when the problem start to appear... i'm not saying that we can't have dreams or goals in our lives... we can... but they all have to be put into God's hands so that we won't become a greedy person... take care and have a nice day...

See the title, first time a sentence came to me:stay foolish, stay hungry,by Steven Jobs. This sentence is an advice to all the young people who are willing to be successful in the future, said to the students on Harvard's gradution ceremony.I like this sentence very much.It means also the same thing, try to be the best and never think being just OK.
Desire to be perfect makes someone perfect,so satisfaction stops our steps going much further.

Greetings!
Yes. I agree if we're not satisfied in our life, we always want to go beyond the limits. It motivates us more to do something better and to improve ourselves and our lives. If we're satisfied, we're contented. If we're contented, then that's all. We must always do something to have what's best for us and we can only do that if we're not satisfied with what we are and what we have. Dream more, dreams what's best and do any thing just to fulfill it. :)

If we stop dreaming, then our life is pretty much to a stand still. Being satisfied with everything can be a bit insane, as that means you really have no standards. Content people can be lazy and people who are not content have to drive to step over content people and move straight to the top. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

It is like considering the glass to be half empty whereas there are those that say this is a challenge to fill it while others say they are running out.
I find that if at times I am not satisfied with certain things, even thought they are acceptable this leads me to attempt for better next time. So as a result I do not brush it off as it being so easy but rather that I review, reassess and figure out how much better I can do next time.

That is a good analogy. Sure we still have half of a glass there. But lets go and try and fill it up just a little further. Completely topped off...well lets see how much we can get away with before it does overflow. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I also agree with this, if you were satisfied in life you would have no goals, no drive. I can understand being satisfied with certain things in your life, but not everything. I believe no one is completely satisfied.

There will be things that will be satisfied with in my life. However, I think that truly no one can be satisfied in a manner that I can mentally justify. There might be a bit of a problem. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
