Hey guys. I would just want to ask if it is true that using your game consoles on LCD or Plasma Tv is bad? Is it true? You probably heard this from others as well. We are planning to buy a nice TV for our console (we will replace that old Cathode ray tube TV!). However, we think it is a bit risky because some were saying that it might destroy your television or shorten its life. Is it true? It would be very nice to play on a good TV. I was also thinking why would these game consoles exist if it would just destroy Televisions? I mean, game console makers could have thought about that when they were making the consoles and they could have considered that while they were making these toys. What do you think guys? Do you use Nice Tvs for your consoles? What happened to your TV? Is it just a myth or games could really affect the TV parts? thank you ery much. Your response would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think that gaming or watching dvd can affect tv parts, its simple data transfer as normal tv, just more data coming from cable to block in tv :) so nothing bad can happen.

I just cant help but think that it could cause damage because of the output that it transmits. And I have also heard that old consoles cause damage to cathor ray tube televisions.

The only reason I can see that consoles would be bad for the TVs is because of the HUD used in most games. This remains static while the rest of the screen is active, and as a result, can lead to a burn in on the monitor. I use my PS3 and Wii on a 42" plasma TV, and its brilliant immersing yourself through a big screen. When I do play, I take the usual precautions of stopping at regular intervals, and this pays off as well because the TV has a break too :P which reduces the risk of a burn in.
A games console uses a TV as nothing but an output for video and audio. Just as a DVD player or Set Top Box would do. I have not come across any of these accessories damaging my TV, nor do I expect them to.

yes you got that right mate. I was also thinking that it is not different with using a DVD player. It just transmits the video to your television set. However, I also think that it could possibly damage your television set for reasons that game consoles transmit different kind color outputs to your tv. Anyway, thank you mate. That was very helpful.
