Should our government tax us less on income than on sales tax?

Here is the dilemma, and if we could vote on it? Facing the current economy, although we are on the gradual recovery, should our government tax less on our income tax, and more on sales tax? Or vice versa, tax more on our income tax, and less on sales tax? Which might cause severe effect? I would personally not want the government to tax more on our income, because my income is just not enough to pay bills and handle other payments. I definitely need more incomes. What do you think?

I prefer them to tax more on income and lesser on sales. It is more painful for the people is there is an increase in sales tax. The total add up will be more than what one have to pay with an increased income tax. So, the poorer people will end up having to pay more. This will only widen the income gap between the two group.

For me not because they are to find ways how to add the lost they are counting.

I don't think the government should charge our income in the first place. They're staggering it up on the items we buy, right? Why focus on our income too? That's just too greedy.

the govt should based income tax on the purchasing power of the currency and the average income of the population. then, govt will focus on the sales tax. it will then be up to the consumer to buy or to save

Government do need income to finance the public services. If they tax more on income tax, it can bridge the gap between poor and rich but this can only be done through lower tax rates or some exemption for low income earners and higher tax rate for high income earners but problem may arise do we tend to pubnish hard working peolp? If government tax more on sales tax it may trigger more savings however everything may seem more expensive. This problem could be solved through exempt sale tax to basic living items however it would make the tax system quite complicated. All in all it is not easy to find a balance in tax making system. Government need to look at the big picture and weight things from different aspects before setting up the tax system and adjust depends on circumstances.

Taxes are one thing we never be able to seem to agree on. Some of us think there should be no tax at all. some think only the wealthy should be taxed. there are even some people that believe we are not taxed enough. Deciding if income tax should be less than sales tax is an issue we could debate until the end of time and still not find the answer.

Either of the two would bring negative effects to us when increased. for those people who are earning less or just enough, would cut short in their income or budget to provide for their needs and wants. And when taxes on sales are increased there would be cut of demand or sales of products because it is becoming more expensive and people can not afford.
