Some people test spaghetti noodles on knowing if they are done by tasting them and seeing if they taste done or not and some people throw the noodles on the wall and if they stick they are done.
I taste my spaghetti noodles to see if they are done.
What do you do to know if your spaghetti noodles are done?

I had a friend once throw the noodle at the wall. I gave him a sponge and told him he can scrub the wall. Needless to say the relationship ended that day. You don't throw food in my house. What planet was he born on? Was he raised in a cave?
I can tell if my pasta is ready by looking at it. For most types of pasta it's the way they move in the water. With a few shapes it's the way they stay on the fork. If it's shells or a tubed variety, I have to taste them. I've been eating pasta almost every day of my life since I moved out of my parents house. That was something like 30 years ago. That's a lot of pasta.

What kind of person throws food on walls? I was raised that you don't even touch walls because it will make them dirty.

It is nasty.Just think when they do that it could fall off the wall into the pan and make all of the noodles nasty. What's nasty is that I was finding noodles still on the wall after they were done. That is how I found out that they did that.

That is funny. I wouldn't like noone throwing noodles in my house either. I knew someone that did that, that is why I thought to mention this. He is the only person I've known to do that and he said he's known lots of people to do that.Thank you for telling me how you know when your noodles are done! Have a good weekend!

I take one out of the boiling water, wait a sec so I won´t burn, crunch it a bit with my fingers and then taste it. I´d never throw them on the wall or ceiling

I have heard of it but never seen it. I´d never do it. I think it´s grosse to throw food at the walls although one of my dreams is to throw eggs at a wall when I´m very mad.

Thank you for commenting.I've only known one person that threw the noodles on the wall to test if it was done. I was really surprised when I came to their house and seen spaghetti noodles on the wall. I asked why and that's what they told me. They said they knew other people that did that too.

I thought it was gross too.It would make your walls really nasty. It is a mess having to clean up after cooking anyways then to have to clean your walls.I knew a lady that wouldn't watch her eggs while they were boiling and lots of different times they would pop eggs all over the ceiling.I've heard of people getting so bad that they through eggs at the wall.

When making spaghetti noodles I put some salt and oil into water before I let it boil. when it is boiling already I add the noodles and I let it cook for about 10mins. try a noodle if it's already half-cook. If it is,turned off the stove and cover it until the remaining heat will help to cook the noodles.
Viola! Ready to serve with sauce. :)
Happy eating!

Thank you for commenting. That is kind of how I do it but I put salt and a butter knife amount of butter in it.I don't turn it off though when they are half way done and put a lid on them. Sounds like something to try to see if it works out for me.

Spaghetti noodles should be perfect not just done. It should be "al dente". Biting into it is the most reliable way I know. When you think it's perfect... remove the noodles immediately from the stove and wash it with cold water to stop the cooking process.

Hi, marg.....I go by the time from first boil....9 minutes, no more, no less. Occasionally I may taste but I've been making spaghetti for so long that I can usually tell by the feel through the lifter handle. I have been known to throw out a whole pot of spaghetti if it is overdone. I refuse to eat it. It's gotta be just al dente and the 9 minutes does that for me.

Thank you for commenting. That sounds like something to try out. I've never tried that.I usually let my water boil before I put my noodles in instead of putting them in cold water and waiting for the water to boil then 9 minutes later them being done. If that works for me . The spaghetti would get done a lot faster. That kind of sounds like the way of making boiled eggs but for 5 minutes for them.

Thank you for commenting. I've known people to throw noodles on the wall to test them and them not even cleaning them off the wall afterwards.
