Work to live or live to work?

A blogger/mylotter/super friend posted this in our facebook group page, and I think it's very interesting to share too. She asked us if we choose to live to work or work to live. How about you? Would you want your life be dictated by the social upbringing that you finish school so you can get a decent job and be a slave so you can put food on your table, or the option to just enjoy what life brings?

Work to live is my choice.. haha =D Life is short and why bury ourself in work, make ourself so busy to the extend of not having time for ourself right? Work is to make money, earn enough for our living. If not, what's the point in earning a much a month, yet no time to spend?? haha =D One should be content with a comfortable life but not extravagazant.. lol =D

I changed my life some years ago, and no longer work. I chose to be money poor and time rich, rather than the other way around. It means I cannot buy all the things that many people see as their right, but I'd rather it was this way.

I wish I could afford not to work. It's not that I'd mind being somewhat money poor, but I have bills that I have to pay (house payment, for instance). I'm doing as much as i can to cut back other financial needs (gardening for food, for instance, since I'm vegetarian I can eat a lot of homegrown stuff quite happily). But there will always be house payment/rent, utility costs, and health coverage to worry about. I'd love to get by without all those costs, but right now, I don't see any way out of it (at least, not other than dying, and I don't want to go that route!)

You make it sounds like I have a trust fund or something! I can't AFFORD not to work, I just choose to do without. There's a comfort barrier which most people don't want to break, which is most understandable. I don't pay utility bills, because I'm not connected to them for instance.

I absolutely love your question...because this is the same which I tell all my friends that we need to just WORK to LIVE and not vice versa. At the end of the day, we have to enjoy the life because no one knows what happens the next moment. If you earn a lot also and cannot have time to utilise your earnings then it will be a sad thing....

I would rather work to live, that is to say I would much rather just have a job that makes me a bit of money so that I can get by and so that I can enjoy life more then just always being at the office or at work trying to get that money. I feel like even a menial job is okay, as long as you have time to enjoy yourself and are happy with your situation. Plus, we can always come to sites like this to earn a littl extra if we really need to, and it's better then working all the time.

It would be sad, in my opinion, that live is all about work. Sadly, many people are not taking their time to think about their lives.

In my opinion, i am a person who works to live. Logically, if you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth you have to work in order to live , not just so-so but with all the comforts of life. But i see to it that i enjoy my work and i really do , a lot!

In life, we have to work to suffice our needs. Life won't bring something to someone who does nothing. We work to live but we should not let ourselves be a slave of money. Neither to let money define who we are. Earning enough to live, enjoy life and have a decent living...that's it.

A complicated question but for me I would choose work to live, I guess we all are except for a few maybe.Every individual has his/her own explanation of what these words means to them.If possible one must have an education or have finished a degree in order for us to have a decent job and support our family. We have to work to put food on our table, clothings and shelter for our children. And those who chose otherwise have no dreams or plan in life.

I choose: work to live. That means I have to have an education and skills to be able to get money from it so I can live. I am kind of carefree, so I would not want to be a slave of a job. Just doing what I am supposed to do in job, get my salary to buy foods and enjoy this life. I don't know what the people do for entertainment when they are tight to their jobs.

I would say work to live. No one would work if we didn't have too.Life is so short that it is best to enjoy life while you can and only go to college if what you want to be takes a college degree. Some people college isn't for them. Even if they went to college some people can't pass it because they have a hard enough time getting their high school diploma. Have a good week and if you want you can invite me to be your friend so I can see you topics and try my best to answer them.
