Dhoni is a great player and he will be the same too.... He's played both the roles very very well... When he used to be the best hitter in the team, he was good in that role... Now that there are the likes of Raina and Yusuf, we need someone to play a stable role and he has taken it....
And do not think that he forgot how to play the shots... If you see the match against Punjab in the IPL, you wouldn't say that...
And he is surely a talented captain... but he's surely got luck in having such great names under his captaincy....

May be he needs to provide the stability in the middle order than bashing the ball around... We have raina and Yusuf for that job.... Its surely the responsibility of both of them to take on the bowlers... While dhoni needs to stay on and keep rotating the strike and if possible bash a few balls out of the ground at the end of the match...

He is a Lucky player surely , Dhoni . He is not as talented as others are . Its just his stars which are shining brightly nothing else. the talent which he has of hitting sixes and the helicopter shots are gone in vain , he hardly uses those shots.

For his present situation i must say he is lucky to get great talent in his team.Otherwise now a days he performance very bad and struggling but as he has a good player in his team that's why still he is getting chance.
But i hope he can do well for his team.
Have a good time!

Hi Raj,
Currently Dhoni has been lucky under the performance of the other players.Dhoni played some great shots and amazed the fans by his hitting strength.Due to his hitting ability he got the captain position. He was very lucky that he got the t20 World cup on his debut series as a captain. Then he had a good run and he also continued his performance. But for the past year his performance has been not good.He played well in t20s and in ODI series he has began falling down in his batting performance. Most of the matches that India won was due to the performance of the other players. So I think Dhoni is very lucky. But it will be challenge for him when he takes his team to the World cup.If they early exit from the series then Dhoni will be facing more problems like Dravid.
Have a great weekend.

Dhoni has proved to be a good captain, but I am sure as a captain luck plays more than 80% role for him.
He is talented because he knows when to change game plan, how to change batting order. He ask senior players advice and pay them proper attention. He give respect to seniors' opinion and always appreciate youngsters when they do well.
Dhoni is a lucky captain.
But we should also keep in mind that is it his talent only that has brought him into team and later made captain.

Dhoni is also talented. But he is very very lucky. As the saying goes, he was in the right time at the right place. The rest is history.(His-Story).

He is talented of course, good captain too.
But I'm happy that more people are realizing the "luck factor" that gets him all these victories. I don't think his batting skills can be compared to any of our other super star batsmen... but he is clever that he never lets his opponents find his real weaknesses. Seems like his lucky days are fading and failures will definitely come in soon. I am not a great fan of the the way he handles the team members, creating and maintaining a Senior-junior among the players, no respect to senior batsmen like Ganguly, Dravid.
His first class and test match records says it all, its not pure talent, but clever self diagnosis and planning that got him to what he is.
There are many (in fact so many) talented players than him here in India, but I'm not sure about that captain's spot. I'm looking forward to Virat Kohli as the future captain who does have talent as well. But he'll have to wait long to see senior players including Dhoni, Yuvi, Gambhir retire.
About Dhoni- the big hitter, I don't think he is one.. I don't remember him winning a match for INDIA with explosive batting in (recent)years..

I think Dhoni is lucky and talented. It is a fact that he is struggling for run but any time he can add run in his account. As a captain he had to face many problem and had to stay in pressure, so it is hard to face the ball carelessly. I think it a one of the most important reason for any captain.
Now our Indian cricket team is very strong in the world cricket. Dhani is lucky for this talented players like Sachin, Laxman, Yuvaraj, Zahir Khan etc.

Ya Dhoni is certainly a lucky captain under these great talented players like God(Sachin),Zaheer,Bhajji. But he is a very experienced captain in all forms of the game. He is not so talented in batting and I like his batting style but not so much. But his captaincy is very good and luck also favours him in most recent times. Both luck and experience made him a good captain.
