Well, being as it's been artic like here in Minnesota I was bored and my sweet tooth kicked in big time this afternoon. So I baked. This is a shot of some of the 5 dozen Oatmeal Raisin cookies I baked. Dad loved them. He saw me setting them outside to cool and asked if I was feeding the birds. Yeah right, not my baked goodies. So what have you baked lately for a cold day or a warm treat? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!

I haven't really baked since the holidays, but I roasted a nice pork yesterday. Come to think of it you just reminded me that leftovers only need re-heating. Yummy cookies by the way, care to share??, as they would go well for dessert, oh heck with anything, as long as I can have them with milk.

It is good your dad is getting to enjoy your cooking. Oatmeal raisin cookies are pretty healthy, too. I am getting closer and closer to going to bake something.

I bake a lot actually. We did not so any this past Holidays season though. And that's odd for us as we usually bake maybe 10 dozen cookies of all sorts and give them as gifts to neighbors etc. Ummm, share? Dad and I ate them all and my Beagle Buster even had one. HAH! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!

I baked a apple pie the other day. Eating a slice of apple pie and drinking a cup or two of coffee warmed me up

I have 2 apple trees in my back yard and have made treats with them. I have yet to bake a pie from them though. Was going to last fall, but the early spring then freezing temps in April killed all the blossoms. So this year I plan on pies if I get apples. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I made Yorkshire parkin on Saturday, which is similar to gingerbread, all sweet and sugary and treacley, mmm! Going to warm some up for dessert tonight and serve it with warm butterscotch sauce that my sister made. Ooooh can't wait.

One of my fave treats is my homemade bread pudding. But I am the only one in my family that eats it so I do not make it that often. Last time I did bake some, I forgot about the bread in the warm oven to dry it out and 3 hours later I had black croutons actually. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi Grandpa Bob! NO surprise about that "sweet tooth" of yours!lol Glad to hear that you still love to bake! Everytime I hear Minnesota mentioned you are the first person I think of, well you and the rest of the brood! I happen to love Oatmeal cookies, but not too keen on raisins for some reason. Glad you Dad is still enjoying the treats as well!

Hi Grandpa there! Though we don't have the weather like yours. But nowadays, here we have also a cold wave and the below the zero. I use to prepare the chicken soup mostly and I feel good to bake a brown cake. Kids love to enjoy sort of things likewise. By the way, very nice to see you Pa! aliasad.

I don't bake a lot, but I was thinking of making something. It is cold here also and turning the oven on would not be a bad thing. I am looking for a blueberry recipe that I have everything for. I would like to clean out the fridge and I have a lot of fruit to get rid of. I did find one recipe for cookies, but it calls for dried berries and mine have been frozen and have a lot of juice.

Yummy yummy in the tummy. Baking in the winter time is so much fun. Its nice to have the oven on and smell all them good aromas. Plus the oven adds some heat in the house. Its been a cold winter so far. I am so looking forward to spring. I really haven't done much baking lately. but just hearing about your cookies has me wanting to get out in the kitchen and rattle some pots and pans.

I have been baking bread for quite awhile. I made my first sourdough bread this week. I also make herbed bread with cottage cheese in it. Last week I made some awesome beef stew, and yesterday I made some great chili. I have two cookies that I want to make pretty soon.

This was my first sourdough, but from looking online, I got the impression that sourdough takes a lot longer to rise than the bread machine allows. I think it could be used to make up the dough. However, the recipe I used makes two loaves and from a previous experience with trying to mix up two loaves in the machine it does not turn out as well. Sourdough is so simple that it works well in a bowl. I had started my own starter and this was the first I used it. It worked really well.

I want a bread machine too. Years ago before our kids were born I used to make bread from scratch. Mom taught me and it always turned our fantastic tasting. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

GG when you make sourdough bread do you use a bread maker. I have just recently been introduced to sourdough bread and yummy. It is like I want it all the time now. I am aiming for a break maker this year. So I will be PM you one day for advice.

well, I've been on this diet for a while, and I wouldn't dare set anything outside to cool, besides, if I'm baking, I am trying to warm the house UP! and sure wouldn't do anything to cool it off! But, mostly I've been making and drinking hot tea.

Oatmeal raisin and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies are my favorite cookies!! In fact, I bought one of Starbuck's Oatmeal Raisin cookies just tonight. Unfortunately, I don't bake except for the occasional cake. When I do buy cookie mix, it never makes it to the oven since I love raw chocolate chip dough so much more than the cookies themselves!

Hi, webeishere.....cold weather = brownies....I make brownies! I usually make a batch about every 5 days and I share with my next door neighbor. She has developed a sweet tooth just like I have. I use the Best Brownies recipe from allrecipes.com....mmmmm. They're so good. I change around and use a different recipe every so often. I like 'em fudgy and chewy; not the cake-like kind. They don't last long.
