So I walked into the pharmacy

close to home and told the staff that I was on a serious mission. It was just after opening therefore it was nearly empty.
I told them that they did not have to state it as I already knew that I was hot and looked younger that my age but I needed their help. I headed towards the make up and admitted that apart from moisturiser with built in sunscreen and a lipstick, I did not have any other make up and wanted to look sharp for a meeting with all owners in our city next Wednesday.
Therefore, I am begging them for assistance as I need updating. Continuing, I admitted watching videos on how mature women should apply make up so I had a basic idea but needed the products to match my skin tone.
We had so much fun and even a few shoppers joined in with advice. They tried out different foundations until they all agreed on the best one to even my skin tone.
Does my skin tone need evening I asked? Oh yes they replied, it is a bit blotchy. Me? Blotchy skin?
So I ended up staying there for over an hour and I bought foundation, lipstick, lip liner, and new eye makeup. They eye makeup is cute as is says distinctly which colour to apply to lid, brow bone and yet another shade for the crease. which is great for dummies like me.
They then told me I needed blusher and something to put on my eyebrows.
Well, I purchased the lot and I received a new cosmetic case and shampoos and conditioners for free for buying so much.
I promised them that I would wear all the make up on Monday and go in to show them my new look. Actually, I put it all on today to go to Church and my daughter said that I should wear make up daily as I looked good.
The point of the discussion is do you make friends with the people who work in your local shops?

Come on now, 'fess up' lol.I think it's wonderful that u still have that much pride in how u look[at your age, lol]. U know i'm teasing w/u about your age. U will have to send me a picture w/all your /war paint on as my grandad use to call it.I useto wear some makeup but i don't anymore. Guess i don't have anyone i'm wanting to impress. I know u were looking good to go to church, GOOD FOR U. HUGS.

I should have got my daughter to take a photo yesterday as I put it all on to go to Church! I think that I do look a bit better. I especially like the foundation or I think you call it a base in the US.
It is light and it does do its' job - a little Am so glad for the happy pills. Took a half a while ago as I was a bit fragmented. My boss kept calling me asking if I am ready for it. Hell yes - I will be ready with all paperwork.I know that I have to make you look good on Wednesday. That is part of my job I am laughing! The pill has worked

Ok so I don't know how old you are but I do know that you are very very brave! I would have asked my best friend or daughter to advise me on make up but not a bunch of people in the local store. I've always been told that the older you get...less is best and that works for me and I've seen it work for other woman that are older. I used to wear a lot more makeup when I was younger and I've cut back on it so so much. I do wear the foundation...got the blotches going on too and I wear mascara. I once in a while will wear the eye liner which I used to be so addicted to. I never wear lipstick or eyeshadow. Anyway, to answer your question...yes I do make friends with the people who work in the local shops. It's pretty cool when they greet you by name when you walk in and if they aren't busy we chat and get to know each other. I work in a store in a small town and I would say that I know everyone in that town...it's pretty cool.

No, I just work there. I used to live there but then moved to the city which is about 20 mins or so away. I work in the store and I love it. Actually it is the people I love. Everyone knows everyone and it's just cool. Well, you should post us a picture of your d0-over. I'll bet you looked amazing!

My daughter wasn't around but if she was then she would not have been any help as she rarely wears make up! So you live in a small town too? I am now past 60 and looked on YouTube for advice so I had an idea after watching the videos what I needed to do. Blessings!

I had myself geared up to hear another funny Cynthi story.. and this one isn't that funny! LOL
Well it's nice that everyone was willing to help you out and find your best shades. I personally found my best shades just by experimenting with different things.. back in the days when I used to wear make up everyday. These days I only wear make up on special occasions!

I wanted the input from young people so that I would not look out dated. Wish me luck. The meeting is tomorrow.

Hi cynthann! I bet you looked just gorgeous! I'm sure you looked
fine before, but sounds like you got everything you needed for
"enhancement". And yes, I usually make friends wherever I go
too. People just seem to want to talk to me! Sometimes when
I'm shopping people seem to think I work in the stores and start
asking me for help. I guess that's because I spend so much time
in the stores because I can't find what I need or I can't make
up my mind when I do!

I am friends with a lot of the people who work in the local stores. Because this is a small town and people are friendly. I bet the makeup was fun. It sounds as if you live in a very friendly community.

I live near this town for the past 40 years so I sort of know many people. It is great to walk into a place and someone rushes to tell you how well their child is doing at school or ask after my children. I do like small towns
Actually the whole country is only 120 miles long and forty five miles wide at the largest point
But as there are so many mountains and rivers it can take a long time to reach anywhere so we do not get Island fever

yes...in fact both my sisters and my kids hate shopping with me as I know everyone and so it takes a lot longer as I have to stop and visit along the way! LOL...some even know right away what I am after....like I can walk into a place and they have what I need ready to ring up....strange but a compliment to me!

Glad you got a make over and some good advice and some compliments to boot about your new look.
I would not say I'm friends with anyone in the stores. I make small talk with the grocery store clerks from time to time.

Hi, cyn....sounds like you had a fun time buying make up. I haven't worn make up for years. Just use moisturizer. I do shopping at a local supermarket and the same pharmacy all of the time. The staff at the grocery has become familiar to me and we usually have a bit of conversation when I'm checking out. At the pharmacy I am a regular and have become well acquainted with the staff. One of my cousins works at one of the check-out counters. That's about the extent of my socializing while shopping. Some of the other stores that I shop are so big and the staff so many that we don't reallly get to know each other.

making friends with them or not this is a lot of fun and enjoyment to do. it makes you feel so good and pampered. ive done it a couple times when there was special make up sales going on. went into places at the mall where they will work with you and tell you just what you need and show you how to apply and give you all kinds of freebies just for buying some. great fun. wish i could do it more. but have to wait till i have more money for it.

I admit to you that it has given me a bit of a lift. I put it on a credit card as I do not get paid until the end of month. My nails will be done tomorrow and my hair Tuesday lunchtime. I am just praying that they will not ask me many too hard questions.

The closest to a friend I could thinkg of, locally is the barber. I know that he is just making barbers-talk, but the regularity of me and my sons coming and going have grown a certain familiarity. He knows when it's time for us to get a cut, and he even gives us advice on what to do with our hair to make it healthy.
I'm sure he does the same with all of his patrons, but sometimes it just makes it feel special.

I am quiet friendly with them but I did not really make them friends. They are food vendors, beauty spa and salon attendants, clothes and shoes stores, photo shops, etc. I guess I should approach them first when I need help in future depending on their expertise.

Yes you could approach the, Always good to have friends who work in this area. Sometimes they have to deal with people from hell who verbally abuse them. Give a smile and say hello to everyone

Not actually friends but I am a bit of a bubbly person when I buy stuffs but so often though because there are snobbish type of salesperson too which I get easily irritated. I was also about to take my new found friends from online who offered a free make-over before a wedding I needed to attend yesterday but her place is out of way so I was forced to do my own make-up. I honestly do not know how to make myself so stunning as I can only wear a simple blush-on, eyeliner and lipstick. Nothing more, nothing less. But I would like to try a free make-over by Clinique as I've seen a good feedback from other friends. =)

I would love a free make up too but nothing like that exists out here. we are trying to find someone to do our make up when my daughter gets married in July. I did not look stunning but I did look younger and fresher

hi cnthiann I used to go into mylocal JCPennys cosmetics section and if you hang around they will do a free make up job for you. I did that several times when I was working, but on me most foundation will melt and run after working as I was with ill people. And you just do not have a lot of time to reapply anything, There are things to occupy your time from meal to quitting time with a coffee break in monring an afternoon. Also I did not want to look heavily made up as ill patients might not appreciate that kind of make up during daytime hours.
when I started working in the library I wore eyeshadow and lipstick and eyebrow pencil as my eybrow were grey. I have always tried to accent my blue green eyes as they are my best feature also my snow white hair.

Blue/green eyes and snow white hair? You must be the prettiest resident where you live. No, I have never worn foundation as I live in a hot country but it was okay and did not melt. I did not wear much - enough to even out the blotches that I did not know I had
