I think Diabetes is the worst disease a person can have and specially a person who likes to eat. the reason why i am starting this discussion is because my mom is diabetic and eating and cooking food is the biggest passion of her life. And we all know that tasty food would always contain extra calories, fat, sugar etc so she has to keep distance from it now and i feel very sad about but could not do much to help her. I also like food a lot and i`m keeping my fingers crossed because diabetes is also genetic.
I think the best way to keep away from it(if you can not resist food) is to keep on working out on a daily basis so that you can burn those extra calories, fat etc. that you gain on eating.

My mother in law is a diabetic and she likes her food as well. She has a really hard time staying away from it and this worries me sometimes. It is under control right now. She does not really cook her son does for her. But there are many diabetes cook books and recipies out there that can let you enjoy food in different ways.

No i am not Diabetic. Yes it's very worst disease but if any person follow the stick rule in food then not only diabetic other disease will be away from life. So diabetic make the life discipline. When we make routine in food then we become more healthy.

I think it's just like arthritis---all kinds of things can make you feel the imbalance; it's just a matter of balancing the chemical orchestra playing in your veins.

Having diabetes isn't a reason not to cook or enjoy the foods one eats or wishes to eat, it just requires a few adjustments is all.
The nonsugar sweeteners are better today than they have ever been, most people today are encouraged to reduce fat intake, starch is often a unseen enemy of the person suffering diabetes, as starch is in reality sugar based...carbohydrates are an issue, but complex vs simple is a matter of learning when and how much of them to consume in a time frame.
Exercise, or working out won't have much effect on the way the pancreas works, insulin production isn't the result of how many 'reps' one does or how far one jogs. It does, however have an effect on how starches are processed and even how body fats are broken down for internal use, which in extreme cases could cause even more problems.
Monitoring carbohydrate intake, a long with sugar reduction in diet can help all of us, even those who do not have a genetic predisposition toward diabetes. We have a tendency to eat what tastes good over what is good for us.
