Online earning vs. a part time job

I really feel that if my husband would give me 3 hours of uninterrupted time 5 days a week, using sites like this, i could make more than the part time job I could take. I use this based on the fact that a part time job would only pay minimum wage, and then they would be taking money out for social security, taxes, etc. We would also have to have a babysitter if i were scheduled either monday or wednesday as those are days my husband does not get home until 7 pm. also, the only part time jobs I have been able to find have been over 20 miles away. once you add in the added wear and tear on the vehicle and the gas money, it would even out. Three weekends ago, I spent from noon to about 2:30. I counted every survey that i took, every post that I made, every email that I read, and in that time. 2 and a half hours and i made over 20.00. I know that this is not probably a typical day worth, but if i really worked on the referrals, and expanding my friendships on sites like this, i really feel that this would be more beneficial than getting the part time job. any thoughts for me?

You can make that much money? I'm impressed. I've tried to get referrals, but my friends don't actually write anything on here. Yes, it takes a lot of money to make money these days. Car, gas or bus or taxi and clothes you have to buy to fit the part, etc. Jet Blue used to have people make flights and reservations from home and earn a real living. But so many people found out about it that I think they have a waiting list for years now. Hiring a babysitter really takes money away, esp. if you have a min. wage job. I hope lots of people have great ideas for you. I'll be reading this, it should be interesting. There is a site for Moms online where you can get a job, stay home, and work. I used to know the link to it. It had real jobs. I'm not a Mom and I didn't qualify for most of the jobs, but it was a good link. Maybe someone else will have the link here for you.

Welcome to Mylot andrie2010, make $10 and the $ automatically goes to your account. Once a month, anyone who make $10 or more the previous month, gets a deposit from Mylot into their Paypal account. You have until the last day of each month to make the min. amount. If you don't make it, they keep that $ the next month and you add to it until you make $10. Usually you get paid in the middle of the month. If you are from somewhere that doesn't use Paypal, then I don't know.

$20 dollasrs was uninterrupted work time. Right now, I am trying to "work" my sites, and have my child sitting on my lap. I have my browsers split screened and my 2 year old is watching sesame street videos.

Oh, great! You're making money online! You know, online earning is better than taking a part time job offline in the sense that, with online earning, you can leverage or use technology to help you earn money while with a part-time job, you have to be there in the place of work spend long hours working physically to get paid.

My husband does not seem to understand that if I got a second job he would have to watch our child for a longer time, and take up the slack on housework. If he did that now, just putting away the folded laundry would give me some time that i could be using to help stabilize our finances.

It would be interesting to see his reaction, "Sure I'll get a 2nd job if you do the housework."

That is my point with all of this. If he gave me just a bit of time every day, he could continue his video game addiction, but don't bug me while I am trying to make our family a bit more money. The money issue is compounded by the fact that I do not get paid over the summer, as I am just an hourly worker in the schools, not a full time teacher. We will need any extra money I am making now to live off of in the summer time.

That's pretty good. The only problem would be that you might now make that every time. I still think you should give it a little test for maybe a month and see what happens.

That is what i am going to do. I am still working out the family budget. We have medical bills out the wazoo to pay off and that is what is really killing us right now. if I can make enough every month just to pay off one of the monthly installments i would feel better.

It has been hit and miss this week, both with the earnings and the time spent trying to earn money. I averaged about 15 dollars a day, which is over a hundred for the week. I reached cash out stage on two sites and requested the money for them.

I would say that earning a steady income from online is definitely possible but you would need a good amount of legit sites or you would have to gain more referrals as you know. Referral gaining isn't easy for people to do but it happens just by being a member of a site and proving to people that they are legit. With some work you could probably even out working a normal part time job with online earning but you would need to set a schedule and try not to get too distracted by the beauty of new looking sites.

I try and give new sites a chance, but when things get dicey I tend to leave. When my long standing sites hit bumps, I ride it out. I hate feeling like I am wasting my time with a site.

I did not understand what has your husband got to do with all this. Do you have a computer at home? Then it seems that you have to start doing it and show him your earnings vs the earnings and spendings with a part time job. If you live in the US, online earning is a good way of earning money.

I checked your profile to see where were you from. I was not aware that in the US women would have to ask permission of their husbands for seeking the job that suited them best. I still think that you should talk to him and try to convince him.

My husband does not feel it is a good use of my time and that a part time job would bring in more money.

Actually through your calculation and information I'm totally convincing that better for your situation the online than part time, at least your inside the house and no other problem. But for others like me I think it is not applicable. So meaning it is depend on the schedule a person have, like in your case it is applicable and suited. I think you can propose it to your husband and explain everything. I think he can agree with you and may be he will supporting you as well. see you around

The problem lies in getting 3 hours each and every day to do it. If my child has a rough time going to bed, that could easily cut in an hour into the time I can devote to the internet each day. Also, work my day job is really tightening up their firewalls and filters. I have a 45 minute lunch where I am "off the clock" so in theory I can do what I want with that time, but if they block all of my survey sites, then I won't be able to use the time.

Wow... this is cool. You actually are finding sites like Surveys that actually pay? For me, I use the internet for extra income as well as my Own Business I am trying to get off the ground, as well as my Full time job as a dispatcher for a Cab company. But I do understand the dilema with it being expensive and you might have to commute. I work more than 20 miles from my house, but it is a job for now until something better comes along or my Business takes off more.

Making money online is a really great opportunity for a lot people. It is much better than the part time work since you can work from your home even from your bed. But, in most cases it is really not paid really well. Like you said you made 20$ but it takes much longer to make the money from the internet than from part time job. Also there is always an option for the survey/mail site to scam and never pay out. My advice is to take a part time job because you will not do as much work, in most of the cases you will earn a lot more money per hour and also the chance for your part time employer to not pay you your salary is really little compared to the chance for a site to not payout in the internet. But it is all on you if you want to work online and you believe you can make a good money off of that than do it :).

my biggest concern with getting a part time job, is that i already get so little time with my child. Maximizing my time and usage online, still allows me to be active and involved in my child's life. I know the dangers of not getting paid, or a site changing their pay out policy. i just had a site increase the cashout amount from 20 (I had 18.00) to 50.00. Guess I will just keep plugging away.

you probably could if you had time to yourself. i dont have a lot of time on the internet so it really takes me a bit of time to mae the payout here but i do write for triond and sell stuff on ebay too, plus i work outsde of the house part time. i think you are right.

It is the finding the time part that I have the most difficulty with. I feel that since i do not make as much money, and have an easier job, that I need to be taking on more at home. Personal foible, not my husband's doing. I have never tried triond before, I may add that to my daily routine. I do work outside of the house, but with child care and the added cost of gas lately, we need a little more.

I do surveys online also. I have a few good sites that pay either by check or by choice of gift card by earning points. I dont make alot because it takes some time for them to build up to amount to a good size amount for a check. I also babysit two little kids here in my home weekly and that helps. I have trouble finding good legit sites that wont send me alot of junk or wont waste my time. Does anyone care to share some of their legit sites? I have a few I can share

Working on line and actually making a living at it is not easy believe me I have doing it for a while now, but you can make a decent part time income and like you said you don't have to get a babysitter or drive anywhere or buy new clothes. You do have to put in the time though and if you are able too you can make a good part time income. I still have not seen any way to make a full time one, but certainly decent part time work, but that involves a lot of different sites too. Keep in mind though that if you do make over $500 per year at one one site you will have to declare that on your taxes, but since you work at home there are also deductions you can take as well.

I have not come close to 500 on one site yet. That would be really nice. This will only be a secondary income. I will not quit my day job. I am finding I like this idea more and more, so I am really going to work at it and give it a go. If we are still totally struggling with bills because this is not as lucrative as I anticipate, I can always go out and get that second job.

$20.00 a day is a good earning. And that will accumulate like $600 a month. And I tell you what, many people wish that they earn that much money not just at home but even doing full time job. Yes, sometimes our spouse (who don't understand about online earning) don't like to see us sitting at our computer for even an hour because for them we just wasting our time. I even have that issue like that with my wife. I didn't earn as much like you because I still looking what's right for me and it just didn't show on my bank account yet. But for me, in order to convince them we earn decent money online and much better than part-time job, we need to prove to them that we really can earn decent income online by showing it at our bank account. I hope I can go to that level soon. And what some people fail to see, we can even make it a full time job especially for at home mom. We save on fuel, baby-sitter, vehicle maintenance, time and food we will spend when working outside.

I would honestly be happy with 300.00 a month. It would be a lot less stress in my life than I currently have. I dread having to play the "who do I pay this month?" game. Can I pay half of this and then all of that? That has been the game for the last 6 months? Everyone is mentioning that part time jobs pay. Well, you would think, but some you have to work 4 weeks before you get your first paycheck, much like the time line for payouts on websites. Also, i had a summer job, and the company went out of business. I was owed 5 weeks of salary, as was my husband. Since they went out of business, we have no recourse to get that money owed to us.

You really cannot be late to your part time job, while the internet does not have a start time to adhere to. I find it difficult to get out the door on time most mornings, and i think it would be the same with trying to get to a part time job.

I agree. I prefer online earning now, because of your points. You can set your own hours, work as hard as you want, etc. I remember, near the beginning, it was very frustrating, though, because I was working so hard and earned close to nothing! But now, I know that patience will earn the money you want.

I'm hoping to do the same. And really, most of time it's cheaper for mother's to stay home with their kids than pay for childcare and work. Especially if they're making extra money online, or babysitting some other children in addition to theirs. That's what I'm going to do when I have kids. I really want to be home with them at least until they start school. Taking a few other kids for the day would be a good way to make money and would give my children some playmates. Win-win. I know there are good money-making opportunities online but I'm so scared of scams and don't know where to start. Any sites that are working well for you?

Yes, doing referrals and expanding friendships on sites like mylot will probably make you pocket full. But do you think working all day facing to the computer is not very well? And besides, all these income is not stable. It is possible that you earn $100 one day and just $20 for another day. Instead, part time jobs can make you income steady for a while, and you can use you knowledge to do things, that is your tuition for, right? And for more, I advise you get a full time job for future consideration. Because working in the real world is much more exciting than just doing on the internet I think.

If you can make decent money online I think that's great! I just lost my job and while I'm looking for a new one I'm exploring money-making options online. Like you, I would like to minimize my costs associated with work and maximize time with my children. I wish you good luck and I'll be watching this thread to see how you do!

If that's what you like go for it. It's not the amount of money that count most of the time. It is what you enjoy doing it. And besides you can be home taking good care of your children so you can lessen the payment of your babysitter.
