I just don't want to cook

Hello friends, i'm in hard situation right now with the cooking Lately we have little more money for spending in the daily situations, so instead of cooking we order some food from outside, as example pizza. I had that habit a week ago to eat once a day, because we didn't have so much food and i used the moment to eat only when it was diner time. Since we can afford more, i started to make stomach again, because of eating... And here is the situation .... Since i was in cooking period, thinking for what would be the best cheap food i can cook, i have little white cheese, eggs and potatoes at home. I planned to make potatoes balls, but 2 days now the products stay in the fridge. I also bought melted cheese for potatoes and cheese in the oven - the products are here, but not cooked... I don't know what's wrong with my cooking habit, may be i need a rest, just can't find the right motivation from cooking. Something which also happens right now is that i want to cook more different dishes, than i cooked before. I feel like last half an year i'm cooking same meals every week without diversity... Someone experienced tiredness of cooking?

This happens quite a bit when we have so much going in our lives. It is hard to motivate and concentrate on basic parts of our lives when heavier parts of lives are sort of weighing us down. All we can do is attempt. Attempt to do a little at a time, we are not machines so we can have feelings of being over-weighed. I get this way also, and believe me I am a great cook, but I still go through periods where things are just not interesting and or motivating. Take it one day at a time and if you can't complete your intent to cook, try again the next day. Do a little at a time and soon enough you will find the zest back.

Thank you for sharing HardWorking, same here ... Usually when i cook something for first it's most interesting, i stay over the pot and watch what happens there, because i don't want to miss putting something inside the dish, but now even the emotions for new dishes self me I can't sleep very well lately, may be it effects to whole my life....

hi friend cooking is a fine art, just like painting, poetry or sculpture etc... if you don't find inspiration doing it then by all means don't, just gonna spoil the dish!, Tried doing that when I'm not in the mood and it just did not come out the way I would like it to be. If you think buying ready food will save you and that is the solution for your financial situation right now, then by all means do it, but please do not compromise your health because it would be more expensive in the long run.

There was a time when I did all the cooking at home. And I could definitely relate to what you're feeling, as I too had days where I just didn't want to cook. I'd be so tired of cooking that sometimes we'd just end up buying food. Which was not very helpful because it was very expensive. Thankfully, I am not in charge of cooking anymore. Hope you feel better(at cooking).

Hello Tanyamean, it makes good sense, yes. I was that way little more than half year ago, cooking every day with passion, every kind of recipes. But when you have to cook every day not only for yourself (because if it was just me, can eat sandwich or something like that), it's getting bit harder. You have no other choice, not because you are starving, but there are others who wait to eat your dishes too. Thanks for sharing. Keep the passion

Cookng is one of the basic duties of a good food lover and good health lover! Tiredness or boredom may be felt at times, but self-cooking saves our health and budget. Eating from outside sources may be occasional, but it can never replace the benefits or advantages of cooking! A good cook is very essential for a good look of our health! Thanks and have nice dishes always!!

Thank you friend about your opinion. I usually cook, because i know what is in our dishes and i'm not sure it's so healthy (because vegetables and fruits in our home comes rare), but still the quality of the food is not bad and it's tasty. It also saves a lot of money, as you said, because for the same price i can buy much more products for different dishes.

Hi, Suggar....You're not alone with getting tired and unmotivated with the cooking. I feel like that sometimes. I'll tell you one thing that always seems to perk up my interest; I go online and visit some of the cooking/recipe sites and read recipes. Most of these sites will have photos of the recipes that other cooks have made when they prepare them. I always find something that looks interesting that I want to try. One of the best sites for this is allrecipes.com and I check it regularly anyway. I also read cookbooks. I have several and I like to browse through one or two for new ideas. To save on printer ink, I keep a recipe box with the 3X5 cards on hand to write down recipes that I think I would like to make. So in addition to the online sites and the cookbooks, I can rifle through the recipe box.

When you are too tight with money, you tend to make the same food every day. Probably now that you have a little more money, after you finish your cooking vacations, you will want to experiment with other homemade foods. I cook a variety of relatibly cheap foods but I want diversity.

Very true Marguicha, even if cooking is enjoyable for us, few dishes become boring for cooking if we make only them.

Hi suggar, that is so very true... But I am lucky to have a good wife. She cooks most of the days and when she is not in a mood to cook I do the cooking.... Yes, when I was healthy and allowed to take the food at the restaurants and small hotels, I used to eat out most of the time... Even after we got married and my health was better we would go out for a dinner every saturday. There always is diversity when both of you cook. And also a change of ingredients many a times creates better tasting dishes... As for example on a previous discussion you mentioned a dish of yogurt and mashed potato so why not try it out as yogurt with something else or something else, say mashed or grinded spinach with potato? That way you create dishes. caution: these dishes always dont turn out to be too delicious so be careful if you try implementing this

Salt pie - Salt pie with mayonnaise
Oh yes, i did that kind of discussion soon, but the yogurt in the potatoes is making them more mixed, because you know if you eat only boiled potatoes, they have dry taste usually. Because with the potatoes there is no oil - yogurt is making them mixed in pate and soft as pate. Soon i made pie with mayonnaise. But it's for one eating ... and it includes too much products in, which are not cheap here.

This always happen to me and for me it is not just cooking but could be other things as well. I will stop and get some rest if i feel demotivated and will come back after some time. There will be times when we suddenly do not know what to do/cook for that day. That's funny~Anyway I will make sure I get something different or try other recipes so i could develop my cooking skills. That's one thing good about cooking. It always comes with different styles and tastes.

Mmm ... something happens and i feel it like i lost passion for cooking, because of the repeating recipes all the time. Really something interesting and new, which is not often met in bulgarian kitchens would impress me. Thank you for sharing friend.

I love cooking but sometimes i just really cant be bothered. Theres plenty of things you can cook large amounts of and freeze to keep for another day, uch as broth. And its good for you. I am always looking for free recipe books and cards online and now have a kitchen draw full of them. I have a large variety of different kind of recipes that i can choose from depending on what ingredients i have in the house and what i can be bothered to make. I find i always make double batches of things like cheese scones as these make a great snack with a little butter on or they can also be added to cooked mince, onion n gravy and put in the over for ten minutes as an alternative to dumplings. they can also be frozen. If theres anything u fancy making ill be happy to give you the recipes. :)

Hello hun and thanks for sharing. I love reading recipes online, but when i calculate the expenses for some dish, it sounds too large for one or two eating, so i don't buy products at all. May be i have to try some other than bulgarian dishes, that can catch my attention for sure.
