I really want to buy something from Amazon.com. But I'm a little hesitant because I read in some blogs that Amazon packed items in big boxes even if the item can be placed in smaller ones. Anyways I noticed that there is Product Dimension and Shipping Weight in the page of the item you want to buy. May question is, is this the actual box size and weight when delivered to you? Does anyone have experienced buying Waring Health Juice Extractors and Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum, Bagless, 3106B from Amazon.com? Tell your experience please. Waring Juicer has Product Dimensions: 14.2 x 12.5 x 10.8 inches ; 8.3 pounds Shipping Weight: 9 pounds Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum has Product Dimensions: 5.8 x 5 x 29.2 inches ; 5 pounds Shipping Weight: 6 pounds Is this the actual weight and size when delivered?

Can you ask the seller the directly? Since I don't shop at Amazon, I am not sure if there is an option for that. But I know someone who sells on Amazon, and they seem to be getting some questions regarding the products. @peavey, You need to worry about the size because if the dimensional weight is more than the actual weight, Shipping cost will be calculated as per the heavier of the two. If the actual packed weight is 10 lbs, but packed really big, dimensional weight could be more than 30 lbs (just an example). From the product dimension, it is sure to be calculated as per dimensional weight. That is (14.2 x 12.5 x 10.8)/139 = 13.8 lbs. So any addition to the packing will add more on the shipping cost.

I'm planning to buy directly from Amazon and not from third party seller so I don't know if I can ask for the right size of box.

That's the actual size of the product, not the box it will go in. The weight should be about the same, since packaging doesn't add much to that. Why does the size of the box bother you? The shipping is figured according to weight and distance, as well as method.

I used a forwarder to shipped it to my country. So the size of the box matters to me since they compute the shipping either by box or weight which ever is higher.

I often buy books and other products from Amazon, but I have never paid attention to its package. As most of the time they use the right boxes to protect the products very well. I am not afraid of it. Besides, the delivery fee is free of charge. So I am sure they won't give me extra big boxes. I love China

Why don't you ask Amazon that question? I have only ordered DVD's from Amazon and htey are in a nearly same size box so I have not had that issue. But I do know what you are talking about. Other places I have ordered from...huge box filled with bunch of bubble wrap for one small item and i pay postage on the size and weight of that huge box.

Does that seriously put you off buying from Amazon? To be honest that is quite petty really.
