Maybe 2 weeks ago, i watched a knowledge show at a local TV network, to be precise, Jessica Soho's. One of the topics was about the business of selling Hermit Crabs with shells painted in very colorful designs.
I was amazed that they could do that to the natural covering of the hermit crab. They look cute but i think and had known that by doing that, they are tinkering with Nature's way of things.
But on the second thought, those hermit crabs were at least well fed and taken cared of. They serve as pets in an aquarium though not with water of course.
what's you thought on this, fellow mylotters?

I think that the painted shells are kind of cool too. I've seen swirls and bulls eyes, and flowers on shells. However I do agree that it does seem unnatural and sometimes I do think, "poor hermit crab". But I don't think it can really harm the crab anyways. It's not like the hermit crab can get anywhere near the top of its shell.

Well I do know that the people who sell Hermit Crabs, especially around here in the US, this is a Big business and I am sure that is why they continue to do this. Actually I think the Hermit Crabs with the painted shells do look a lot better than those without so personally if I ever owned one, I would want the latter for sure.

Yes, they really look so nice with their painted shells. I think, mylotter ChitChat was right , that maybe the shells do not harm the crabs anyway.
Have a nice day!
