When I was at work yesterday a co-worker was discussing with a customer that she likes expensive pillows. You know not our $5 or less pillows that last a year if we are lucky but ones w/ an MSRP of $50+. She said she has been spoiled by buying a good pillow like that and won't go cheap again. Now I've had feather pillows years ago and well now that I have a family and a just making ends meet kind of budget feather pillows almost seem a luxury. So do you think that the price of a pillow makes a difference in the quality of your sleep? Does it matter if it's a cheapie pillow or top of the line?

Some people are really picky about pillows but I don't care. I don't even sleep with a pillow most of the time since it seems to hurt my neck. I had Feather pillows and bedding all my life since that's what we had in Germany and then my mom send me some, I like the Feather Pillows if I had to choose. They seem so much softer and you can fold them and squish them any way you like

I've never had feather pillows. If I did I'd use them for pillow fights like in the movies. :-)

Mostly, I buy the inexpensive ones. Then I can have a new and fresh pillow if I want it and not worry about the investment. I have bought some contoured pillows in the past, and then when they have worn out, could not get the identical thing and I was so disappointed.I have bought the tempurpedic pillows, and I am not impressed. I like the pillow to feel nice, but I do not need a down pillow. Actually some cultures do not use pillows at all. It is probably better for your spinal alignment. I think we have all known people who like to show off their own "good taste" by only buying the most expensive anything. You know, the people who say "I'm Worth It".

"you even so much as hint that you do not want them there" ain't that the truth! I don't really mind them up by my face, but blocking my breathing... a WHOLE other matter!

My pillows are cheap and I've had them for so long! I don't have any problems. Maybe because I am aperson who falls asleep very easily. The bed I'm lying on or the pillows don't really matter. I guess it depends on the person and what he or she is accustomed to.

It also depends on the amount of stress too. Sometimes the more stressed out I am the harder it is for me to sleep at all.

I'm a side sleeper and I've just laid out $20 for a special pillow for side sleepers... I have to say that my CATS love it too. and I really don't understand why, well, a bit - its a "U" shape and if I'm not using it, a cat is often curled up in it - I can get that - but its a very hard pillow, since it needs to support this 10 pound noggin, so why are the cats so interested in sleeping right on it in my face?

Your cats like the smell of your hair and face that are left on the pillow when you leave. They just love ya. You also know, as I do, that anything clean and new becomes their property immediately. Especially if you even so much as hint that you do not want them there.

perhaps she like myself is allergic to damnable feather pillows and I know that some sponge rubber pillows are not expensive and last for years . A lso I had one that was so comfy and cost ten dollars of polyester fluff stuff. no feathers at all. The nice fluffy polyester ones last for years so no problem and the cost is okay as they last and last and stay plumped and fluffy.Butr some scoundrel housekeeper staff m ember stole my polyester pillow and I never ot it back . I have a foam on that now is belonging to Gold Crest. Its comfortable enough but will not put out any type of things I own again here.

I got one of those memory foam pillows a few years ago. I gotta say I cannot go back to cheapo regular pillows anymore either. I'm too used to the memory foam and it would probably take a week to get used to a regular pillow. I can't say it has made a difference in my quality of sleep, it's just that I'd be really uncomfortable with a regular pillow. I mean, if I had no options I'd use a cheap pillow. But considering I have to use an expensive pillow, I don't replace it as often as I should due to the money. I gets replaced either when I can afford to, or when something happens to it. The last time I replaced it was about a year ago because a cat puked on it! Hubby had to run to Walmart in the middle of the night for a new pillow!

At the urging of my stepmother, I bought a pillow that I normally wouldn't. $13 for that pillow and I don't like it! I went back to the cheap $5 pillow I've had for a couple of years. It all depends on what you like. I don't think the price of the pillow indicates quality or comfort.

I wouldn't want to spend that either. I can live with a cheap one also. They are inexpensive enough to replace every other year or so.

It doesn't matter. Now that being said, you may need to buy two or three cheap pillows to get the comfort level you desire, but I don't see whre it really makes much difference. Some people can use the more expenive pillows and it work just fine for them, some use the not so expensive ones and it work just fine for them. Of course with everything once you get used to one thing it's hard to get used to another.

Hi. 3SnuggleBunnies. When it comes to my health as far as my back is concerned, I believe in having a pillow that is expensive. It can be around $20.00 or so. It can't be too cheap, because if it is, then I won't be able to sleep much longer. In a comfortable way.

I don't know if an expensive pillow would improve the quality of my sleep. I've always had cheap pillows. I'm not sure I would want to shell out the cash if there was a guarantee that I would sleep better. Fifty bucks is way more than I want to spend on a pillow. I can do loads of things to improve the quality of my sleep without spending money.

I don't think you are going to agree with me. I have started at the $3 pillow that would go flat in not time....and have moved my way up to the $16 or so pillow./...that seems to keep it shape a lot longer. I can't say if I will ever get to the $50 pillow, unless I win the lottery....but I would like to give it a try. So, in a word, does it make a difference in the price of the pillow....I say: Yes.

A few years ago I started suffering with some problems with my back and I decided to try a different pillow. I invested in a memory foam pillow for myself and one for my husband. I absolutely love that pillow and I have to admit that I won't travel without my pillow because it does make quite a difference in the quality of sleep that I am able to get. However, I am still a person that has to have two pillows when I am sleeping and my other pillow is one of the really cheap pillows.

In all honesty when I buy a pillow I do not look at the price first, I go and feel it and if it feels good then I look at the price. I am not one to opt into buying an expensive pillow as I like changing mine often. This far I have never had uncomfortable nights with any of my cheap pillow. Uncomfortableness maybe related to something else but I can honestly say none of the cheap ones I have bought have caused this.

I've done alright with the cheapies on this end too. Though like anyone I wonder what if anything that I could be missing like something that will last longer and maintain it's fluff.

I don't pay a lot for my pillows and they last for years. I just feel the pillows before I buy them to make sure they feel the way I want them to feel.I like my pillows to be real thick. I usually don't like feathered pillows though because I've bought feathered pillows before and the feathers would poke me through the pillow case.

I have had the same $5.00 polyester pillow for the last 5 years. It still has a good shape. I don't plan on buying a new one soon. Some time I would like to try one of those buckwheat hulled pillows. I understand they are cooler than most pillows.

i am not sure that cost matters. it depends on how they last over time. i have been looking for a chillow pillow - they keep your body cool when you have hot flashes (i have fibromyalgia and my body temperature really fluctuates a lot!)

I want a memory foam pillow. The one I have now is microfiber. A good pillow like a good bed makes all the difference in the world. I don't think I could even find a pillow for $5. $10 is about as cheep as they come.

At tine time in my life I did buy expensive pillows and they lasted a long time and I loved them. But that was long ago. I now buy cheaper ones but take out some of the stuffing if it is too hard It does make a difference but that is a luxury that I can no longer afford. My priorities are now so different. But it is all right. Doesn't bother me at all.

Yes sometimes I do think the price has to do with the quality of the pillow I know I could use some new pillows myself after I washed them they all became lumpy!L.O.L.But no for real I can not stand a lumpy pillow!!!

cost doesn't make the pillow. being comfortable does help you get a good night sleep, but so does a good days work. i read somewhere in a health magazine that suggested to change your pillow every 3-6 months depending on how you go to bed at night, if you take a shower with your hair wet, or no shower at all that moisture gets to it and a pillow change should happen move often. it can get pretty expensive if going on the fact that you want to pay for a 'expensive' pillow b/c you think it will give you better sleep. I've personally tried a $100 and a $1 pillow and still slept peacefully through the night. so what ever you talk yourself into. do a full comparison first.
